yea the driving experience of a BMW is a unique pleasure. The video basically only talks about things you can get in any other car, like nice interior, etc. Yes, we know it has a strong engine. Speed alone does not impress me. The reviewer of cars.com does not seem to be a driving enthusiast. THe focus should be on driving characteristics, on handling, steering feel, ride quality, balance dynamics, etc. . Everything else is merely icing on the cake.
When paying this much for a wagon, they're doing it for the blend of luxury and PERFORMANCE. So you really need to include more about the driving experience. You spent more time on the idrive than you did how the thing drives. Disappointed.
I own a 2010 535i xDrive Sports Wagon. The iDrive software on the 2010 5 series with navigation has been updated to the latest version and is now much easier to use. The standard seats are very comfortable for most drivers. The performance is rated at 0 to 60 mph in 5.8 seconds. Handling is close to that of the sedan. BMW offers a 2010 value package and is offering a dealer incentive of $6000 which make the actual price much more competitive with the Audi A6.
BMW and Audi sportwagons are nice, but people who buy wagons are not driven by performance. Their main concern is practicality as to why the Volvo XC70 makes more sense to buy if you are looking for a great practical luxury wagon for a reasonable price. The Volvo XC70 T6 would be my choice.
Boring minivan lifestyle? You're funny. If you want to stir the pot....fine. Your Audi cannot be taken off road and it's not as roomy or powerful. To also let you know, the Volvo XC70 far outsells the A4 and A6 Avant's COMBINED!!!!! I guess there are alot of "boring minivan" types out there....lol.
This is, quite simply, the best car ever made. Better than any sport sedan because it is a wagon, and better than any SUV because it handles like a sport sedan. The performance is jaw-dropping, and the quality is unparalleled. This is my third BMW, and between all of them I have been to the shop twice for repairs. As for the Audi, who are we kidding? I owned two Volkswagens when I was younger, and thet were horrible. I will never own a VW again, which explains why I'll never own an Audi.
If I win a 120 million dollar lotto and breed little people, I might get one. Unfortunately, I'm not going to have 55,000 to blow on a freaking soccer mom wagon.

big fan of BMW, but not this model. $74k or less could get me an M3, X6, X5, and even perhaps 6 and 7 series. Or why not opt for the 3-series wagon? Way cheaper!
Frankly, I would much rather the 535i xDrive over the X5. Although, I'd really go for the XC70, as the 535i is lacking in any off road ability (as is the X5 for that matter).
You obviously haven't read about BMW transmission failures, and failure of the OUTDATED 5 series side impact crash tests. And have you ever owned a BMW to say yours wasn't in "the shop" like an Audi?
For $14,000, I would probably get the A6 and buy a Fit for when the children grow up. Lol. But I like Dave Thomas as a reviewer; much better than Mike Hanley and about tied with Joe Wiesenfelder.

What??????
I have an Audi sport wagon because I get utility along with a great drive. Don't lump all of us into your boring minivan life style.

Not to mention Audi has more rear legroom and trunk space, plus both have bi-xenons. Volvo doesn't. They're a requirement period.

Leather interior is an illusion. Hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Not a luxury at all but a useless cruel option.

How can you say Audi is more exclusive? that is a joke I owned a new audi and it was always in the f'ing shop - it's a volkswagen for christ sake
BMW is way better than crappy Audi and BMW's don't lose their value like other cars..

I think the XC70 is WAY better than the 530i! The price is insane! Instead of a wagon, I'd save $7000 for a fully loaded Acura MDX.
PorscheCayenneLover 2 years ago 3
i would do the same, although overall BMW is a better car company but maybe not if you factor in the price tag.
