When we were there, the land you see in this video (the southern most point of so-called Tarifa Island - which is not really an island) was gated off and not accessible to us by foot. However, it is possible to start the swim from a sandy beach, approximately 170 degrees around on either side from the point you are looking. From the direction you are looking in this video, 170 degrees to the left is a better starting point, while the beach 170 degrees to the right offers a better view.
great stuff. Can you access the starting point by land? I'd like to stand there and look across to get a feel. I can see the Moroccan coast from my office window here in Gibraltar, but this is further away than Tarifa.
