I see people moving, like at a show.... but where's the musc? I don't get this at all. This is like the "Emperor Wears No Clothes" type situation: No offense to fans, but I think your fooling yourselves. Sub Pop must be high.
"There is no audience that would pay to listen to [noise]. There are, however, lots of people that come out to our shows." -- an employee / volunteer of the local Artist-in-Residence venue / gallery.
Coolest radical music performance I've seen since Einsturzende Neubauten...systematically doing to heavy metal what Pollock did to the last wall of perspective.
i thought wolf eyes were crap from watching their videos on youtube, but "human animal" is an incredibly powerful and original record. this music just doesn't translate live.
fair enough. I saw them live but was too disappointed that whitehouse had cancelled. still, i'd rather listen to records than stand in a room with the people at 7:28 - looks like a judas priest homosexual rally
what cleomagoolando could do is maybe listen to something else! or perhaps find out what thurston moore of sonic youth (a person who knows more about experimental music, than most people in this world) thinks of wolf eyes. i'm pretty sure sharing a stage with them is a sign of acceptance! in your face dick!
To Tyskkampduva...I can't believe you spammed this same response to me on, like three pages. Are you a fucking android or something. It would be interesting if one of the dipshits crying about my posts could come up with arguments in support of these guys besides some hollowed-out scenester bullshit like "thz guyz r awsum" or "it's brilliant" with no explanation whatsoever. It's like any criticism whatsoever isn't allowed because inexplicable fawning devotion is so much easier and more comfy.
You could probably draw some parallels in regards to a "lack of conventional structure" with a number of modern and post-mod literary works. Henry Miller, William Burroughs, etc. pretty much jettisoned your "common sense" prose disputation and fleshed out something that only made a whole lot of sense when you looked at it from a clear, paradigm-free perspective.
I'm not gonna call you names or anything, but Thurston Moore, has done some extremely awesome noise guitar music for going on three decades, including work with Glenn Branca. Sonic Youth also put Wolf Eyes on some big shows with them. I love Sonic Youth, and I love Wolf Eyes. It's nice to find reasons to like music instead of hating it. In fact, investigating and truly questioning why you "hate" something might lead you to expanding your own aesthetic. Have a great day.
cool band name...and not much else. It's a shame that kids are so desperate to be different that they'll fall in line with supporting a complete joke like this.
they're a flash in the pan...and as culturally important as the hundreds of shitty drug-head psych bands from the 1960s and unknown hard-core protopunk acts that are only talked about amongst socially-challenged record store employees with too much time on their hands.
shut the fuck up. how "culturally important" are you commenting on youtube? if there's one thing i could go the rest of my life without hearing, it's people bitching about Wolf Eyes. get over it, you don't like them, but some people do. quit passing judgment on people who like something that you don't
Maybe it's a little difficult, but somehow it's way more difficult and (not to mention more satisfying) to make actual music with less gear than Wolf Eyes uses. Besides, there are loads of improvisors and avant-garde artists out there who are far better than they are at their own game. Part of why they're better is because they know how to perform non-noise as well. These guys will always trapped in their own sound.
I don't get it. How are noise bands "trapped in their own sound"? The go farther with the whole noise thing than do most avante-garde artists. And noise is about experimentation, so there's no way they could be "trapped" in any way. Seems more like you're trapped in thinking that the traditional music you're used to hearing is somehow "normal."
