@OX4SNYPA just wait to see what is released.  Once its announced ipad 2 prices will drop significantly and it will be highly affordable. Personally, there are better tablet options out there like samsungs tab 10.1. No flash on the ipad drives me nuts.

@OX4SNYPA im in the same position as you,i dont have an .pad yet and really want one for christmas but now i think that the i.pad 3 will be released on steve job's birthday so this febuary i think...what my parents said to me was,'i know yu want it now, and when you get the i.pad 2 you will be so excited,however when the 3rd one comes out you will be so disapointed and will have to think..i have the OLD i.pad 2' ....you will be gutted if u get the i.pad 2 nd then the new one comes out<my opinion

@SushiFan22 I understand what you mean; I wasn't really too impressed with the upgrade of the ipad to ipad 2, thinner and lighter really wasn't why people weren't buying the ipad.. it was satisfactory. I'm not saying this is going to happen by any means but if you look at possible upgrades for the ipad in the future, your going to have to imagine they will make the screen smaller if they plan to stick a retina display on it... itd be too expensive if they didn't.. now how small, thats the ? ...

@Tenikarr Good lord. Let's take a step back and breathe. This was pure speculation and yes. I would imagine it would have almost an identical layout. Think about it.... does the iPhone look that much different from an iPad??

Plenty of companies offer variants that are smaller and it's not ridiculous to imagine Apple would want to get in on the action. Imagine a retina screen on this puppy.... it'd be amazing.

You just might be right about all of this but it does say on the ad for the iPad 2 "come see what 2011 will be the year of" so I can't see why they would release an iPad 3 of any kind in the same year.

@TheSuperKalvin Steve Jobs thinks it's a lousy idea also, but it would definitely sell. Think of it as a smaller alternative to the bigger screened ipad, with maybe slight variants in performance if it's released much later than the iPad 2. Think about it, your statement is what everyone said about the iPad right? Just a large iTouch/iPhone, and look where that went; it became one of the most popular devices of 2010.
