you should try a gun that shoots zarmor balls or uses the zamor launcher. My zamor tank mounts 2 of these guns with 35 balls each, thats really funny shooting lego walls down with that

There is a firing mechanism that converts motor rotation into elastic energy. The quick release of that stored energy (like catapult) fires off the marble.

Thanks for the comments. I can safely say that Lego mindstorms do not have tracks and therefore, it is not really feasible to make a tank out of it. However, I can say, you can make quite a good intelligent robot out of mindstorms. If you want a tank, maybe you should look elsewhere for some other tank making brands where things are more user friendly for tank making. Lego does have a lot of limitations when it comes to tank.

It uses a 24 teeth gear as the driving gear with a rack. The 24 gear teeth is modified with 14 teeth removed according to the book "Forbidden Lego" machine gun. Nothing new, mechanism is similar.
