great lesson....easy to understand and play along with. i'm on my 2nd day of learning by myself (having learned a couple of basic beats years ago in college) and i'm really starting to get in to it. i dont understand the transfer of doing a basic beat and incorporating fills in to it also. I'm sure with your great lessons you could be my sensei HAHAHA!
I have all my life loved drumming during class. Be it me drumming the table, my chair, or my pencil, but I have never really TRIED using a drum set until a couple of days ago. People actually thought I took lessons, and already knew to play the drums, but I don't. Thank you for helping me expand my knowledge of drumming.
Thank you. :3 My dad sucks at teaching me because we always end up fighting. I can now show him that I do know what Im doing. (he plays and has for like 32 years and ive been intrested but am just now REALLY starting) -.-
Hey i am a complete beginner seriously i have never played drumms but i got a hand of this in fifteen mins and now i can go as fast as you did in this demonstration but i do mess it up from time to time do you think i got what it takes to be a drummer i want to take up drumming ^^,

I've never had drum lessons , I don't have my own kit .. I play the drums at school , I'm in a band and I teach myself .. I can't read drum Tabs or music and when I play it's like it's the only time im really myself .. What do you think?
All right...I'm a 25 year old crappy guitarist with bad timing. How realistic would it be for me to convert to drums at this age with once a week lessons? How quickly could I be playing in a band if I practiced an hour a night?
@jacobwalters85 I honestly think that if you ("you" as in anyone) practice an hour a night and take a lesson a week you can be playing in a band in 6 months to a year. That said, you can't do a band much good until you fix that "bad timing" issue. Time to invest in a metronome. Maybe "Practicing with a Metronome" should be my next vid.
I had my 1st lesson a few weeks ago an that just taught me alot more !!!! Thanks. P.s can u make a few more simple videos were u break it down thank you !!! :);)
i dont play drums, i play guitar, but in year 8 everyone has to learn some stuff on the drums. i had completely forgot how to do this but now i remember, and i actually get it this time. i think i'll pass the assesment now, thanks heaps! :D
@emt600 No way! If you want to learn and will work at it, it's never too late. Start slow and basic...like with the beat in this lesson. If you have any questions, shoot!
@emt600 not at all, mate. I'm 34 and I've got my first drum lesson this coming Friday. :) The way I figure is that even if it takes me 10 years (!!) to learn it -- then I'll be 44 with still half my life or more left to enjoy playing around with it all. :)))
I don't even own drums but my friend had some and I wanted to play and I FAILED the first time then I told him I would come back and have it mastered and because of your AMAZING video i did :)
You are a good teacher. I had no idea where to begin playing drums, had no coordination, and I practice with your video and didi it correctly! :) post more lessons!
Practicing musicians / learners, if you could fill out my easy 4 question survey for my research project it would be much appreciated. The link is in the info of my video called practicing musicians thanks.
I am an absolute beginner and know nothing about drums.
With the hit hat if there are only four counts why does it sound like more? You hit the hat hat more thanfour times. Thats the only thing i didnt get. Thankyou:)
We are counting 4 BEATS...1-2-3-4. Those are called quarter notes. But we are breaking those beats down further into eighth notes. (Twice as many as 4...but in the same amount of time.) So those are counted 1 AND 2 AND 3 AND 4 AND. So you are correct...you are hearing 8 hits on the hi hat, not 4.
yes maybe it is, but it also is the basic beat for most songs since the 1960s!! don't make comments on rock and drums mr. 50 cent. u just gonna sound like a fool
i didn't call the guy in this video a retard...i called mutsukazuma a retard...y don't u just shut up and mind ur own crap. and i don't really give a crap about my grammar on youtube. hell, u may be the retard actually
yeah cause every retard can play this, shows how good the whole mediocre pop music is that everyone thinks is so fantastic, even a monkey could play this beats (since it's a basic beat)

turdadactyl 2 years ago
The snare drum hits on the second and fourth beats in the four-beat count. The hi-hat is playing faster, but the snare is what really keeps the beat.
RollingThunderStudio 1 year ago
@ashikadil19
it's one and two and three and four and
that's why it sounds like more, they're actually 8 hits. but it's a fourth note.
