  • That is a beautiful cake. Well done! I used a box cake and it did cook longer than the recommended time - about 70 minutes. The outside was fine. The pie was thoroughly defrosted (home made pumpkin). It was delicious and warm all the way through. Yum!!

    Hey, my friend tried this and it came out soggy in the middle on the bottom AND top. How did you get it done all the way through?

    It took a looong time! The pies must be pre-cooked.

    Put it in a pan larger than the pie itself.

    They will overcook and burn on the outside to cook all the way through! You will have to cut off some burnt edges. Use a dense, long-cooking cake recipe, more like a pound cake. If you're using a boxed cake mix, look up online for a nice wine cake recipe. It's nice forgiving cake so even if you overcook the outside, the middle will still be good. :)
