This is a cool song, Its too bad he became such a bad alcoholic, I never understood why all these stars become such hardcore drug addicts and alcoholic, Ozzy, Elvis,Connway Twitty, and a host of others, you would think there cash flow would comfort them to the say the least, I just don't understand it?? this song touched my balls when i was younger...... actually, this song was playing when my dad touched my balls and then my mom came in and shot him with a revolver.....my mom killed herself two weeks later
Just heard it on tv and must find it here and added to my favourites. When this song came out I was zero years old :-). Well, I was born on 1976, hehe. Really great song. Thanks for sharing with us!
1975... Rhinestone Cowboy ?? Wow. That's a wake-up call. 34 years ago. Feels like 7 years ago. let's get off u-tube and joy the real world. Before you know it I will be in a retirement home wathing this video here again..... Glen Cambell RULES !!!
I´ve been walkin these streets so long, singin the same old song, i know every crack in these dirty sidewalks of love way. Where heartache´s the name of the game and weak hearts get washed away like the snow and the rain. There´s been a load of compromisin on the road to my horizon, but i´m gonna be where love is shinin on me....
lol sorry that´s my *love* version of the song :D :D
I was about 4 when this song came out, my mother had it on record. I guess by time I was about 5. I loved it. Went years and years without hearing it.
Actually, the correct answer is President Benjamin Harrison for people claiming to be 118 years old in human years. And Social Security did not exist prior to 1937. You teenagers do have a good day.
What a song. My late father loved this and i'm glad to say I love it too. Brilliant tune! It's about being free and dreaming, thing we don't have enough of today.
This song gives a sense of true nostalgia, both in its simple musical beauty and its lyrical documentary of an era gone by, e.g., cards & letters & the phone as THE ONLY method of contact. Not 2 mention a work ethic that kept us pushin' ahead despite a load of compromisin'. Gotta love the fashion too - jumbo sized belts & buckles, oversized shirt collars & cuffs, wide watch bands. suppose if we could see his pant bottoms they'd be bell shaped.
I miss the real feeling that musicians had back then. He knows what he is on about. Today you get twenty year olders singing as if they had the life experience of a 50 year old. It is fake , the music don't last. Ok you get the occasional decent musician , eg David Gray , etc , but The gobbshite you get today! Poor generation!

I remember I got my first blow job in my '62 Chevy at the drive in movies when this song was playing. Let me tell you this, I came like a bucket full of silver dollars, not once, but twice! I couldn't kiss Donna during the movie or when I took her home but I put it to her real good in the back seat during the intermission. She was a screamer. I lost track of her but saw her at our class reunion in '83. We never had the heart to speak with each other, but I popped a boner for her a few times!!!
He was so big back then. Which is why I don't understand how he could have made such a cheap video. Looks like he did it on $50 bucks and one day of filming.

GLEN CAMPBELL TRIVIA...Glenn had been a very sucessful sessions, studio guitar player in the music industry before he became famous. He played guitar on recordings for Frank Sinatra and other big stars. Another interesting bit of trivia is that he was one of the BEACH BOYS for a very short peroid of time and played the guitar intro part to "lets dance" (by the Beach boys). I saw him on TV not that long ago....he looks quite OLD but can still sing and play guitar very well.
No, his last big crossover pop hit single was "Southern Nights", which hit # 1 on The Billboard Hot 100 singles chart in 1977. I believe his last big hit on the country singles chart was "She's Gone, Gone, Gone" in 1989.
