My feeling about this interview is a little misdirected, as raspy is not even close to the beauty coming from Norah Jones... Janis Joplin would be funky/raspy/ rock... I love both styles, but- Norah takes the crown jewel/// Envy from the Katie side might be in place here... even though I like Katie, Norah Jones is a very refined and eloquent lady-- both in looks and grace/ Balanced in Nature... even then she knew to put Katie at ease... maybe an age thing, even though Katie is good looking.

Wow, Katie Couric IS clueless, have to agree with some of these comments. There is no rasp to Norah's voice. Norah is to singing as Dove is to chocolate ... smooth, sublime, subtle, flavorful. Its beauty lies in its simplicity, its elegance ... just wonderful to listen to. No straining, no gratuitous frills like a lot of singers who are trying to prove something.

Katie Couric's got some problems with musical vocabulary. She said Norah's voice was raspy and unclear. But the fact is, that unlike many jazz and country artists, her voice is VERRY CLEAR and NOT RASPY, plus, there's nothing wrong with vibrato as Kouric said of ameican idol consestants, vibrato is something to be mastered, and Jones has it, just right.

Katie can't read her own notes. Obviously she was reading sparse and spare. I've never said spare when I meant sparse. I like Norah, but I'm not on the edge of my seat waiting for revealing answers to stupid questions. No artist likes to pigeonhole her music, and that was the first thing she was asked to do.
