Yeah, I suspect that either it's missionaries, a pervious legend mingled. Or what I beleive is the origon of all the global floods, is fossils on mountains. Creationist claim the fossils there are proof of a global flood, but what if the global flood myths were created because people saw fossils on mountains and tried to explain it.
the flood, as it reached the tops of the mountains, a humungus killer whale showed up and opened itself up allowing the survivors to climb aboard and escape the flood.
Now to primative indians noah's ark might have seemed to be just that a killer whale. I don't believe in the myth of the flood...but I do find the parrallel's interesting especially here in BC wich has only had whitemen for about 3-400 years.
One small thing, I did out about a myth that actually fits within Noah's ark that is north american...possibly. I'm really curious about the origins of it.
It's a local indian myth from where I live in B.C. Canada. The story is something like *Have to take from memory*
There was a flood that came in the time of the ancestors, the waters rose steadily over a period of time, the ancestors were forced to climb higher and higher into the mountains along with various animals that were escaping.
Great vid. Keep thinking!

Oh I heard about this myth at the Victoria natural history museum they had a display of masks telling the various local myths from tribes.

That is really interesting, it would be neat to find out how they got their flood story

I never thought of that possibility before. It would make sense, though.
