Most of Europe, on the other hand, is a representative democracy with socialist parties (which are usually in the majority). Within another system, it can be of some benefit, but it doesn't work on its own.

Cuba was the economic leader of the central American region for decades. Forget that Batista was corrupt. The economy rocked. Now Cuba is cut off from American trade. Not unlike Israel. As I learned it;Politics is a pendulum.Sometimes it swings to the Right,others to the Left,but most of the time it's inbetween them.Men like Stalin and Hitler,artificially moved the pendulum past the point it would naturally go.And,that when you swing the pendulum far enough to the Right,you reach the spot at the top of it's rotation,where it turns into the far Left.And vice versa...Nazi---Communist...Doesn't matter.One of them was not a lesser evil.They were the same evil.Both needed opposing.

"Politics is a pendulum etc"; yeah, that's what I learned too, a swing too far either left or right brings you to a totalitarian hell, but that shouldn't be taken to imply that Fascism and Communism are morally equal. Stalin needed opposing; Communism and Stalin are separate things, same as Capitalism and George Bush are separate things. Hitler, on the other hand, WAS Nazism in a very real sense; it was his personal vision and it was utterly evil.

True enough,nazi-ism was his baby,as it were.And,in the Communist world,itself,they do differentiate between Marxism,Leninism,Stalinism and Maoism.Because of modern American politics,many don't see republic as a form of government and democracy as a way a government is put into place.So,no,they're not seeing Communism as a form of government and Nazi-ism as a domestic/foreign policy.Rome was fascist,it subjugated people,not genocided them.

Good point, I hadn't looked at it quite like that. No one in their right mind would suggest we re-institute the USSR; even modern Communists accept that it all went horribly wrong and whatever form Socialism takes in the future, it will never repeat the horrors of Stalinism. The Left have learned. The Right, however, still want to rehabilitate Hitler, rebuild the death camps and get back to killing Jews. That's the differnce; Communism made a dreadful mistake, Nazism did it on purpose.

Suffering from "genocide" means,or is supposed to mean according to dictionaries,that someone is trying to wipe out your entire ethnic or racial gene pool...The Romans never tried to wipe out the entire ethnic gene pool of the Celtic peoples of northwestern Europe.The Druids and charismatic leaders were singled out,as they represented Brehon Law.And under Roman rule Roman Law had to reign supreme.They were still a crimes against humanity,don't get me wrong.Just not genocides.

Ah, a scholar! Well met, sir! "Genocide" is a question of semantics; do we mean "succesful" genocide, or "attempted" Genocide? If we're being totally literal, there have been very few true genocides, whereas the Roman efforts to wipe out (or "Romanize) entire cultures could be construed as genocide.

Quite true.I was taught,that Hitler took Germany into Nazi-ism by going to the Right,though.And Lenin had taken Russia to the Left,before Stalin "ended up" in sole control.Maybe this was public education's warning against extremismin either direction.But the results did look much the same,indeed.Long before there was Youtube,I also read that Hitler creared the National Socialist Party Of Germany,because he didn't think the Soviet Communists were doing enough to take over the world.Mach schnell!

I'm not rehabilitating Stalin; the distinction I'm drawing between Communism and Fascism is that the crimes of the Nazis were premeditated and intentional, while the atrocities of the USSR resulted from a total cock-up.
To take a legal angle, the Nazis had both Actus Reas and Mens Rea (guilty act and guilty mind), wheras the Soviets had only Actus Reas (guilty act); its the difference between murder and manslaughter.

And Americans can goto Cuba, but people really think they are banned from Cuba. That doesn't make sense seeing that there is a medical school program that allow minorities in the US with high test scores to go to medical school in Cuba for free as long as they go back to the US and open up a clinic in the inner city and poorer areas.

Even Adam Smith saw the end result of capitalism, a centralized, all powerful tyranny immune from competition. Capitalism's usefulness and the good it provides has truly started to peak. The graph of its good is parabolic, and the slope has just gone negative.
