Well said. And THANK YOU for sharing this. This is EXACTLY how I feel. I don't feel that I should be doing anybody of service by changing who I am just to please someone's attraction. I have been myself ever since I came out at 17. I wish I had known you as a friend earlier in life.
My sexual identity is male, and I'm not ugly... but I've been ugly cause of acne when I was 14-17. And I've been rejected and left apart for that. I've always loved pop colture and I still am totally fascinated by Lady Gaga. Not because of the message in Born This Way, but because of the fact that she can be successful in the music industry without being the classical stereotype of beauty... I was wondering: Have you had an idol that helped you when you where younger? Maybe David Bowie?
@Howl93 Sadly, no. Richard Simmons was the only homosexual in my day and was something to fear. (which is bad, but its how it was) I had TERRIBLE acne. So bad, I'd miss weeks of school and I'd get chemical burns from the Retin-A and my mother would never pay for acne medication. The acne goes away! In the late 80s there was Fred Schneider. That was it. It was a much darker time. But don't worry... the acne will go soon and ull live beyond ur dreams.
Thank you for your words. You have an old soul that speaks to so many of us the truth that needs to be heard. It is nice to get the affirmation. THANK YOU JARA MATTHEWS.
Sometimes it's very hard for me to be who I am. I'm very confused because of media's constant change of views on homosexuality. There's so much hate even in gay comunity. I mean when masculine gays blame feminine gays for creating this stereotipical image of girly gay guy that often appears in the media. I thought we supposed to accept and not blame each other. And I am quiet hurt by this situation because I'm what thy call "stereotipical gay"
@reercudi Unfortunately that does happen. Because everyone is running from the pain. Masc gays who 'fit in' better may resent femme gays. Christian gays resent extremists, sober gays resent drug addicts. Everyone likes to point fingers and say "You're why we're persecuted!". The reality is, Christians will and have always killed anyone who believes otherwise. That's what war is. Everyone is programmed to hate male femininity. We have to consciously break that programming.
@aelius93 Well I'm actually overcame my thoughts of suicide like 4 years ago. And I'm not gonna do anything bad to myself if I don't see any support from people. Not very pleasant, but bearable. But I'm just thinking about younger guys who don't know what to do with their sexuality and how to identify themselves. It's like the most scary thought for me that some kid seeks for support and tries to speak with some gay guys & they tell him that he is the stereotype and the one to blame
@reercudi We femmes all battle suicide because we are on a very profound level, not welcome in this world. It's quite a struggle. We're treated like the runt that needs to be beaten masculine. I applaud your strength. As for your concern about others, don't worry. Even in our time of need, we always recognize when someone is just an asshole and we eventually find the support we need. Also, the power of the mind is great. Put it out there... If someone needs help, let me be the 1.
@aelius93 Thank you for your kind words, honey. It means so much for me! It's also nice to hear something good when there's so many people telling us that we are mistakes. Sending all my "cyber" love to you <3
@aelius93 It's intriguing to see how societies in the XXI century still reject each other. I accept I used to believe that feminine gays and the stereotype they've created in society had a negative effect on the gay community, but the reflections I've read here have made me aware of how the mental health of many can be ill-treated by our own prejudices. It's not just about Christians, it's about mankind labeling and rejecting people. Our world needs education that embraces people just as we are.
@reercudi well babe, any time someone is hateful they're out of line. Just stay focused on what's true. You are how you are. In my opinion, what's bothering you is the sense that they are better than you, because that's what they project. Be glad you are free from the Christian bondage. When masc homosexuals hate on femmes, what they're really saying is they'd rather fit in than be real. That's a sad sad thing. I have more to say, so imma reply again.
@reercudi Try not to take it as an attack. If you are a man's man and are gay, but the media constantly portrays gays like Jack on W&G, your frustrations are warranted. It doesn't mean you dont appreciate femme gays, it's that you're tired of not being recognized. What's important here is to recognize there is no ONE type of gay. To lump us together is perhaps a mistake. For me, i'm very femme, only attracted to very masc 100% tops, but other types of gays are equally valid.
@ivanvannik OH, BUT IT IS TRUE~! You are just overwhelmed and overpowered by the repressive forces. In time, the truth will overpower it. Trust in the universe that created you. You were created AS you are to be attracted to the type you are for reasons you may not see yet, but trust the universe's wisdom. Your sexuality is natural. A force of nature. Invincible and perfect. Every time you feel insecure, remind yourself of this and check back in in a few months and tell me how you feel.
@aelius93 I'm fine with my sexuality. It's just that the gays are superficial, the straights too, and all that matters is the way one looks. I mean, I get it, no one wants to be with an ugly person, right?
Anyway, you're cool and it's not a surprise that someone has loved you, loves you and will love you. It's just that if you're ugly most of the people would not give you a chance and get to know you. It has to be something more than the sex, right? Like, sometimes people need to talk.
(side note... I'm proud to say I saw this video when it had 22 views, I have the feeling is gonna go viral. You make very coherent point in just 6 minutes. )
