3: why bother?
Christians (well some christians, which is almost always what I mean when I use the term) teach that Christ had to come in order to give us example of how to live and teach us how to live, after all every time God tried to teach us (Jewish Scriptures) his words were warped by man (hence slavery, vegence etc).
You focus far to much on the sacrifice, it is a symbolic demonstration of how much God loves us and how we should seek to live, it has no meaning in mysticism.

point 1: punishing for crime
Christians believe that Gods love has nothing to do with justice in a human sense, to us justice is perverted and based on vengence, where as God is willing to simply accept and forgive our rejections and betrayals.
2: death not so bad
Christians believe that Christs sacrifice in death was more that he, being God, not only lowered himself to human form, but allowed us to humiliate and kill him.
