  • Al,

I have to agree with you. I bought both cars myself, did the same side by side comparison and then E-mailed Craig and gave him my thoughts. For the money, BLMA is the winner. Like I told Craig, if I'm in a hobby shop and his cars are less money than the competition with the same level of detail, then I am going to buy his. The reason - you said it, more bang for the buck. Every dollar saved is another car I can purchase, especially for those guys making unit trains. Great video man. Later.

  • ive been up close and personal with these cars for reasons i wont go into. i dont ever recall any chains on the catwalk and, from what i recall, the control device for the frig unit is place accurately on the BLMA. the easy release bar on the frig side is also missing from the exact rail model. hard to believe these basic details are missing yet it cost more. now all we need is someone to make the tropicana joints. too bad you cant just re-decal one of these. great video Al, as usual..hollar

  • @ColeOnly777 Hey man, Thanks!! I put my personal opinion in when I do these videos but I never claim my ways or opinions are right. I just do what i do best, MODEL RAILROADING and sex. LOL i got skills in both!

  • Hello AL check out this website you may find a cool UP locomotive to pull those nices are try amherst-depot com they got atlas dash 8 40Cs in UP with baby wings and tons of hard to find KATOs I saw some UP AC400CWs and UP SD40-2s

  • BLMA vs Exactrail and the winner is.. us the modelers

Personally i like better the Exactrail version, because it has few more details that the BLMA ones and people that are saying that BLMA made a better prototype version of this car ovbiusly haven't seen Exactrail version really close or they just want to ignore the details but belive me, they are there, the pictures on this video proves it. And the price was the same (or at least it was when i bought them Exactrail $24 and BLMA $23.99

  • I bought a few of each brand and love them both. There are details that are different but they are really nice models.

  • I was hoping you or someone would do a side by side comparison of these two. This video even got the attention of BLMA themselves and they even posted your video on thier facebook page. Cool.

  • The EXACTRAIL unit is missing a very key detail that the BLMA unit has, the control module for the reefer unit which is located on the bottom right (when facing the reefer unit) corner.

  • @merritttrucker i stand corrected they both have it but the EXACTRAIL control module is on the side of the reefer unit not on the corner which is not the proper placement for a Carrier Reefer unit.

  • Luv your video, great choice in the end, agreed here! Keep it up!

  • BLMA wins because Creg Martin went to RAILEX and measured the prototype everything on the BLMA car is correct the EXACTRAIL car was made from photos off the web and the detail is wrong. 1. Armor 64s don't have short knuckles on the unit side they are extended. 2. RAILEX does not use chains all Armor64s have a catwalk that is open. 3. unit is covered on EXACTRAIL reefer units are flared to remove heat. 4. decals are bad on EXACTRAIL and the price. BLMA wins because it fits my range.

  • I have dealt with the customer service at both BLMA and Exactrail, and have found their "people" skills to be far above many other vendors out in the market (hint-hint, you other big three) .

While the service was ver good, I feel BLMA added a bit more of a personal touch. How many head honcho's personally sign their invoices thanking their customers. For that alone I also feel BLMA makes a better product.

  • just picked up too BLMAs before i watched this. I think its great that both look so identical.

  • I got to get one they both look hot.

  • I have 12 BLMA and 12 ER and only one ER leans to one side and 4 of the BLMA had parts to fall off,Paid the same for both but still i lean on Exactrails side. That is just me.

  • Big Al, Thanks for the review I hope is the same for N scale, as you may know BLMA should be coming out soon with this model, and Exact rail in few months down the line. Still BLMA should be cheaper. Thanks for the heads up review. Peace

  • I did the same review and price does matter. The only problem I have is the first run of BMLA was not up to par with Exactrail. In the end we all win with these two going to battle and putting out these great models.

  • I bought 20 refer from ExactRail and I think they did an awesome job on the details. The only problem that notice is the refrigeration unit tends to fall out. It just need to glue back.

  • Just got my BLMA reefers today and love them. Choosing between the two is like splitting hairs but in the end I go with BLMA. Al, great video.

  • BLMA is much better and cheaper

  • I like BLMA too! I rather buy theirs since the deal is better.

  • Great comparison.

  • I like the price of the BLMA dont really think there is that much difference in the 2 models

  • who's cheaper?

  • Nice review. How do you like using the JVC Everio to shot vids?

  • I miss the JVC Everio. I sent it to the authorized dealer yesterday. I was about to toss it and head to the Pawn shop where I got it 1 1/2 years ago but figured I may be able to have it fixed. The cost QUOTED is $160.95 If I bought the same or newer version model it would be $260+ I got people all around the town I have to make some SOS calls for a new camera. I need to have two cameras! One as a backup for shit like this happening.

  • @MonsterRailroad I was thinking of getting the JVC Everio but saw the reviews on CNET and it got some harsh criticism. However, I like the quality of your vids especially the HD clips and they might turn out excellent shots when I'm shooting along the rails.

  • @hoorider13 In all fairness man, The video camera takes SHITTY PICTURES and I NEVER use the picture feature. I use my Nikon P100 camera to take all the pictures. but the clarity of the videos is GREAT and I noticed a huge difference immediately after I made a new video with it. I love the camera and you get used to what you had. Others may be better or great but I WANT my same one back.

  • @MonsterRailroad Amazon has the Everio GZ-HM300 for $199.00 and has dual HD and flash card slot. Samsung also has the HMX-T10 full HD on Amazon for $149.99 with a 4GB flash card. Reviews for the Samsung are pretty good.

  • I picked my 2 BLMA models yesterday and compared both models. They are as Big Al has said, very close in detail. I even weighed them, the Exactrail just barely beats BLMA out by a hair in the weight category. I have since ordered another 22 BLMAs from my dealer and they will be here next week :) Still, great job by both manufacturers.

  • I was actually looking at the BLMA version at my hobby shop yesterday and

in my opinion it is better than the exactrail and it was only $26.99

  • blma is better but exactrail shouldnt have done the same exact model they should have done the bnsf one that is 10ft longer not trying to screw blma with the same model

  • both are nice

  • Blma is better and less expensive

  • Cool review Al!! Keep them coming!

  • BLMA. They're $10 cheaper and they're more accurate

  • blma

  • BLMA is more accurate to the real thing. But I liked both so I got 24 from Exactrail and 24 from BLMA.

  • I have 2 of each. there really nice models. gonna try to get more of them.

  • great review al

now i know which model to get thanks

  • BLMA all the way!

  • i have Exactrail, finally someone compared the two.
