Electric and 2 wheel drive. However, there are 2 versions: the XL5 version, and the VXL version. The VXL is a brushless version.

the coolest idea on earth:

1.) get one of these cars with the long-range transmitter and receiver (1-2 miles)

2.) get a 2-mile wireless portable mini-cam for the car

3.) hook up the cam receiver into your laptop.

4.) make sure all your batteries are charged for the day. :)

5.) Have a friend do the same thing with different frequencies.

6.) Head to the track.

And then enjoy extremely realistic video game racing! haha!

omg i had one of those for 8 YEARS!!!! totally stock except for the motor after like 6 years and a couple steering servos. i drove that thing through mud, sand, grass, asphalt, you name it it did it! i recommend those to anyone! i can't wait to get my hands on a vxl. great video, too. nice editing.

to make the rustler handle better you can fit a pair of rear swingarms to the fromt to make the front wider to increase stabilty when jumping and in turns.

no the new one has the 12 turn titan motor

the old one (the one in the video) has the stinger motor

the stinger is a 540 and the titan is a 550

They're good because you have to really really hard to break them through regular bashing and putzing around. And if you do break something, there are a ton of aftermarket parts out there for it, so much so that you could build something which resembles a rustler purely from aftermarket parts, using only stock axles and hinge pins in the front (bulkhead and casters), although I think you can probably get those in titanium too.

I've got a bandit xl-5 with the modified titan 12 the thing is a blast my first off road and electric man it's so much more fun than my nitro on road I think next I'll get the VXL rustler instead of doing a conversion and swap. that why I'll have a beater. The things do take a beating though.

The new evader ext is pretty much unbreakable, and faster than a rustler xl-5. I have an evader bx buggy and its awesome. Rustlers have more aftermarket options, but evaders can also be upgraded with factory hop-ups. I hope this helps.

No they currently only make xl-5 rustlers. However traxxas still produces the xl1 esc. Expect it's dicontinuation in the near future.

the sidewinder is just an esc.i like the x-celorin because the esc has a fan on it and the motor is a 4800 kv.the vxl is 3500 kv.i have a 7-cell 3000 mah battery in my rustler, and it will do about 40-45 mph!

yeah it does, just stick a hi flow air filter and plus the batteries for the ECU are in the very back, adding all that weight in the back, making it pulls wheelies everytime you floor it
