Hi, I have a satellite dish that has two cables which are Nilesat and Badr (Arabsat) but I also want to add Hotbird with them which means there will be 3. I heard that you can just set up a Hotbird LNB on it and it will work, but I'm no expert and I tried to research but I couldn't understand how to, Any Help Please?
On the video you say that for this motor the dish elevation angle must be 35 degrees minus the declination angle which is used to find the true azimuth of a location and is a function (changes with) of the longitude and latitude. Why you have to subtract this value from your disc elevation angle if this value has not effect on the motor/disc interaction? Please explain. Thanks
I have a Direct TV worlddirect dish i think its 33" wide and 20Length. would i able to get 97w or do i need to a 39" and whats your recomendation on best LNB to get 97w.
@ThuyNgaVanson YES, YOU CAN USE THIS DISH AS A MOTORIZED ANTENNA FOR FTA. THE LNBF THAT COMES WITH IT WILL WORK JUST FINE. WE ACTUALLY HAVE ONE SETUP LIKE THAT AT THE OFFICE.
How do you protect your satellite dish and electronic equipment from lightenings?? I've heard that there's such a very low probability of being hit... you know once get an expensive led 3d tv you just want those things away lol!
I am able to get great video on my Mercury II receiver, but the receiver lost all the satellite Longitude, and Latitude information. After some work I have tried to install the latest information using the loader program without success. The loader program works up to where it is waiting for the receiver to accept the upload. The receiver does not do anything when I turn it on after the loader program is run.
@semco72057 Try to contact Fortec Star and see what they would recommend. Also you can contact techguy @ wildblue.net He is a technician and knows the Fortec receivers. He maybe able to fix it for you for a fee.
@SadounTube I will probably have to contact the techguy since I have contacted Fortec without any luck. I am using another receiver now which seem to work fine even though it say that I don't have any quality levels. Thanks for the information on the Fortec Receiver.
Thanks, Very helpful, lot of information that helps you with setting up your KU Dish from the very start. Its hard to keep all this information in memory. Nice to be able to go here and refresh my memory about how it is done.
The video is very helpful and the only addition I would recommend is the location where you would use to adjust the elevation of the motor which gave me a headache since I was using the wrong one at first.
Look at this video xaqt9bCdzf4 at 0.26 you will see the bracket with LATITUDE markings. This is what you use on the motor to setup your motor elevation (same as your latitude value for your location).
Hi guys. Please don't forget to RATE this video. Also, if you have a BLOG, forum, or Website, you are allowed to add a link to this video or to embed it in your posts.
i have PS 5 PowerSat Receiver. Every now and then i lose channels and i get a "no signal Message" do you know what do i need to get my channels back. Thanks for your help
@arabicheat "no signal" means your dish lost alignment with the satellite. You will need to adjust the dish alignment. If you have a motorized system check your TRUE SOUTH. Use USALS to move the dish and do the readjustments.
Also, you may have a defective F-conenctor,cable, or LNBF.
Happy New Year to you and the other staff of Sadoun Satellite Sales. I am so happy with my system and glad I got the package deal which is working like a charm.
Thanks so much for replying, and I will remember the RG-11 since I didn't know about that cable. The system is now working fine and I am so happy until people are probably tired of me saying it. I find myself watching this system more than my subscription television and will be buying another receiver this year to use with this system for another room. Thanks so much for the tip on the cable and I will be shopping at Sadoun more in the future.
Since my last comment I have been able to get over 12 satellites and have added some which was not programmed into the receiver. Right now I am losing my power from the receiver to the motor and think that it is in one of the RG-6 cables running to my receiver. As soon as the rain stops here I will start replacing the closest one to see if this problem is solved. I am fairly sure that one of the cables is bad and is troubleshooting the problem.
I would recommend using an RG6 with SOLID COPPER CORE conductor. Or even better, use RG11 with SCC. That way, the motor will get enough voltage and current at long distances from the receiver.
My dish, motor, and receiver is working fine now and I love many of the channels I receive. I just have to figure out which cable is causing the receiver to stop sending power to the motor sometimes. There must be a bad cable somewhere in the two attached.
Hey,can i get intelsat.thor 1w if my dish is attached to the wall in a semi-detached house?i have a 90cm dish..technomate 1000D receiver..i cant go further west thatn PROBABLY 0.6 thor..because then my dish hits the wall..thanks
I have setup my dish and is able to receive three satellites with good level and quality. There is some satellites where I get a good quality signal, but a poor level signal. Can you tell me what is going on with them?
I have the dish set up according to the instructions on the site, but still receiving weak or no signal. The best I keep getting is 9 on signal level and quality. On one satellite the quality signal will flash to 60 percent temporarily.
If still no quality, adjust the Dish elevation Up or down 1 degree at a time, then dow a slow sweep East or West around your True South Direction. Once Quality shows up, tighten the motor on the mast, then slightly adjust the dish elevation to get the maximum quality level. Once that is achieved, then you can scan the satellite for available channels.
After the channel search is complete, you can now search for a new satellite but using the Antenna Setup menu and USALS only. No need to
USALS is the easiest way to align the motorized dish. The motor will get the command from the receiver to move the dish to 97W. When it stops, you will need to verify the signal on your Antenna Setup screen. Make sure you are using a live transponder on that satellite.
If the signal bar is fine, but the quality is not showing, try to adjust the true south angle on the motor a few degrees to the East or the West and watch the quality BAR.
What satellite do you point at once you have the true south?? For example i live in toronto canada and the true south would be 190 W ...... but do you point the dish to a specific satellite or just leave it at 190W??
Once you get your TRUE South direction you should aim the motor and dish to that direction 1st. Then select one of the satellite in the Antenna Setup menu that is within +/- a few degrees from your longitude value. For example Toronto is at 79.4 West longitude. You could use Galaxy 19 (97W) the 1st satellite to get signal from. To get the motor to move the dish to 97W, you MUST use USALS. Otherwise if you use DiSEqc 1.2 you will be wasting a lot of time trying to get a perfect alignment.
"Motor Elevation = Site Latitude" this may be true for this motor but it is not true for all motors. For example, my SG2100 is to be set at "56" even when my latitude is 34.1N. This is calculated on a chart in the manual....
Most motors have a Latitude scale on it. Just use that scale to set the motor elevation angle. That is what I meant when I said "Motor Elevation = Site Latitude". There is usually another scale called elevation. Just ignore that.

Yes, you can. Just make sure the line of sight to the SOUTH is un-blocked and when the dish rotates to the East or West, it should not hit the roof or the wall.

Easiest way to find "True South"
Divide the time evenly between Sunrise and Sunset for your location.
Turn the motor and dish assembly by hand towards the Sun at that time.
Tighten down the bolts and adjust Dish Elevation according to specs.
That's it - You're finished.
Takes about 5 minutes.

@Nando85Q You will have to ground the dish and coaxial cable using grounding wires, grounding blocks and grounding rods.
Also, use surge protectors on your equipment inside.
Do a search on Google on how to protect your electronic components from a lightning strike.

G25 is the old name for 97W. It is called Galaxy 19 now. The name changes often, the important thing is the location of the satellite.

Good video. At 1:21 you say the dish angle is at 35 minus declination...how is the dish at 35? Thanks.

@chalemi The dish elevation depends on the motor you use. For the Sadoun Powertech motors the dish elevation is usually 29 degrees.

you get a compass - work out which direction to point the dish - then set the vertical angle
- these motors are fucked - always have to adjust the dish - better of just moving it yourself manually
