  • team orders, fixing, as Coulthard had won GPs and was ahead in the championship

  • Villeneuve the gentleman.

  • full volume with headphones = MEGA EAR RAYP! HOLY SHIT MAN!

  • I don't understand y Coulthard had to let Hakkinen past...Coulthard was ahead in the Championship?

  • @SeanCF1 Hakkinen never won a race by then...this was his first win ever...If I remember correctly if was even speculated about him quiting or something similar so that's reasonable, Villeneauve only neede to score those few points & the agreement went on! =) epic moments

  • villeneuve actually slowed down, because Ron Dennis of Mclaren and Frank Williams of Williams, had an agremeent if this situation should arise, everyone knows that, just look at the press conference later when all the drivers say what actually happened

  • @Infektosoul Definately! This race was all about cheating!

  • those were the times when F1 was exciting... and the sound of the engin was...ufff

  • man the finns have gone mad.

  • lol the commentators really need to chill....

  • lol Villeneuve is good for nothing...this man is a realy bad driver... just win when is car was just realy realy better than the other...

  • LOL. Villenueve was ruined like he was nobody's business!

  • I really like the older designs of the F1 cars. The F1 cars today look ugly.

  • The days when F1 cars both looked and sounded beautiful

  • damn wat kunnen die sukkels schreeuwen zeg:(

  • great pass hakkinen and coulthard.

  • @mackey12160204

That was the same DC let Mika passed

  • thank you comment.

  • Now thats enthusiastic commentating! It certainly puts into perspective how shit Jonathon Legard really is.

  • Totally.

  • What was left unnoticed, Berger passed Irvine on the last lap. Eddie narrowly held off Frentzen in the end.

  • Hakkinen was a great driver, he didnt only win 2 world championships. He won them when racing against a person who was statistically the best.

    Mika for the win!!

  • "Häkkinen on ykkönen" - Matti Kyllönen

  • I think Hakkinen was better then Schumacher

  • Williams and Mclaren had an agreement before the race that Mclarens wouldn't hold up Villeneuve if he was behind them after pitstops. Having done this, William's end of the bargain was to let Mclaren win if they were in a position to do so. Which they did. Coulthard was forced to let Hakkinen past by the pitwall, not asked by them.

  • Beautiful car in this season.

  • kuulinko perkeleen?

  • The best season ever was 2007

  • yeah 2007 was a really good year 4 drivers duking it out man 3 drivers over 100 pts 3 drivers separated by 1 pt nuff said

  • Most awesome season I ever saw behind 1999, 1998 and 2005.

  • @OnePieceSanjiRobin

That's only because you're so young.

  • the best finn ever mina olen suomalainen go finns

  • The pass on coulthard was based on team orders and JV's car was damaged in the MSC incident thus a slower car. JV only needed a point to win the world championship. ron dennis and frank williams orchestrated this result. Nothing to take away from mika.

  • Finninsh lenguage is sooooo cool.....

  • the best f1 championship 1997

  • Hakkinen on coulthard - by radiobox agreement

Hakkinen on Villeneuve - both happy

finnish commentary - I.Q.......ok all happy.

  • i thought dutch couls shout, but this is really losing your voice shouting:S

  • its Finnish commentary no dutch ^^

  • Villeneuve needed at least 1 or 2 points. So I think he didn't want to "fight" agaisnt the McLaren and put his points in danger again in another little crash (first one with Schumacher).

This season and the 1998 were amazing.

    Excuse my english.

  • paina paina paina

  • Häkkinen viedään.

  • Häkkinen Villeneuve

  • I thought Villenueves letting through of Hakkinen was to avoid some kind of punishment for some reason. As for the Hakkinen/Coulthard pass, there may have been pre-race agreement for this particular race, but it was definately a decision from the pit wall to let Hakkinen through.

Still Hakkinen remains my all-time favourite driver. Raikkonen a fairly close second.

  • or was he just trying to stay on track coz then he would win championship?

  • more like what you say yes

  • "Raikkonen a fairly close second" - OMG, taste is a weird thing sometimes

  • Actually, McLaren told Coulthard to let Häkkinen pass, but it seems to be less shocking when it's McLaren (here and in Melbourne 98) than when it's Ferrari (Sepang 99 & Spielberg 02). And I DO NOT understand why people are shocked when the red do that and amazed when the greys do it...

  • @Schumalice because it didnt mean a thing but when ferrari did it it was on the last lap

  • Tuo oli hieno juttu silloin. "Hyvä Mika"!

    Kyllönen meinasi revetä tuossa vaiheessa.

  • Villeneuve let pass both McLarens due to a damage car. He did not need a victory to win the championship anyway since schumi was sent out after non accidental collision with Villeneuve.

  • his car doesn't look too bad to me there.

i love the Finnish commentators on F1, they're brilliant

  • his car had some minor damage but the main reason he let them both pass was that he didnt want to risk a possible collision with the mclarens trying to overtake...3rd was good enough to win so he played it safe and allowed them to passs without much struggle

  • Humm ....I recall there had been a gentlemen's

agreement or whatever you want to call it =

  • stupid commentator, how the fuck is it possible to enjoy the overtaking with that asshole screaming. lol hakkinen is awsome.

  • Nothing spectacular, the commentator is excited because he is finn, but Coulthard let him pass and Villeneuve had the damaged car due to Schumi's cheat attempt.

  • All three had a pre race agreement the McLaren drivers agreed not to attack JV at the start so he let them past later on.

  • World number one Mika Hakkinen...

  • kiranowen: just remember who took a couple of victories first during 1997 due to Mika's bad luck! Villeneuve.

  • Exciteable chaps, aren't they? Let's hope that the commentators show as much joy when Mark Webber wins his first race.

  • amen.

  • hyvä miiiiiiiiiiiiiikaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I always liked Hakkinen but this race was as farce. It is known also that Villeneuve also let him go past. A great gesture from both Coulthard and Jacques but not what F1 should be about.

  • jesus calm damn

  • Finnish people showing emotion? Wtf?

  • Fantastic stuff. And to hear the Finnish commentators! Great clip.

  • Takasuora nyt mika OJ MIIKAAA HÄKKINEN MIIKAAA HÄKKINEN !! HÄKKINEN VOITTAA !! MIKA MIKA !!
