honestly, Claire speaks like how typical Singaporeans speak, if you listen to everyday conversations amongst Singaporeans. i guess the only problem was that she spoke too fast at times, and her articulation isn't very good. but, definitely typical Singaporean English. unlike Ris Low i.m.o.. hers is her own variation of English.

I mean, has anyone even listened to reporter's voice over in this video? she herself doesn't seem to be able to distinguish between the short "i" sound and the long "e" sound (prints vs preents). she says: "At LIST she wasn't speaking singlish".

i don't think Ris low is funny for her "terrible" english, but more for her bimbotic disposition.

Ok, so maybe Claire OR Ris aren't really very beauty queen-ish, but they don't speak THAT bad English. They're just speaking the way people in their country speak. Not everyone has to speak like an American or English person. If we all conformed to the way people spoke in the West there'd be no flavor in the English language.

Her english sounds funny. She speaks worse than Ris, no wonder Ris won. See other interview videos and you'll know. Ris may have a crime record but she knows how to perform in front of a camera and speak properly.

it is definitely far more important to see the essence of what is being said(that is make sense, intelligent and relevant???) and the pronounciation & grammar although essential can be overlooked...but then again as a country representative, the girl has a huge responsibility on her shoulders to make a good impression and if her own people are not happy seeing her represent them, then she already lost her grounds.
