The rations are the government way to control food distribution and despite it is ration out Dresnok is not in short of food look at him and even his family. I think what he says about his life is true because if not he wouldn't want to live there. That obviously does not apply to everyone in NK. Besides he close to retirement and with a fully government supported lifestyle he's better off there than in the US worrying about health care, finance and housing.

@GQOfficial Dude, I've Had friends who Came from North Korea From China. It's seriously not that bad of a place. the Labour camps aren't the entire freaking country, just like the Gulag wasn't like all of the USSR. They weren't amazingly smart people either. Simple engineers. They said the only difference between N Korea and China and the UK was there was less food on market shelves there. That's it. The propaganda is the other way around in this case.
