  • Time Tunnel Turning.

  • I so wish they'd reinstate the 'face' section of the opening; a great tradition

  • I like seeing the Doctor's face in the intro. Too bad the new producers do not.

  • Nice job. That's the way it SHOULD be... with the Doctor's face in every intro. That's what makes Doctor Who, pure Doctor Who. Can't beat old school. lol

  • make a Christopher Eccleston starfield titles!

  • Christopher Eccleston sucks Tommy Baker rules

  • Two of the biggest things that the new series has that is "typical of a modern sci-fi series" is a) the pre-title sequences and b) season-long story arcs. The new 45 minute format DOES NOT WORK for Who. Story arcs, character development, and the central plots all have to be crammed into single episodes, so the quantity of each has to be less. Thus, makes for a bland episode.

  • LOL I wouldn't have put it QUITE like that...

  • Brilliant too!

  • Isn't the new logo the logo on a taxi.

  • liked it

  • I guess I am an old style person but I wish they would bring the faces back to the opening titles of the new series...just doesnt seem the same...

  • Besides, there is continuity story-wise. Its mostly references, but its there. To be fair, these are the same complaints that fans of the show were making years ago.

  • Spot on there! The story continiuity is fine as is the new theme and title sequence (apart from the logo!) - these remixes are just a bit of fun!

  • I have seen years ago in a book a rather nice still of a complete view of a Fendhaleen with its tiny amorphous limbs. I am searching it but

    I don't find it.

  • It depends what you mean by "continuity". If they were to do Doctor Who now, in the same style as the classic series, kids wouldn't watch it. It wouldn't be flashy enough. AS kids make up most of the percentage of Tv viewers, this would have been an immediate serious problem to the show financialy. Davies simply made strategic alterations to Doctor Who to make it more suitable for a modern young audience.

  • i disagree . i think there trying to make a hollywood style doctor . what has happened to british science fiction it used to be at the forfront .stop trying to copy action packed starwars . doctor who should never have gone away. i don,t see anything modern or imaginative compared to the 70,s 80,s 90,s generation

  • hollywood style? its just old doctor who, made modern. change is important for a tv series, thats all that happnened; change. it eloved. and it isnt trying to copy star wars, its nothing like star wars.

  • I think he is referring to the "new" trilogy of Star Wars as opposed to the "old" trilogy. The new trilogy was great, but they went a bit overboard with the CGI effects. CGI will never replace the sense of a real thing. So as in Doctor Who, the classic series used models (which were seldom realistic), but we knew immediately that it was a REAL object. The new Who did to its FX what Lucasfilm to Star Wars.

  • New Who is lame.

  • hooray!

  • Bollocks. Old Who pwns the new series every time. I don't know what show that idiot's watching. Just because people didn't burst into tears every 5 seconds in the old show. Better stories BY FAR. Most of the new ones don't even have stories, it's just Tennant running around pulling faces, and pretty CGI for the sheep.

  • Utter rubbish. Suspense? There's barely time for suspense in the modern version, they're too busy trying to wrap it up in 45 minutes. If anything IMHO, the new series is FAR LESS creative and unpredictable - by series 2, we'd fallen into a predictable pattern that has stayed the same ever since. Last season was the absolute nadir of Who IMHO.

  • Too right. The new version is for teenage girls and gay men who want to lust over David Tennant. It isn't science ficton anymore, it;s hollyoaks in space.

  • i agree the old series is far superior in everyway. the new series is terrible.

  • Replace all the flashy SFX of the new series with classic series ones and you kinda realize that the new series really doesn't have much in the way of story, especially when RTD is in charge. Moffat's doing a great job but the last Christmas special and Planet of the Dead were incredibly two-dimensional.

They need to start making multi-parters again.

  • @Takeshi357 Agreed 100% Bring on the weekly cliffhangers!!! And multi-part stories would allow plots to not have to be rushed like they sometimes are....for example, Victory of the Daleks would have made a terrific 4 parter.

  • @Takeshi357 I agree. Moffat has done better at toning down the "balls to the wall" pacing of 45 min episodes that RTD seemed hell bent on having (people running and screaming all the time, explosions, zooming spaceships and 60% CGI). Moffat limited the use of CGI in Series 5, and focused more on giving us more in depth stories. However, Doctor Who storylines were just meant to be spread over multiple parts, so yeah...bring back the serial format!

  • @sixstanger00 and btw, RTD turned down Keith Temple's original draft for "Planet of the Ood," because Davies felt that it was too "classic Doctor Who," and thought that it sounded too much like a "classic six-part serial." I think the writers have their roots in the classic series, but RTD just butchered their scripts in order to fit his modern-day Twilight themed vision for Doctor Who. Thankfully, Moffat had Troughton's era in mind when he took over, and it shows.

  • hooray!

  • piss off about the adipose and leave the whoniverse completely you dr who hating freak. if it werent for the old series, would the new series have gotten this far? try no. most of the characters in the new series COME from the old series, you pratt.

  • Nicely done. It's hard to see the bridge between classic Who and new though (for me at least)

  • Same here. The utter lack of continuity between the Classical and Russell T Davies' Doctor Who was a big, instant turnoff for me.

  • What a thought - Nine and Leela. How funny would that have been?

    "Oi, savage. No knives."

  • LOL!

  • lol at aprox 00:12 you can see a scarf blurred, but other wiswe brill!

  • Agh you got me!

  • lol

  • Maybe you should try one similar to Jon Pertwee's last season intro

  • i prefer the first one

  • FANTASTIC!

  • Excellent.

  • :O...how u do tht?

  • With help frm SonyVegas

  • this is MUCH BETTER than the new intros

  • theres just something about the baker intro that is unbeatable! i think a modern title along these lines n this music would be brilliant in the new series!

  • Absolutely right, Elliot.

  • i like it

  • Brilliant.

  • i like it! not bad!
