  • that is truly amazing. you are a beast!

  • I did this last nite :) and I'm skinny

  • shoot ur chest more

  • Awesome..!

  • BEAST!!

  • In 2007 she graduated medical school at Stanford University

She is licensed as a physician and surgeon now

    in private practice.

  • BEAST!

  • psh. my friend does that a lot. gymnastics ftw! :D

  • im 13 200lbs and can do that as well. yes about 30 ft exactly.

  • holy crap is this AMY CHOW

    doesnt anyone realize

a gymnast on the 1996 and 2000 olympic teams who just happens to be named amy

now im sure that its amy chow

by the way look up her bars its amazing

  • @bbhouk1 isnt she like 30 now??!!

  • are u serious?! im so gonna try that!

  • god gymnist are crazy

  • what if she falls down.

  • @terron666 u get right back up and try it again. u gotta be fearless or put your fear in chek or you will never succeed. im an aerialist so i know what im talkin bout. i get scared, but i believe in myself to do my tricks safely ;)

  • thats a gymnast for you :)

  • Dude shes a fuckin beast haha. I wish I could do that haha.

  • wow can i trade bodies with you?

  • thats not really upside-down

  • @Turok2evil It was considering her hips and legs were above her torso, and she was using only her arms to pull herself up.

  • I can do that, but I was a gymnast.

Even then, I hated doing it. Especially after a day of practice... quite scary.

  • tru that but what does pole vaulting have 2 do with rope climbing ?

  • It's an optional training regimen for the vault.

  • If you look at the position of a pole vaulter when they are inverted and pulling their body up to the position to push off the pole, then over the bar, it is extremely similar. It's an excellent drill for strong vaulters.

  • @manimoutmymind2 also if you can't climb a rope you can't hold the force of the pole bending when you jump. Basically it's like getting clotheslined with your arms outstretched and you fall on your face...not fun seen a guy do it on my track team when we were practicing our jumps and first starting to bend the pole lol it was pretty funny though

  • This is a great way to build your core and upper body strength. You can make it more pole vault specific by bending your knees a little and pumping your legs and hips towards the ceiling to simulate the pop between being rolled back on the pole and shooting towards inversion. We did these in H.S. and as a reward to making it to the top we would have a pv pit that we would then drop on to. It wasn't long after this that our athletic trainer cut the ropes down.

  • @manimoutmymind2 This doesn't look like it would have anything to do with pole vaulting but you need a strong upper body and rope climbing helps alot. Going upside down like this is also ridiculously hard.. I usually can only go up about 20 feet or so. But we have to do three reps, and no matter how many times you do it you look down and it scares the hell out of you! lol

  • @manimoutmymind2 also it practices to calm your brain for when you begin to go upside down at higher heights. at first, its rather scary, but exercises like this help ease your brain. if you noticed, alot of vault gyms have rings in them. helps work out and tone the upper body which is a large factor in vaulting.

  • Awesome!!

  • Looks fookin scary to me.

  • me and my father can do that.

  • That's pretty sick. Nice work.

  • Nice pulling power, you've got great control over it.

  • i can do this but with my feet facing str8 up upside down

  • this is awesome, she should try it with two ropes...

  • may i ask how high u vault ?

  • Amy's PR was 13-5...just missed 13-9 before she retired.

  • amazing

  • I could do that. I'm a guy though...and a rock climber.

  • not upside down and if a pole vaulter can't do this then they are very weak!

  • I'm a polevaulter and none of the girls on my team can do tht.....but we're only on the middle school team,,,,

  • that is aweosme. yeah, gymnasts are the only people who can really do that type of stuff. i USED to be able to, but now that i'm retired there's no way in hell i could do that haha

  • retarded is more like it

  • lol alright, why do you say that?

  • Haha, i wrestle and we climb the rope with no feet everyday. I tried it and did it like a breeze. Its all in the forearms really

  • i cant even climb a rope normally T_T

  • i'm like 95% sure i could do that, and i dont even pole vault

  • haha me n my one friend try this at the pole vault club i go to, id say way more than 1% can do this but it is pretty challenging

  • oh my

  • One of the best exercises for vaulting. Like some have said, it's fairly easy unless you have your legs straight up and down. No pole vaulter would be upside down with their legs wide open like that.

  • *cough*easy*cough*

  • not really completely upside down but VERY impressive none the less

  • Well, it's basically almost a straddle front lever climb. Upside down is probably easier than this.

  • Amy Chow is a sweetie. Great girl!

  • this is good, but if you do this completly inverted keeping your feet legs stright up and down, that takes real skill, it works your side abs out while trying to keep your balance and everything else.

  • wow... i need to try that :P

  • tried it.

Started doing it, thought, 'wow, this isn't that hard, lets try doin it faster'

    Tried going faster.

    Hand slipped off the rope.

Was hanging upside down on one hand. For a VERY short time.

    Fell.

Bust up my head very nicely.

I now have a slight phobia of the rope.

So to summarise - this is BLOODY HARD.

And also, DON'T TRY GOING FASTER

  • lol, retard

  • this is BEAST!!!

  • wow!!!!!

  • Excellent! Very inspirational stuff!

  • Marcus, I was wondering if you had seen this. This is something wouldn't you say? I am getting better at this 'feet-first' style but have a long way to go.

  • hi magna- yes - this is fantastic climbing! & you are so right; the difficulty factor is greatly increased on so many levels. cheers.

  • ummm climbing the rope for 30 feet is the only hardish part, going upside down like that isb't much diifferent from normall, But still VERY IMPRESSIVE

  • Well, you should try it both ways and report back to us which is more difficult -- right-side up, or upside-down?

  • Yeah, climbing 30 feet of rope is Very difficult using only your hands, but....doing it upside down is another level of strength, coordination, balance and endurance all-together! Like glocks16 stated, this really is utterly incredible! I've climbed rope both ways and this is amazing!

  • are you a gymnast and a pole vaulter??

  • Amy was on the 1996 and 2000 Olympic teams in gymnastics. She also cleared 13-5 pole vaulting for fun while in medical school. She recently had to retire from vaulting due to starting her residency :(

  • Utterly Incredible!

One the most amazing feats of strength and conditioning you will see on youtube.

  • or anywhere else for that matter!

  • god thats hot

  • hell yes it is!
