  • Bought one of these for Burning Man last year and I could not be more pleased. This is a very sturdy tent and very well made. It is quite heavy and clearly for car-camping only. But it was remarkably easy to setup. It takes like 5 minutes maximum and is very simple and intuitive versus the half-hour brain-twister involved with most nylon camping tents of comparable size.

  • Too many people allow their mouths to write checks their butts can't cash. Kodiak has beat Springbar 100%. Don't be fooled by those out to fool you. Springbar tents are made with canvas that is made in China. What percentage of your tent is canvas....say, 95%??? It is only an American company...same as Kodiak. Same with Trek....made in China. If Kodiak can beat Springbar out with a better tent for less money, why be a fool??? Get educated, then speak!

  • Nice tent, i have a Springbar, i wonder how much the top vents actually do for the tent. In general the canvas keeps the inside of the tent much cooler than your average tent. I don't think its right that this tent is a copy of a Springbar, but to each his own. There isnt a large price difference if you catch the springbar on sale in the winter, but i guess if one advantage of the kodiak is that you can get it at cabelas.

  • Let me tell you this is one well made tent.. The quality and extra features of this tent is outstanding.. The flooring alone is made of thick poly material that is not found on other tents. After a few seasons in the mountains while hunting/fishing with some heavy downpour and heavy winds this tent held up to the elements.. These are one of those items that because of good quality will last you for many years. 5 star tent by all means.

  • I compared the original Springbar and to this Kodiak Chinese copy, and my money went to Kirkham's and the American made Springbar tent. I've used it in nasty conditions and cold weather conditions, and the Springbar is great.

  • Thanks for the video. After seeing this and reading several comparison reviews, I was able to make a well-informed purchase. It's a top quality tent with a very competitive price point. I used the cash I saved to upgrade some of my other camping gear.

  • I just bought this tent. This video was a great way to teach me how to fold it for the carrying case. Thank you very much!!! Can't wait for the weekend to try it out!!

  • Good video. You show a lot about that I wanted to know. Now I'm down to two tents I'd like to own. This one and a Springbar tent. I'd like to see a video showing the Springbar that is as good as this one on the Kodiak.

Do you know where the Kodiak is made?

  • i own one of these tents and we love it. about half the cost of a springbar brand tent and i doubt i will ever wear the kodiak out, so to each their own but as for me i will spend a lot less for the same or nearly the same quality!

  • How much does this tent weigh ...?

  • @MrShannon888 It weighs 75 pounds.

  • Copy of a Sprinbar tent. Lame.

  • why would you buy a kodiak when you can buy a quality SPRINGBAR thats made in USA not a kodiak thats made in a sweat shop?

  • @tyler2575 Springbar tents are amazing. Our scout troop has had springbar for years. They did pay out the nose for them and the quality isn't as good as Kodiak, but they are very very good. They are slowly changing to Kodiak.

  • @tyler2575 maybe the $500 to $1,000 price difference?

  • @tyler2575 gee I don't know because its about $300 cheapers??? Do you wear clothes at all? Any shoes ever? 90% of all shoes are made in China. So I'm willing to bet you are wearing "sweatshop" clothes as we speak. Do you have an iPhone (made in China), a PC (made in China), any technology at all in your house or do you live in the stone ages. China makes everything we have. The rarity is American-made goods.

  • I still don't get it! What keeps the entire roof from falling forward or backward!? Does is HAVE to be staked every time?

  • @niteowl985 I know, I couldn't understand myself until you put up the two uprights on the left and right of the tent. It is the four stakes that create the support against the two uprights. So, yes they would always need to be staked down, but you don't need to use lead lines.

  • @niteowl985 The stakes keep it in. It is not free standing it has to be staked. Very sturdy design.

  • Good demonstration. I just received the 14 x 10 tent and it is amazing!!!. I could not imagine a better tent. I am amazed at how thick the floor feels. It would take some work to put a hole in it. Bravo Kodiak!!
