If only... would have been nice. What happens however is an asymmetrical media response. They announce on every channel that the people in the pillow fight became violent, and attacked the police.
They frame the people participating in the pillow fight as violent, and the public eats it up. They then have a negative view of those participating in the event.
In addition, people would actually probably have gotten hurt.
But you are right, something, however, should have, or should be done.
