I've been laid off before- without severance. It's sucks, but I found a solution. Feel free to message me or visit my channel. I'm more than happy to help anybody out.
memo to jorge mujica, and i've said this before, although it makes people very angry: NO ONE HAS THE RIGHT TO EMPLOYMENT. look in the US constitution. do you see such a right listed anywhere? no. don't get me wrong, it sucks to get laid off, but it's not up to you! it just isn't! accept it and find an alternative solution!
The way I see it, the factory is going to be closed up anyway, so why can't the workers run it for themselves? There would be no bosses or owners' profits to pay, so it could be run at much lower costs. They can keep their jobs and there will be a couple hundred fewer unemployed people to support with taxpayer money.
Factory workers have been running shut-down factories in Argentina for a while now, since their economic crisis. It's not inconceivable to think people may try the same here as the economy falters and more factories close (there aren't many others opportunities for employment being created). If it's widespread and enough people support it, there's not a whole lot the government can do to stop it. Or maybe a liberal interpretation of some common law homesteading principle could allow for it ;)?
marniespeaks a company's mismanagement of funds doesn't make BofA responsible to pay the laid off workers. I know hating the banks is the big popular idea right now, but BofA was one of the more responsible banks by LIMITING credit extentions
That said Rod's support means absolutely zero. Everyone in IL knew he was mega corrupt for years and he probably had ulterior motives for his "support" for these workers.
who on earth can have faith that the banks are going to use the bailout money to save american small businesses rather than to just save their own asses?
I'd like to hear what the bosses at this store have to say about the whole thing. Maybe if they provided balance sheets that demonstrated Bank of America had not given the factory the money they needed, or that it wasn't financial mismanagement on the part of the factory, that would sure shut Bank of America up and garner a lot more support for their cause.
Yeah i hear ya, The conservetives really screwed things up with this one. Pushing for less regulation only ended up inciting greed and ruined the economy. How the economy folded so quicly under 2 consecutive years of replican leadership is amazing. The start of alot of these problems had to do with bush and reagan well thankfully those times are over.
The last few years the Democrats have been in control of spending and the Republicans are voting NO to any more bailouts, eg. the car companies. I can also say that the greed crosses both party lines.
oh yeah definatly the greed stretches accross the line and bailouts when structured properly is more of an investment. What else as far as the economy has been a major spender. The war in Iraq has cost a ton of money. Republicans going into Iraq to take out a man they put in thier in the first place. Well they aren't actually going to iraq they send the poor for that. You got to admit without an extra war me might have a bit more money in our pockets.
Please. Waste of fuckin time. Like the company wanted to do this? fuckin idiots.

i'm sure the reason they can't run it on their own is legal ramifications. they don't own the property, so they can't profit from its use

haha tell that to BOA before that mismanaged their own funds and the tax had to help bail them out.
as far a Balgo, what are you psychic?
all you got are alligation by the prosecutor. In the US a man is innocent before proven guilty before a court of law and a juryo of his peers.
You're quick to defend what we know are corrupt banker, and condemn a man who hasn't even gone to trial.
what a good American you are.
marniespeaks 3 years ago
I am going to do just that! Tomorrow I'm closing my Bank of America account and not giving them another penny of my credit card business.
stacygulick 3 years ago
You know BOA sent some of the bailout money we gave them to China and lost it.
We are also bailing out these bankers personal mortgages, and those who lost money with Madoff we are helping them as well.
but workers and the little home owners - out in the street with them!
We all better wake up quick!

This is wrong! I guess the Glass Co. is too small and doesn't have a lobby or corrupt politicians in their pocket like the banks and the Big Three.
