He's so down to earth, sounds like a really respectable guy. Great english too, impressive work ethic to train and teach the way he does and learn languages at the same time. Should be an interesting fight since I think Overeem's stand up is the best in mma atm, a bjj specialist probably has the best chance at beating him. The way I see this fight happening is Overeem will go for the early KO. IF he can't KO Verdum in the first round, he will gas out and Verdum will get the decision or catch him in a submission.

@estanuk Overeem's good when a fight goes his way. He's never in his career been able to overcome adversity. Very few heavily mucled fighters have good cardio. With his large frame he won't be nearly as effective in the later rounds. Overeem has the ability to finish off Verdum quickly. What I'm saying is if Verdum can weather the early strom, he will have a good chance by round 3.

@Uppercut416 I think you underestimate his cardio, Overeem is a very intelligient fighter and knows how to conserve energy, check out fight against Tyrone Sponge in the 2010 K1. Ok, so kickboxing isnt the same as mma but Overeem never makes any crazy advances that are going to use up all his energy.

But personally I think this is irrelevant because I can't see Werdum getting through the first round. Either way, its gonna be a good one to watch!

I wouldn't count Verdum out. Overeem does well in K1 where there's no drug testing. In this tournamenet he will be drug tested. For his next fights, I'd guess Overeem willweigh in at 250 to 255. He won't have any noticeable size advanatge on Verdum. They are both 6'4". If the fight goes to the ground, Verdum will will submit Overeem again. Overeem;s a little bigger and slower than he was last time they fought. The longer the fight goes, Verdum's at an advanatge

Overeem used to train his JJ with Werdum quite a bit back in the day, After their 1st fight... Werdum used to school him in pure BJJ fight.

Werdum didn't really want this fight, but finally he budged and accepted Strikeforce's offer at the man with the belt, I'm glad he did.
