  • shit

  • the sound was just too awesome for the camera to record properly :)

  • @pwnages42 the reason they've never come out with live DVDs...

  • Why the fuck every filmer turns camera on Adam when Justin plays his solo?!

  • The reason Maynard stands in the back is because he likes to make shadows against the crazy sh+t going on in the background. It the the visual intensity of seeing him right in front of the trippy screens, that is just another visual element that make Tool shows unbelievable experiences.

  • this is one of the best live performances ive seen :)

  • i've always figured he just likes being in the dark, it has something to do with his concept of tool being an experience as compared to just a concert. but either way - nobody can say they think the way maynard does. let's all just shut the fuck up and listen.

  • this is fucking sick!

  • the band always plays so good live! almost perfect!

  • either your camera hates tool or my audible vibration recognition processing system AKA brain does not recognize that singer as an authentic tool voice meaning it sounds like its not james.

  • Sorry dude, sounds like your brain sucks. I wonder what else it's failing you on....

  • Epic insult.

  • LOL! ownedownedowned.

  • @JesseCyrussHarlow Definitely your brain

  • I WAS THERE !!!!!!

  • wow he actually sang the last verse! what a treat for all that attended

  • i have seen interviews with maynard where he says he stays at the back because he is quite shy (stage fright) & somewhat unco-ordinated, that is to say, he finds it difficult to walk around and sing at the same time (which makes sense if you consider the odd time signatures that Tool frequently use).

  • LOL, I think he was kidding dude, he also said he can't chew gum and walk. Walking doesn't take any noticable coordination from the brain.

I think him standing at the back is more to emphasize that he is only 1/4 of the band. Other singer's take most of the credit for themselves by standing up front with the band backing them.

  • He stays with the band instead of being the frontman because its just not him who deserves the main focus. They are all apart of TOOL and deserve equal attention...also the vocals sound behind the music instead of infront which I guess they like to do.

  • awesome song

  • just got back from a tool concert it was off tha hook i was listening to them play anema and they music was just owning me im sure u know how that feels FYI i pisses off maynard james keenan whaen u film his concerts unless they release a dvd

  • i pray on my own two knees that this is so

these guys are pioneers of music

  • i hear that tool have a new album........is that truth?

  • not yet, but its rumored that they are recording a new one

  • Why is Maynard always in the shadows? Just curious...

  • Songs are usually very emotional, and often relate to him and he feels more comfortable in the shadows.

  • he's a bit of a recluse and prefers a lack of attention on himself, therefore he prefers stays hidden

  • he has stage fright

  • He stays at the back because they have always tried to inject a feeling that the vocals accomplany the music, rather than with most bands where they use the music to accomplany the lyrics.

  • sounds weird

  • one of the better quality vids for them out there, well done,

  • Holy shit dude. This show at a bigger venue was fucking great. Take those four screens add 2 bigger ones to the top sides and one fucking huge one in the middle

  • Is it just me, or did Maynard change his voice? He doesn't sound the same. Or is it just because of the concert.

  • probably just the cameras sound quality

  • good sound and great quality

    i am fan of tool

    very love this

  • if there touring this summer id love to see them i just want to know if they will be playing close or in Rhode Island for me to see them

  • Hey what year did tool break up? or are they still together? because i heard some info that they are supposed to get back to together in 2012 and put out an album on the 21st of February or sometime like that and call it Armageddon.

  • They are touring this summer.

  • They never broke up. Unlike some bands that pump out albums faster than you can say "media whore", they take their time to make each album absolutley amazing.

  • maynard also plays in a perfect circle so that prob. gets in t\he way with tool

  • yah, but when was the last time you heard anything from them? Seems to be into his pucifer project nowadays

  • hell yea great filming, i saw them do this in columbus ohio and when this came on i said to the guy infront of me they should do aenima next and they did lol

  • 0:39 look at the singer... lol

  • freaking sucks its to staticy craper

  • 19-08-07? what calender is that off of?

  • Not sure what you're talking about but alot of countries put dates like that with Day/Month/Year instead of Month/Day/Year

  • makes more sense.

  • Funny you should say that, but in my experience, the USA is the only country I have ever come across that puts it Month/Day/Year.

  • It's Agust 19th, 2007

  • in my opinion justin isn't shadowed. He is my favorite and i think he is one of the most famous in the band

  • justin is actually such an amazing bassist

but hes kinda shadowed by the rest of the band

  • i think that each member adds their own amazing element. without each one it wouldnt be the tool we ve grown to love so much, in my opinion no one member has greater talent than the other, what makes them so damn sweet, the absolute best ,and not overshadowing anyone member jus an amazing light of group effort

  • Is it me or does Tool make songs that are just..... captivating?

  • definitely not just you. :)

  • Did Adam have short hair here or is it just me?!

  • Comment removed

  • TOOL FTW!

  • So glad to see such a legendary Tool song on guitar hero, got some recognition at least. Hell, Tool got 3 tracks on it! This is easily my favourite Tool song ever though, and quite possibly one of my favourite songs by anybody. There's such a chilling truth to it and I love that. Maynard is a fucking genius - best poet and songwriter I've ever known of. Not to mention he sings like a fucking god.

    -------------------

I agree! He's so amazing! I miss his long hair. :(

  • This is so good!!

    Tool is amazing!!

    I really love this!

    x

  • jjaajajaja, you post this video right after the concert !!!

  • €the best tool song ever. I love way maynard sings in the bridge near the end.

  • As I said before Tonypata, all he wants to do is make the mood more real by any way necessary. I'm sure if he was asked he would without a problem. Maybe he just wasn't feeling it at that point, you know? It's conditional man.

  • "Save his voice"... He has no need to do that. His voice is going nowhere, in a good way. He simply like to mix things up in live performances for it to really feel like that. Remember, Tool isn't about voice at all. Rather open interpretation, but maynard's additions are guidelines as they've stated.. Unless it's like Wings for Marie, which has an obvious meaning. Maynard can easily do the last part, in fact he still does in half his performances... All he's doing it changing things up.

  • When I saw them he didn't sing the last part. The audience did for him. I think he's been trying to save his voice as much as possible.

  • okay is the solo a guitar solo or a bass solo. ghwt has it as a bass solo and no one records justin when the solo comes. so wth!?!! haha

  • its a bass solo. everyone just assumes that its a guitar solo.

and guitar hero is gay. but tool kicks ass. i hope you're not one of those kids who all of the sudden loves tool because of a video game.

  • haha no, i only got guitar hero cuz of tool. ive liked tool for years. and yeah i figured that out already

  • fucking right, hate those fake fans

  • I hate those elitist fans :P.

  • fuck this is amazing when i seen them live i sat up top somewere but on the floor is fucken amazing

  • I was at this show right in front against the barrier and I have to say this was the best tool show I have seen out of the 7 times i've seen them. And pooisgood you are a complete fucking loser dont ever call tool emo it just shows how much you dont know!

  • ha ha you have to be kidding me calling tool emo.......do your homework. self loathing is not good for you.

  • to shift gears from bickering to appreciation, I give the band 88 thumbs up for composing a seven minute plus song that "whether religious or tantric or just plain angst, hurt, hope, despair and love" in origin, it's a masterpiece of musical compilation. and I'm not even a major Tool fan. And food for thought; music is MATH, but without the human element it could never be taken to the realm of a human based element.....emotion. Great song, good message, ROCK ON!

  • Wow dude!? you are messed up!!. Great reasoning!?, were you dropped as a baby?. Lets be you for a minute: O! U! R! a PP head me so cool me say wrds wif les ledrs boing boing snort snort! Grow up! use reason or shadap!. I like a mental challenge, not mental cases!. I hope your just joking... cause if your serious... well... you need help!. I was complimenting the music, cause it's a great song MUSICALLY and technically speaking. Try using your brain and not your impulse typing!.. and Relax man!!

  • lol. 10 billion thumbs up for you bro.

  • cuuuuuuuz i need to watch things die, froma good safe distance ahha, maynard you are awesome man

  • I used to hate Tool fans. I still hate most of them.

However, Tool kicks ass. Forget 5/4 shit. They're just flat out talented and if you actually take time to notices the differences and the kickassness of everything they do.

  • holy fuck you have the worst insults iv ever heard! dont try and cover it up sayin you were takin the piss cos you werent, "shit fuck".

  • obviously your not a tool fan if you think they are emo. they are way more complex then those fuckin emo bands.

  • shut the fuck up you steaming pile of donkey vomit. Watch the video and bask in greatness. Then after the video is over, go crawl back in your momma's ass so we will never have to hear from a botched aborted fetus of your stupidity.

  • LOL just LOL. Last time I checked, emo meant being over-emotional about events that pain you in life, not enjoying the pain of others. Also, if you think your so smart, stop using profane words, explain your thinking logically, instead of just insulting everyone who disagrees with you. Then people might take you seriously. On another note, how do you expect to kill someone when you don't even know where they are? Another empty threat. And your posts are annoying to read, type in proper english.

  • those lines

    they say everything

  • Danny Carey is bad ass drummer and Maynard is a bad ass singer, but all in all Tool is fucking KICK ASS!!!

  • no words to discribe this song!! tool rulz!!!

  • this is my favorite song of tool <3

  • I have never posted a comment before but this is just retarded. Tool=awesome

  • You have a right to your opinion and I have a right to my opinion and my opinion is that you have no right to your opinion. -George Carlin

  • wtf?? tool failed??? oh ok i get it, you must be some back street boys fan so i guess you're forgiven...

  • Opinions are opinions, friend.

I'm actually more into melodic punk rock and bands like MxPx, Tenth Runner Up, New Found Glory, Run Kid Run and Eleventyseven.

  • Correct...they are exceptionally talented, but very repetitive and very boring...and did you notice that their fans tend to say idiotic defenses of the band instead of normal ones, like maybe "I like the fact that the song is in a creative 5/4 time signature". Instead they say things like "Tool is KICK ASS!!! and "you're retarded, Tool is awesome" and "oh, you don't like Tool, you must be a Backstreet Boys fan". Perhaps I know music, am in a professional traveling band, and I don't like Tool

  • i totally agree mang...TOOL is great b/c they play "Outside the Box" with intense time signatures etc...That's cool that ya don't like tool a lot of ppl dont...Im glad tho that you don't get defensive wit your comments mang!! much appreciated

  • dude, i LIKE tool :D they are "different" and thats what is important

  • See now, I respect that, you're obviously not a douchebag and you clearly like music because it's music and not because somebody cool likes it.

  • well, anybody that says they are "in a professional traveling band" is a bit of a douche.

  • Now you, SRM30, you giant sack of herpes, I don't know you and will never see you so this neither of our insults matters a lick, but I'll suggest that you mature some more and start respecting the opinions of others like real adults do.

  • Look, I like Tool, however, I don't have a problem with people don't liking them. However, that comment was kinda' uncalled for. Sure, he was a little rude, still, if you are mad at Tool fans for using stupid defenses and such, I think that you should chose your own words a little more carefully. Answering the same way is hardly a good way to handle someone being rude...

  • you could make a whole religion based off of tool lyrics. did u no the whole lateralus album connects to the qabala or the tree of life? tool isnt just a band, its a physological path for people who need to find themselves. they r truley the most talented musicians of theur time. tool can be boring to soem but for the people who really see the meaning and connect to the music it is more than just listening to music its a spiritual connection to ones sool and mind

  • It's music. Rock to be more specific. I'd be wary calling it anything else.

  • music which is heavily ladden with messages

  • As much as I really enjoy listening to tool... you happened to pick the song written about reality television to compare to a religious second coming.

Not saying they aren't lyrically incredible, I just found it funny that you picked this song to make a stand on.

  • Good job filming....except you made a mistake I've seen on so many Vicarious vids focusing on the guitarist during the solo...Its a bass solo for Christ's sakes give Justin the credit for once... oh yeah Tool is the best live.

  • Yup, your right. Pretty stupid actually. Noticed it after it was filmed. :)

  • I challenge any band to attempt to upstage TOOL, goodluck LOL

  • eye on the tv cause tragedy thrills me whatever flavor it happens to be like: killed by the husband drowned by the ocean shot by his own son she used the poison in his tea and kissed him goodbye that's my kind of story it's no fun til someone dies FUCK YEAH!!!! TOOL OR DIE!
  • Rage against the machine?

I saw this tour.... and I've seen rage as well... if they played together I would my cream my knickers.

  • one of the most ignorant statements I've seen on the internet, and that is saying A LOT

  • Comment referring to synkronyk's comment below. Also, Maynard appears on Rage's first album and performed with them live...

  • anyone know about any future tours?

  • check tool website. it should be posted.. I think.. lol

  • havent seen that good of quality in a long time on youtube

  • greatest fucking band ever fucking created

no one can say shit about tool

    if u dont like rock

listen to tool and ull make that one exception

  • Shit about tool. Amidoinitrite?

  • greatest fucking band ever fucking created

no one can say shit about tool

    if u dont like rock

listen to tool and ull make that one exception

  • hey cool, thats a mad vid, i LOVE THIS BAND! check out my vid on drums!

  • So damned awesome.... I have to see them!

  • dude it was the best show of my life, yes you do have to see them.

  • I think they opened with this song, when I saw them in Edmonton, alberta

  • I had a ticket an all but missed it :S but got to see them a week later in Italy!! Flawless show!

  • well...the big VIIIICARIOUUUUUSLYYY IIIIIIII in the end of the song remains imposible to sing in live. Can you head the echo ? he needs it to amplify his voice... it's better than nothing but...

  • yeah, that's a pitty. at least it's not bad and the instrumental stuff fits perfectly

  • Exactly. Everyone pays attention to Maynard like he's the only one in the band.

  • Saw them in Houston for this tour, maybe besides front row for Pantera, best show i've ever seen, barring 100's of other great shows, They were that good. Only better song in the show was the drummer's solo in the middle of "Rosetta Stoned". Best band out there today, they only get better CD to CD. Don't O.D. Maynard.

  • Jesus, that's a scary thought.

  • this reminds me of when i saw them at rock en seine in august 07'.

    whats maynard got to hide??

  • He let us sing the end when i saw them. it was great.I'm so glad i got to see apc.I belive they will play again.

  • no shit.i should have made myself clearer.i'm glad i got to see apc also.

  • I love how u even thought to catch the lasers at the back of the floor, this is a great job filming!

  • I was there:P front row:D:D

  • you lucky bastard, you... haha

  • My favourite Tool song, just eclipsing Schism, this does it for me, it has everything I could possibly want from a tune. F^cking magic.

  • And i was there

  • I went to that Billings show too - my first

    good trip

  • i am going to be there tonight Billings MT... first time to see tool and i am stoked

  • Nov 24! Ya!!! greatest show ever. so glad they played this song. it was awesome!

  • I was there. I couldn't have been happier when they played this song.

  • all i gota say is December 10th LA!

  • Aw man, I couldn't find tickets for that one!!

  • NICE! I thought they only sang the entire ending in 2006, I guess Maynard decided to start singing it all again, I was really looking forward to him singing that part when I saw them in Hamilton Ontario, but once the show actually started I really didn't care, they are the greatest band ever, especially live!

  • yeah he said he it puts strain on his voice to sing that part, sort of like Ticks And Leeches would but that would be worse for his voice haha.

to me i also think hes showing everybody

an example of Vicariously living through others when he just lets the crowd sing it.

    little do they know... hehe.

  • Saw them in Hamilton Ontario, best show of my fucking life!!!!

  • I saw them In Hamilton Ontario too! Which Hamilton show were you at? I was there for the July 9th one!

  • I was at the June one, but i heard the July one was awesome, they played Flood off of Undertow right?

  • Yea, I was hoping for Right In Two cuz I heard they played that in June, but oce I found out they didn't play Flood on June 24th I decided it was a worthy sacrifice. I wanted to go to both tho, but had an exam on June 25th. were u on the floor or at a seat?

  • i was at a seat, sort of in the middle, was cool cuase you could see all the lighting and effects, but still be close to the band. Right in Two was pretty cool, I like how they changed up their song list for the two dates, wish i could have seen both

  • yea, being at both would've been nice, but oh well. I was in section 110, 9th row, but during Vicarious I got onto the floor and got up to the fence, worked my way to the left so I was in front of Maynard, so Adam was right to my left, and Danny to my right, that was pretty intense! But I loved how Adam had his hair in pigtails, it was random, and seeing Maynard wearing a shirt was surprising too.

  • lol, yeah, doesn't happen so often. Danny is such an awesome drummer, that would have been so intense!

  • yea, was pissed that I didn't actually catch the drumstick that bounced off my finger tho, but considering I wasn't supposed to be on the floor I can't really complain!

  • Heerlijk, stond vooraan bij Tool... zelfs nog flesje water gevangen.. vicarious was echt..godlike

  • Great gig! Was just about where i was standing! Brings back memories! Well worth the trip!!!!!!!:)

  • Check this site maybe you can buy the dvd of the show? Not professional but they have tons. Real TooL fans only.

    //empo-live dot com

  • Thanks for the great link, awesome, you're a fuckin genius. Made my day. Cheers

    Mad TOOL fan.

    PEACE

  • I was at montreals tool show and damn, best show of my life!

  • fuck yeah, saw them in corpus christi,Tx they were the shit.

the best band of all time!

  • beste afsluiter idd, ik was high van de muziek zonder drugs. echt gaaf. Tool, NIN en Chris Cornell = vetste bands van llow 07

  • Tool was de beste afsluiter van Lowlands!!

  • They were awesome. Wish they had played for longer.

  • awesome band, awesome song. I wish I could see them live...

  • Tool was echt supertof.
