The mellophone; is very easy compared to the french horn, but anyone who can play it is a god.. like myself. You my dear; and amazing.. I am a freshmen and first chair against a sophmore.. Just keep working<3
Cool cool. At our school we just get to play on king horns. But we make em sound purdy. Good job man. Haven't heard a mello sound jazzy like that before.
@flutemaniac7 It is some sort of dynasty... I'm not sure. It's my school's mello, and the logo on it is like an older form of the dynasty logo, so I'm pretty sure it's ancient... But I'm using a schilke 30 horn mouthpiece with it
Want to play high notes better and more consistantly? Work on your LOW notes and LOW false notes. Try doing a long tone exercise (chrom) down (ie CBCBfCACAfC...), first use the valves to reach the notes then lip them down or smear them down. This will help strenghten lips and teaches you how to use consistent air. Next Ex, start on low A and smear down to a nonexistent low E learn to make these notes speak well. Do these daily and you will be amazed at how easy high notes become.
@chjola1 one good thing is to just go up to the highest note you can and sustain for as long as you can, and just continue that. Remember to use as little pressure from the mouthpiece as possible!
Wow thats a REALLY big bell
