Love our job. FF's not wearing PPE are a danger to all. If injured they take manpower away from incident. For example, FF using friction disc in video, NO EYE PROTECTION. He gets injured, him and how many others taken out of action, him cause he's hurt, and how many coworkers to treat his injury? Negligence, arrogance, stupidity?
My gear, a got a new helmet and new boots unlike everyone else. So after any and every incident, I clean my boots and my helmet. I love what I do, and I'm a Volunteer. On call 24/7/365!
we got a bond no matter what firefighter we are no matter what country we all do the same work i am a german firefighter so i hae respect for all others an yes we are all crazy :)
@jwdub75 where do u get off saying that? there is NO difference between paid and volunteers, besides the pay check. i mean shit they do the same damn job. ya know to do it and NOT get paid i think says a little more about the person..this aside you guys are brothers, get off your high horse buddy
@jwdub75 I truly respect your opinion. I was on a combo department. Fairview Fire Department, Poughkeepsie NY. I joined while in college. The LAST thing I wanted was to scab jobs from those that taught me so much. In our district, we did not have the tax base to have more than 4 guys on during the day and two on at night (paid). I often talked with the the guys about this issue. Fact was, and is, the stupid town would not put more paid on the department. The union guys were...
@jwdub75 I would agree that most vollies are not trained to the same degree as paid. I know that my understanding of fire was lacking. Me and my fellow students would ALWAYS stay at the house if the paid guys came in for a worker. We would NEVER ride if it was to take away from them. With all that said, we still worked side by side. And worked well together. While we were a small house (1 station 1800 calls a year, 50-60 workers) it was what it was. They were happy for the backup.
@jwdub75 I don't know where you work, but I have been on high rise with paid guys. Residential, commercial, you name it. The only time I have pulled a booster line was for a dumpster. Respect to you for what you do. Please don't degrade those that try to do the same in support.
@jwdub75 I am a volunteer and i am insulted, I have the feeling that you are just trying to stir shit for the hell of it so I will not dignifie that statment with a response.
@jwdub75 Please realize that in some rural parts of this country, it's vollies or nothing. I can't speak for all vollies, but most of the guys on my dept are very competent and well trained.
did anyone know that the rope rescue you see in this vid is of 2 Rescue 1 Firefighters in New York? AND that what they were doing was way more dangerous than it looked?
the guy on the aerial ladder performing vertical ventilation at (1:14) should really have his scba on almost got a face full of flames! not being careful enough
the guy on the aerial ladder performing vertical ventilation should really have his scba on almost got a face full of flames! not being careful enough
Dont u just hate stupid ppl if u think ff takes no skill then get up off ur fat ass and go try it u know nothing about how hard it is yall that are talking shit bout them u prolly couldnt even carry the line when not charged u pussies
Hey hey hey! It doesn't matter if we're paid (ME) or volly (not me) lol. Pay attention to the one thing that holds us together, which is... we're all fucking crazy. ;)
im a vol firefighter but a paid paramedic.......we fight, attack and improvise the same tactics "paid" firefighters ....the difference is we do it for free.....
Volunteers compromise of &^% of the firefighters across the U.S......... fight the same fires save the same pple and die the sAME WAY....NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PAID AND VOLLY EXCEPT A NICE CHECK... AND A LOT OF VOLLY DEPTS REQUIRE ACADEMY, EMT, AS FIRE SCIENCE DEGREE.
Volunteer's work just as hard and train just as much as career guy's do. Sure we may not get a paycheck but the comaradere and fun we have is paycheck enough for me...
Dear zrett7t, Just wanted to say hello and you are a moron yourself. I just started the firefighter academy and its not about spraying water. Youre the type of idiot whod piss on an electrical fire. If you got the balls try it. Its tough and I respect these guys more than ever. Im proud to become a firefighter. We may save your life one day. Id rather die on my feet, than live on my knees. You prefer the latter. Kudos to you fellow firefighters!
I'm in the F.F. academy, and trust me, it is NO joke. Firefighting is much more complicated than shooting the cold, wet stuff on the hot stuff. It's much more complex than water plus fire equals done. In Colorado, just to become firefighter 1 certified, you require certification in HazMat Operations and EMT not to mention the Firefighter 1 cert as well. Nothing like the movies. Nothing. Zrett7t, you have NO idea what you're talking about.
yeah its not easy to just be a f.f, i mean yeah u could go to a vol. dept butttt if you wanna make it and get a paycheck u have alot of schooling to do. like going to college for a fire science and paramedic degrees, but the fire academy will kick ur ass too.
Ok Zrett and Countryboy, I know you two are trolls, but ok, I will take the bait. I know you feel safe in your moms basement, but still crying over yet another application REJECTION from you local volunteer FD. This job is way more complex than pointing a line and shooting water. Of course you two will never know, because it takes HUGE CAJONES and intellect combined to be a successful FF, which is why you will never be a part of the brotherhood. Good luck on getting your GED this time.
i wanna give you a little info When it all boils down to you being trapt in a car burning like hell and your stuck inside begging for your life , and you want sombody to save you, remember the heros that took a year to go threw Advance Life Saving tactics and EMT school to save your behind !!!!!!!!!!!!
They took that job because they love saving lives
