The gt was a high 14 secong car, the LX was a 14.60 car because it was the lightest and the convertable was a 15 sec car because it was the heaviest. Think about it the 2005 with 300hp and a little more weight is a low 14 sec car and with the right conditions can see a high 13.
@DoctorNambu Ive seen stock SRT8's in the right conditions run high 12.90's but thats on the right day at the right time and conditions. On most days they run 13.20's to 13.30's so trying to use the right day perfect conditions arguement is pointless. My best friend has a 92 fox 5.0 lx with flowmasters, underdrive pulley and 4.10's and his best time so far at the track is a 14.59. However a stock LX 5.0 was a high 14 sec car on most days.

I really like Subarus, but they aren't gods gifts to motoring. And yes, people have successfully rally'd mustangs for decades. Just takes a different technique.

not that i really want to be apart of this dumb argument...but i want to say something ive raced plenty driver mod can make or break a great car. lets say a stock sti runs 13.5ish they do that only is they can get out of the hole fast,meaning no bogging, same goes for mustang no frying the tires. factory 5.0 can run 14s small mods 13s then 12s. sti same thing. money is money if you dont have driving skill it wont matter. and on that note sti probebly broke somthing and mustang cant drive.

I find it hilarious when people compare their turbo'd WRX STI against a bone stock 5.0 Mustang and the inport fanboi's say it's faster! Well , no duh it's fucking fast! IT'S MODDED! Mod that 5.0 and the Subaru doesn't stand a chance! I like Subaru's don't get me wrong, but I hate the people that compare a bone stock car to a modded one! It's rediculous! Want a Proper match? Put a modded 5.0 against that modded WRX and then you've got a real race.

its because cars like the 911 are built WELL, designed to CORNER well, apply maximum torque etc etc, something the mustang lacks due to a car design that is well outdated.. but i guess some people like you will never understand.. all you know is how to drive in a straight line...... tip of the iceberg

@SirProStatus ok... bottom line. SUBARU>Mustang (in any real race) a drag does not define how well a car goes in terms of "racing". STi's were born in the world of Rallying, put your POS mustang onto a rally track and see how far it goes before it ends of sliding off into a tree (and you being a talk big " inexperienced driver", i wonder how fast you can wrap your car around a tree.) STi is state of the art where as mustangs are still based on the same design, i wonder how "teched" ur mustang is

@LethalityReloaded The new mustang has plenty of tech. DOHC V8, variable valve timing, handes very well, what else do you need? You don't need a computer controlled twin clutch transmission with active yaw control and 23 different differential and transmission maps to be high tech, or to be a good car. I really like Subarus, but they aren't gods gifts to motoring. And yes, people have successfully rally'd mustangs for decades. Just takes a different technique.

@LethalityReloaded They used to rally Mustang as far back as 1965... Mustang's second year of production. And yes, STi's look great, but look at the new Mustang and STi: Mustang costs ~7k less, runs a .5sec better 0-60, corners better, AND gets better gas mileage.
Im a Mustang guy all day, but when a car beats the Mustang, i'll be the first to admit it. You're simply disgracing the STi (an amzing car, btw) by being a fanboy and ignoring the facts.

Not sure what "sepped record" is but if you meant production car top speed record then I believe it is still held by the Bugatti family. @SirProStatus its not about the amount of cylinders and gas wasted that makes your car fast, you gotta consider pwr to wght ratio and many other aspects. and as far as im concerned, any real driver would pick an STI over a heavy ass mustang. no offense, mustangs ARE mustangs.... they pull. but theyre so overrated, heavy, and theyre like mitsubishis, simply cause its a ford youll come across tiny problems in some yrs and cant keep up with an STI on ANY track with the exception of MAYBE this drag
