Aquaman gets a lot of flack. I mean, Batman was annihilated by Adam West (though I luv Adam West as an actor), but Aquaman was treated like crap since the Superfriends. The difference is, Aquaman hasn't really had the main-stream makeover that Batman has. So everyone still thinks of Aquaman-like Mako Tsunami-as that "freaky fish guy." No one thinks he has super strength or aquakinesis. It's just "I can talk to sea creatures and breath underwater!" The zeitgeist is unimpressed.

Let me clarify-Batman would have simply passed out of the zeitgeist entirely had it not been for the show. The comics code wasn't actually something instigated by Congress (so much as a "If you don't regulate yourselves, we will" sort of thing). It's entirely possible that without the show, Batman-as a major franchise-would have been dead, rather than simply corrupted as it was, so I suppose I shouldn't be TOO harsh on the show.

Other people say that this was the industry´s move to put EC Comics out of the business.

And yes, the problem comes down to be the same: if you let your kid read comics / play video games / watch movies, maybe you just should check them out and make sure everything is ok, instead of freaking out for everything.
