so sad they they chose to spotlight a man "struggling" with homosexuality. no wonder there are so many kids out there killing themselves. it is not something to be ashamed of or something to condemn. for the love of god, yes, at least this one time, we are all perfect the way we were born! yes we have issues, but who doesn't? you don't need to lose yourself in a religion to find yourself. no disrespect, but religion is the reason why there is no tolerance in this world.
@frnoreason - Let me suggest something, religion is not the excuse for no tolerance. Mankind is the reason for no tolerance. Looking back through history there seems to be a single thread for why. That thread is greed, wars of all kinds are based in greed of one form or another. So, please don't use religion as the excuse for no tolerance. Greed is at the root, control is at the root, selfishness is at the root, mankind in general is at the root.
Great video with REAL talk. I had my first experience with Celebrate Recovery tonight and it was very moving and worth the time. The fact that Jesus Christ is exalted from the moment that you walk in the door is key. No judgements shown and I was free to be me.
If God is working in you, then you have better things to do than "get His back" on youtube, sweetheart. Another person's point of view shouldn't influence your own...
@kevini44 Read the Bible friend, every day and know that God loves you, Jesus Christ came to show us that. Trust Him that He is able to fill that place in you that currently needs alcohol.
"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13
"Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you." 1 Peter 5:7
Celebrate Recovery is a wonderful, God sent program. I've been involved now for a few months and it has totally transformed my life. For all of those that have something negative to say, like it's a cult or it's for religious zealots that want to brain wash people, I pity you. There's a different way that your comments could have been presented and the fact that they are so full of venom says a lot about you and your lack of awarness and consideration of others.
Sorry you didn't get the open to all faiths part. Being a person of faith you may have understood CR wanted to help you deal with a host of addictions through a Christ-based 12 step program. You would have been welcome to deal with any addictions and habits and hang ups that keep you from being faithful to God. You want to stay an "alcoholic" and still go to an AA meeting? I think you should thank God that your friend that was only trying to help you. Good luck in you walk of faith....
PRAISE GOD!! Friends I am product of answered prayers from family and friends and I am a product of Celebrate Recovery, Now I know that I am product of God's GRACE. MERCY AND HIS LOVE. What he did for me he"ll do for anywone, Thank you LORD JESUS. Thank you Celebrate Recovery, Paster Paul Doan Faith Assembly Church in Searcy Arkansas
My church just started this...some questions. So where does repentance, faith in Christ and the awesome power of God come in? Is this an endless program like AA or NA? Because if you are a new creature in Christ, you shouldn't need this stuff endlessly. And I say this as someone who God saved from my sin, which many would label as addiction. Just Curious.
Hey - I am really glad you found CR. For me "needing" this stuff endlessly is not the point. Paul says in the Bible that he "reminds" his readers of their needs. He says this often. We are always (and that goes for everyone in the church - addict or not) going to be in the "growth" process till we reach heaven. Also, to me one of the most important functions I now have is to be there for others, newcomers who need encouragement to keep moving forward. I hope this helps.
Well, CR does help over time...But, once your are pretty much through your addiction, pain, hangups ETC. You can participate in helping others during their time of need...Also, Your right, partically, You don't need it endlessly..But you can help others after you thing you don't need it.
Endless? Probably not. But if you look into the principles of the program you will see that CR is there to help individuals with their "hurts, habits and hangups." Once we have been "healed" or helped with whatever challenge we have, I think that we have an obligation to help others. Like AlAnon you don't have to go all the time. You don't have to go to every meeting in town everyday of the week. But if you find help, you can help someone else. Be a sponsor or accountability partner.
@really2k1 I think its all because people don't know who they are in Christ and maybe when people actually start teaching this, more people will be free
We have a start up date of July 9, 2009 at our church. Please pray for us- that God will use us for His glory to help ourselves and others. Christ United Methodist Church, Sanford, Florida
This just started at our church in march, and I just started going this week, and what a awesome program. I am going through some tough times with my wife, and I want to do all I can to change and be the husband that Christ calls me to be. Please pray for my marriage and that Anne will find the peace God can give in forgiveness. Through all the terrible stuff I have done, God forgave me. We are supposed to love our spouses like we love Christ, then shouldn't we be able to fogive!
If you want more info, Google Watermark Community Church Dallas TX (can't post a URL here) and once you find that site, you can look for info on our CR program there. Churches all over the country host CR so you can also go to the Celebrate Recovery site and find a group that way. I encourage you to check it out. It's a safe place to process through the hurts, habits and hangups of life with a group of Christ-followers who are loving, authentic and who are on a quest for healing.
@dendu I just started in the Celebrate Recovery Program and I'll say thjat I am in some fear about letting some things out but, I can say that Pornography is one of my favorite sins. To say that I am sin free would be a sin. Keep going when you start. Get connected and just try and be yourself.
Having been clean and sober 20+ years through AA, I am now getting involved in Celebrate Recovery. So far, I have found it to be an amazing program to show hurting people The Way.
Yeah it's a common theme.. After royally screwing up their lives with drugs, drinking and taking no responsibility for themselves and after painting themselves into some sort of moral corner from which they lack the wit or strength of character to escape from.. only then do they succumb to the allure of the miraculous ecclesiastical white out of religion. Trading one addiction for another and now they can take even less responsibility for themselves.. it's in Jeebus' hands now..
CR has none of the aspects of a cult...it is purely voluntary, and short of intervention from God, nothing happens until a person takes responsiblity for their issues and moves forward in the healing process depending on Jesus Christ the whole way. We admit we are powerless with out Jesus. i doubt that anyone who claims this a cult has ever even read the 12 steps or recovery principals. I hope they will before smearing the name of such a blessed ministry.
It's actually AA twisted back to the truth by scripture. It is Christ centered. I am free from alcohol through Christ because of this program. Why don't you go to one first. These churches are actually dealing with people like me instead of looking at me funny and pretending my problem is not there. It works. I am living proof. Thanks be to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. That's Christ centered. It is the sick who need a doctor. I was sick. Now i am healed. AMEN!
Bill wilson recieved the 12 steps while he was in a trance. The man habitually cheated on his wife and he was heavily involved in the occult. There is NOTHING biblical about those steps.I have never seen so much abuse of scripture. The beatitudes have nothing to do with recovery.AA is a cult.
This is better than the AA cult. I was in AA for 3 years and they hated me for being christian. AA is a cheap version of scientology.

tmwnat 2 years ago
I found out about this group through a
member in Bainbridge, Georgia who tried to recruit me by lying to me about the program being "Open to all faiths/Higher Powers" , and .....
conveniently avoiding telling me they want to brainwash gay men and women.
Hmmm! A church that lies?! Imagine!
More typical cult crazies preying on people in pain with the promise of a free meal and feigned 'acceptance.'
Where's the 12-Step Program for helping people get deprogrammed from religious
zealots?
