Our pump for our Cistern hasn't been working in 4 months... escalating our water costs... This understanding of how a pump works clued us into to what the problem was... Just tapping the tank we realized it was empty...
In a matter of watching this video and 5 minutes later... We had solved our issues with this pump saving us 100's of dollars of getting a plumber. Thanks so much for the pump operation tutorial... we can't thank you enough.
Hi mark . can you please a make a video on installing well pressure tanks please . im in the market of getting a new pressure tank and would like to see how it's done first on video , to see if im able to install it myself or if i need a professional . thanks again for this great video .
hello,,,,,, problem again with the new pressure tank.... precharge pressure is 18psi and cut in pressure was set to 20psi,cut off to 40psi.im using a 2hp,1800rpm centrifugal pump. now the problem is, the centrifugal pump turns on and off.... turns on @ 5 seconds and turns of @ 5 seconds whenever the faucet is open ..the system covers up to 25 rooms...is it normal?,,,,can i go beyond 40psi for the cut off? do you have some remedy with this problem.?....thanks a lot,,,
hello i have a problem with my water tank ,my son press the air pressure located in top of tank looks like a inner tube bicycle now when fauset is on the the pump is runing and ruing but when fouset is off the pump stop pumping any help..please thanks
Hey,I have a tank that in the top has this air pressure thing is like a inner tube bicycle where u put air into it,,,I wondering if i have to messure or read the pressure of the tank itself,,any help ,,,,thanks
@MrBeny179 Yes the pressure in a water pressure tank usually sits between 40 to 60 PSI. The thing you are referring to is where air is pumped into the air bladder portion of the pressure tank. The bladder is used to keep constant pressure on the water that is fed through your home. Normally you should not need to put air in this. If you do, you probably have a broken bladder and and need a new pressure tank.
@HomeAdditionPlus could also be the needle valve in the air stem leaking slowly, try letting all the air out of the tank to see if you get water from the air stem, if you don't ...replace the needle valve then recharge the tank with air. air should be set 2lbs. below cut in pressure of the pressure switch... also note system pressure varies in homes from 20-40 to30-50 to 40-60 and so on, 40-60 is an accepted standard these days but is not the norm, depends on your system's age and components.
Nice video -- question -- what if someone wants more storage capacity, in case of extended electrical outages? Would you recommend a new, bigger pressure tank, or just adding on an FDA-approved storage tank of (how many) gallons?
@smhoffman2010 a back up generator will keep your water running plus a few other important things.. the cost of a generator compared to extra tanks and install is going to be close to the same thus the generator has more practical uses and a lot easier to replace...
Most pressure switches come in 20 pound differentials.30/50 being the most common. The proper pressure to have in your tank when your are installing it is 2 pounds below the LOW pressure on the switch. So if your switch is 30 for the cut in...then the tank pressure that is measured on the top of the tank should be 28. It is very important to have the air pressure correct to insure the best bang for your buck....have a great day.theoldkid888
i wish this wa smy issue but My tanks sounds like that one i have great water flow flying out of my Shallow well jet pump but when i go to hook it up to my pressure tank and house i get water in the tank and nothing goes anywhere from there any idea's before i keep wasting money
anyone ever make a smoker or bbq out of one of these? i have one that is about a sixty gallon. i plan to use it to make an upright smoker. any tips will be greatly appreciated.
do all pressure tanks have a diaphram? my friend has a smaller one (about half that size) and there is an air fitting like on a car tire on top. I was under the impression that this was to let air from the tank. They have an above ground pump.
Thank you very much for any advice you could give.
The air preasure in psi should be set to about 2psi lower than the cut in psi of the pump relay. Yes most tanks come with about 18psi in them from the factory simply so the bladder is not collapsed on itself in the tank. This is just based on what I read online.

My water pressure is very low. When showering I can't do dishes and if I turn on any water it's very low.

Anyone run a well with a prssure system that also has a solar water heater. I'm not sure if I place this before or after the solar heater.

..helo... what will happen to a pressure tank if it is filled with water and when you press the access valve water spill out...... is it normal ?
MrJacyboy 7 months ago
@MrJacyboy Sounds like the membrane bladder is broken and time for a new pressure tank.

What is the nozzle at the top of the tank for? When would you ever use that nozzle?
Thanks!

@smhoffman2010 I'd go with the storage tank. It will be a lot cheaper.

Great vid I would recommend turning the hose bib on the tank tee sideways so a hose could be connected to it

I would like to know how you adjust the pressure regulator switch.
Any help would be appreciated.

most tanks nowdays come precharged with 38 psi
dmag2112 1 year ago
@dmag2112
38 or 28? My pump's cut-on psi is 30, so my tank should have a baseline of 28 psi. Right?

what PSI should the air tank be at?
demolitionbarbiedoll 1 year ago
12 to 14 PSI is the typical pressure in one of these tanks.
