Bet you did not like the idea of converting the "dirt pile" into Cahaba Village either, did you? Look what a great addition that has been and the traffic is better now just as the experts said it would be.
I didn't oppose the "dirt pile.' In fact, I've never opposed any development in my life until this project came along -- one that threatens to ruin the community that I love. I live nearby and have children at the elementary school. We have zoning laws to protect our residential community from over-development of this kind.
Actually they propose bulldozing 27 acres of homes and many, many mature trees. The parking lot of Western will be replaced with 2 four-story decks, containing 437,630 ft2 (that's a lot) of concrete.
Looks like a great idea to me. The current building is a piece of trash and needs to be torn down!

2.6 acres of the 27 acres will be parking deck. Your 437,000sf statement distorts the truth of footprint area.
