nice vid man. im just wondering about when you pull the record back...do you close the fader like the second half of a chirp or do you close it when your back to the starting position? cheers man keep it up
dood ive been watching ur videos for abit now, your got skillz bro. Hows was the pioneer 707? im picking one up used for dirt cheap, worth it? Hows the optical fader vs ranes magnetic?
wow im such a noob, ive been doing "tap open close" so it hasn't been sounding how a boomerang sounds.... i think tap open closed is a delayed flare??
i searched a LOT of tutorials and yours explains it the best for me. i really like how you broke down the fader movement cause i wasn't getting that from the other ones i watched. thanks!
Dude you break the shit down and i can get it better when you do it. Put more tuts out i wanna battle qbert in the future and need to learn. LOL........Can you do some tuts hampster style plaese!
Thanks. It took a while, don't remember exactly how long since I never really focused on it or practiced it for days at a time. Usually I practice the trick constantly for the first few days and then go back to my usual tricks and practice it only every once in a while. Eventually I get better at it and then I start working it in with my other tricks.
Sometimes I just wanna scratch what I know and other times I wanna learn new tricks. It usually depends on my mood.
Your prolly talking about the tutorial where it says it's a 2 click delayed but it's really a boomerang. It's a great tutorial, but it's a boomerang.
The 2 click delyaed is basically a 2 click flare, but delayed. More about changing the timing on a regular 2 click. The boomerang is completly different as it has different fader and record patterns. Hope this helps.
It's actuanot acutualy a break record. It's a song thats part of a real odd ball LP record called "a:xus soundtrack for life" lol. Part of a bunch of records I bought used. Good beat tho
Good lookin', I thought there might be a certain movement, like chirp flare combos, it helps to let go of the record...allowing you to do it a lot faster. Still, really glad you posted this man!
No problem, glad it helped. I might put up another tutorial on a 2 click flare - chirp - og flare combo. Just ran into it 2day. It's pretty straight forward and easy. I'll try to put it up 2day and maybe also the slow version of the autobahn.
Dope tutorial, Q explained them to me once or twice, but he was doing it over drums which was totally confusing for me. Anyway, i have the basic pattern down, but I'm struggling with making it faster...any suggestions as to how to keep my fader in tighter and make my movements quicker?
The speed comes in to play over repetition & getting used to the movements. This was a hard scratch for me to learn and I thought I could never do it fast, but the more I did it here & there, the more comfortable I got & the quicker I could do it. One thing I usually do is find a fast beat & do it as fast as I can while still holding technic, memorize the pitch, & every other day up the pitch a bit to gain speed. like lifting weights, add a little at a time. Hang in there. Hope this helps
yea, funny cover. I bought thr record thinking it was called pop corn just because when you glance at the words, it looks like pop corn untill I opened it up and saw the girl and her vage and realized it was cop porn. Good record. its up there with super seal
yeah definitely i liken the set of samples ( its fresh ahh) that little part is good and also the little opera part, its fresh
but its a good record, once i sorted the ring wear out its fresh as hell+ man have u ever bought a scratchoholics, skip proof tool for dj????? i recommend i have number two, its the best record i have the ring wear seems to be minimal and the record though it has lost most of its grip (lol) its like a perfect weight, i use it every day
Big shot out for this tutorial bro. Most of the others who post instructional scratch vids forget that they have a mic they can speak into and go mute for some reason. But vocal instruction is a better way of demonstrating scratches so thanks for using this method of teaching. If u ever get that sound delay worked out ur vids will be perfect. Do u think ull be doing any tutorials for other scratches like the Autobahn sometime?
Thanks man, i just kinna did what I thought would help me if I were learning it. My cam sucks. It's one of those cheap picture/vid cams and I have to place my head phones over the cam mic just to get a decent sound of the cuts. I'm in the market for a new cam, but i'll be posting a few more vids soon. I'll post one of the slow autobahn soon and the one click flare. Thanks for the comment
No way. I can't juggle good. Plus at a DMC level, my scratches are still a bit basic and amature. There are alot of scratchers on youtube way better than me. Maybe in like 5 years i'll think about competitions, but for now, just mixing and scrathing as a hobby. Thanks for the vote of confidence tho.
Pioneer DJM 707. The father of DJM 909. Has the same optical fader with lag adjustment and fader tension. Botyh adjustments are outside the mixer, so no removing plates to adjust. real good eq's for mixing. Can adjust up fader cuts to be sharp like a crossfader and also in reverse like for doing a euro scratch. Nice mixer, discontinued. You can pretty much only find em used. Traded my 06Pro and $150 for it.
No, the delayed 2 click is different. Someone put up a boomerang tuturial and called it a 2 click flare. It was a good tutorial, but it was a boomerang. The delayed 2 click flare is just like a regular 2 click flare but delayed. I have a tutorial on a mirrored double click flare combo which I think I do a delayed double click flare for a few seconds to expain the difference between the combo and regular flares. I'll put up a delayed double click tutorial soon.
thanks for the tutorial, its a great help, getting my speed and and hitting that swing rhythm has been driving me crazy but im slowly getting there
