I hate when people say modesto FD sucks because we might not have more than 100 trucks like the FDNY people need to realize we are a smaller city then NY are trucks are nice and new and its all we need!!
@ffjsb He is probably speaking as a firefighter. When firefighters are at a fire and inside a building the Captains will sound their horns if they feel an immediate need to evacuate the firefighters from inside. Like if the building is about to collapse or already collapsing. It's a signal to stop whatever you are doing and get out fast.
@ffjsb ok bud i know what your saying but ive been at 2 fires were the horns were blown...you dont blow the horns for a downed firefighter, you blow the horns when you need to gtfo wich im sure you know. its not a good thing to hear on the fireground at all i wasnt on the roof venting on one and standing by as RIT on the other... when you hear the horns u get a little nervous knowing the brothers inside are in a shitty enough situation were then need to get out asap
@01superduty89 I look at it like a good thing. It means command is watching the situation, the exterior guys can see thing interior cannot. I feel they have they back of the interior guys. A sense of urgency is fine, but you have to keep a level head. Of course if you have a good crew you work with all the time things work a lot smoother.
@01superduty89 That wasn't a Mayday, fucking or otherwise. It was a switch from offensive firefighting (interior) to defensive (exterior) fire attack. The building has become potentially unstable so firefighters are ordered to evacuate the building BEFORE someone gets trapped and has to call a Mayday. No reason to panic, you quit what you are doing and exit the building from the nearest exit. No big deal.
nice job guys

Sad! Not Victorian, though. It's a Craftsman style house.
