  • @thaandiesel no they aint. its just these motors can gain good power from a 3" exhaust, and thats what most people use to get to the 220-230whp rang with bolt-ons and the intake manifold from the 06+Si. and the 3" will be loud, regardless. my K isnt loud one bit.

  • @joescivic im not talking about exhaust, the motor itself. i can tell the difference between exhaust an dmotor. your may not be loud, but ive seen plenty of races with kswaps and say the same thing each time. the difference to me about it is the end result, 2.0 litre motor easily running with 12 second cars, craziness!

  • dont think im a v8 fan boy either. i run a built 1g dsm(great platform). its just you cant get the reliable hp a big v8 can make. they make fun street cars but leave it at that. just look at the 2000hp street cars nelson racing is pumping out. when a v8 can make more power n/a then most 4cyls will ever dream of. a bolt on ls1 from the 90's can make almost 400whp and take a beating for 200k+ miles. it takes a decent turbo'd 4cyl to make that kind of power and it will never be that reliable.

  • @deadbeat86 probably a JDM spec K motor....JDM k20A series stock 220 to crank...tuned on k pro with bolt on's, yes it will touch 236 to the wheels easy.

    K20 A is capable reach 245 and 265 as well tuned by MUGEN, all natural.

    K26 stroker (K24) and K20 head is capable reach 360-370 WHP @ 10,0000 rpm.

    Do you understand that many american V8 engines can't go under 10's without supercharging or turbocharging. European engineers like Japanese always make lot's of power from small engines naturally. Look at Mazda's Wankel engines 3 or 4 rotor, capable each 500-550 NA runing about 10's easily, NSX engine, many small engines, even Skyline RB26 is without turbo capable reach 350 bhp @ 10,000 rpm, Mercedes 190 E 2.5, Audi 90 GTO, Fiat 1,8, 2,0, BMW 320 s42.. etc...

European and Japanese engine have more sophisticated engine heads than any OHV or pushrod. Of course you can upgrade OHV engines with ARAO 32-valve heads, but, like I said it would cost too much. Each head can cost 12,000-15,000 $ x 2...

    K20A you can find in Europe, used in good condition about 7500 $ with gearbox, so you need sequential g-box which cost 8,000 $, bigger cams(292-312), high comp. fuel rail, injectors, ITBs, little stuff, all that under 3000 $, and finally Civic with 2000Ibs, cost 800-1000 $. And you can run with naturally aspirated 4 banger around mid 11s. And if you looking, LS1 is little more powerful than tuned K20A, maybe even same. LS1 is about 10k$ with automatic over 15k$+car, light car

    I have few friends built more racing cars (drag, drift, track) than you ever saw. You clearly dont understand something. American cars are cheap in US, but not in the rest of the world. Mostly V8 are not good here in Eu, specially not because high prices of fuel and Germans like Japanese can make small engine, low MPG and reliable in same time, its engineering. You don't need to make 1000 CUI engine to make it reliable. I know much more reliable engines made by Germans.
