Also, the original Avengers were assembled by fate, not SHEILD, but the ones in this movie ARE, hence the inclusion of Natasha Romanov . These movies have their own continuity, thus, it wouldn't be out of line to assemble Spider-Man or Wolverine (since they have proven to be anchors in the 616 New Avengers) as long as they don't overdo it [or recruit Ben Affleck's Daredevil]. :D

Who cares if Edward Norton asked for more money. When it comes down to movies such as Marvel where there are possibilities of three movies, spinoffs and crossovers, they don't pay the actor per movie. Samuel Jackson explained how his paid contract indicates that he will have to work with them until approx 2018, assuming that there will be sequels for all the movies that have Nick Fury in it. Basically, who knows what the contract entails, but maybe he was getting paid less compared to Scarlett.

People are saying it's no big deal, but it's like replacing Bale with someone else for Dark Knight or replacing Tobey Mcguire in Spiderman II. It wouldn't feel right.

Basically, even if the sequels or trilogy is a sinking ship, keep the same actors.
