  • Another great song by Larry Evoy!! Thanks for the video

  • I have been searching for years, to find this song, I know all the words by heart, but never knew the name or who actually recorded it-----I thought Terry Jacks did it------My search is over

  • I heard this on the radio for the first time in 30+ years about a month ago. They don't make songs like this anymore. For you, Ellen - RIP

  • One of the most under-rated groups of the late '60's and early '70's.

  • Love Edward Bear, just brings me back....sweet memories. Thanks for posting!

  • i love this

  • It's sad that this great group didn't get the full credit it deserved. Superior music lovers long for the great music of yesteryear.

  • Really tells a story. Beautiful.

  • Thanks for doing this! So many great memories of my youth! Peace :D

  • I have to agree. Edward Bear was and still is a great sound. I never tire of listening to them.

  • I loved this song when it first came out & can't remember the last time I heard it!

    Brings back fond memories...

  • the video is faggy, song is amazing, guess it balances out in the end

  • nice job, brings back memories and a tear or two.

  • I love this song I just intoduced this to a friend of mine.. who has gone thru hoops for me...plus Close your eyes,....he never heard it before thought it sounded alot like Bread...he is a very talented singer drummer that needs a break...then he listened again...guess what totally hooked...Thank you Larry Evoy....for all that you did back then and now I still listen If you ever make it to IOWA ...I want to know

  • @bwonder6942 I meant I he heard Last song and Close your eyes .....It all made sense to him .... then he wondered

  • Yeah it does sound a bit like Bread bwonder6942. Best wishes back home--'tween the Missouri and Mississippi

  • Love the bells/chimes. Funny how much little things can add.

  • I remember this song, loved it. You mean it wasn't a hit!!??

  • my dad showd me this song.

i cry every time i hear it <3

  • Great job with the video. Enjoyed it. Never heard this song by them.

  • what a great song!!! Ty for posting Gripedwards! This song never gets old and is always on my play list! :)

  • Thank you, Delilah, for showing me this song!

  • @nthomas87

Yup, thanks to Delilah. She used to play this song all the time at the end of the show and that is how I first heard this song and loved it! I have searched for it forever and some how found it on here. Big thanks to gripedwards!

  • great group

  • fuckin bad ass

  • Played this as a 45 back in the day. Who could have imagined YouTube back then?

  • Anyone know who the girl shown is whenever the chorus is "close your eyes"

  • Thank you , Larry and the boys. Wonderful sound. Makes me proud to be Canadian.

  • I like the video you created gripedwards does anybody know where I can download the MP3 version of this song? Everytime I type in the artist Edward Bear it always comes up with Last Song and that's it.

  • havent heard this song since Don Kirsher's show in the 1970's It is sad but one of the most touc hing and beautiful songs I've ever heard. I've played it 50 tomes. Thank you. Oh yeah, what were the other guys' names in the band. ? great video!

  • *Cause its all the same...* :) Wow, I have been looking for this song for a few years, but I couldn't remember the name of it or who sung it because I hadn't heard it almost 10 years. This used the be the closing song for the Delilah show and what I used to look forward to hearing every night before bed. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

  • Wonderful song from a wonderful time.

  • Sorry Larry December 1974 Middle Distrivt High School, memory to old to remember anymore

  • This brings back many memories. I was still living in the CSSR and when we got to go outside we'd gather up as much music as possible. I think this song, "Last Song" and "Mexico" will be forever etched within my mind.

  • I think this song make a lot of us wish we could somehow run back into our past and be with someone we lost. Very poignant.

  • i love it

    1:51 - snoopy. :)

  • All my life I've preferred heavier music, like Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, but Delilah has always been a guilty pleasure of mine. She always played this song and I always wondered who it was until now when I recognized his voice from "Last Song." Great song.

  • I heard this song a lot summer '73 when I worked out of state--away from home for the 1st time, cried some, oh shit.

  • je bent er weer!

  • Thank you for this song and the wonderful video. I have looked for it forever as it brings back so many memories! Thank you again....very beautiful!

  • Nice post! Thank you!

    Great song!

    Very nice video!

  • I'm afraid to click on your room, or whatever it is called. Would hate to see you are young enough to be my daughter! LOL Loved this tune when it came out, and had the LP. Although, from other posts, I think I am far from being the youngest here!

  • Thank you very much for posting this :) One of my very favorite songs.

  • Kept EB from bein' a 1 hit wonder in the US. Peaked at #37 in Billboard. How'd it do in Canada? God bless!

  • @DaveWollenberg This great Edward Bear song peaked at #3 here in Canada..Brings back many good memories. The band had many hits up here and were far from a one hit wonder. Glad our good friends from south of the border remember EB -:).

  • Thank you this was always one of my favorite songs. I remembered it when I went thru a divorce and it helped me. geat job on the video! Love the Snoopy drawing!

  • @1:37...hot guy alert!

  • I saw Edward Bear last concert at Milton District High School, I have no idea who score this band for a high scgool gig, but it was very cool, we always had great DJ's from CHUM radio and many other bands, so really cool, I never knew who the band at the time, and I don't remember the girl I danced with that night, but I got lucky, married now, and wish I had a refund, but I remember I really really liked the girl, wanna marry if you remember me laughing,

  • @harrisonford2010 .....say what?

  • This is the song that is sung at the end of the Delilah radio show at midnight. I searched and searched for the name of that song because it was so great and reminded me of my son and his former girlfriend. I love this song and the video.

  • @snowflowerz1....sorry...i just gave you a thumbs down by accident.

Yah, i haven't listened to delilah's show for ages, but i always liked the way she ended the show with this song. kind of sad, though.

  • I'm with you mainrmdj! Love the lyrics, keyboards, guitar, and, of course, vocals.

  • i totally agree with edwoodtwo! I loved "Last Song", but when I heard this follow-up, i was even more hooked. I guess I can see why "Last Song" was bigger, but I always thought this deserved more hit status than it got back then. Still sounds great today, totally what's missing in radio "hits"! LOL, but then again I'm an older guy.

  • except for album covers.. cant find pics of Edward Bear........ very strange.

  • :55 - 1;1"cause it's all the same

    Change your lover s

    change your name

If you need a friend ...

Close your eyes - I'm back again

    Nice song ...

    Thanks for posting

  • All this group's singles were good enough to be #1 hits. Should have been too. But there was lots of great music from that era.

  • this song just as good as any other song they play today. love this song ever since i was a kid ,always bought 45s back then my school lunch money even...lol

  • Gumbybythesea:

Figure out what you are talking about b4 u put it in a post.E.B. is nothing but canadian.where did u get this from america bullshit. typical...

  • It was in the late '60s or very early '70s that Led Zeppelin was the opening band for Edward Bear in California (I'd have to search where in Cali). Their first two albums were more guitar inspired with Danny Marks who pursued his own career. I'm hoping that they will re-unite to play as many bands are doing now. Yeahhhhhhhh :)

  • You almost Got That Right Sport.... But It Was ~EDWARD-BEAR~ Who Opened Up For The Great ~Led Zepplin~ lol

  • missed my misses she was still there after all those miles

  • this song was a big hit in canada

  • Canada;'s David Cassidy

    that's why

  • Sounds like him , but did not have the girl thing

  • The Yanks in the Northern States are grateful for the ability to experience the wonderful talent to the North via Radio.

  • It kind of makes me feel sad when I really listen to the lyrics :(

But beautiful song I love it :)

  • where did you find this song

  • Does that ever bring back memories! Thank you so much!

  • I love it, its very touching

  • I had never heard this song before but I really love it. Thanks for sharing. I put it in my favorites. :)

  • I grew up with this music on small town Canada radio, but never really realized it was Canadian. I am amazed about how many of their songs I know....

  • I remember when Edward Bear was starting out, playing bat MITZVAHS AND junior proms in Frankfort, KY before leaving for Canada.

They knew anything American would sell in Canada, and it worked for them. They used that jumping off point to re-enter the US and become a smash for a short time.

    Kentucky Rulz!

  • What? Edward Bear are Americans??

  • No, Edward Bear is Canadian and are named after the real name of Winnie the Pooh which is a British story written by A.A. Milne.

  • "Winnie" the Pooh was named for a Canadian bear from Winnipeg, Canada

  • My favorite Edward Bear song.

  • love it...love it....

  • Great song. Follow up hit to "Last Song." I heard this played on WIP and WIOQ in Philly back then. So much great stuff never got the airplay or recognition it deserved. Thanks for posting it.

  • Just a beautiful melody

  • When my older sister first had her daughter she came back home to stay with us because her husband was away at ARMY reserve training. We shared a room big enough for her daughter's crib. Every night when this song would play on Delilah my neice would never cry. Brings back memories.

  • how nice...her husband survived?

  • Yes, they have two more daughters now.

  • Played in a band called Polecat and opened for them at a drop-in centre in Milton Ontario when I was 16. Thought we hit the big time. Larry Evoy wrote some of the best melodies to come out of Canadian rock. Great post thanks

  • reminiscent of sweeter more innocent times like the 70's. Oddly, it reminds me of my sweet GSD I had to put down on Tuesday. :( ahhh..those were the days.

  • cool song, I actually made a music video for a song with the same name by Justin Hewitt - Close Your Eyes, it's all stop animation.

  • I thought the video was cool too. Excellent job Gripedwards :)

  • Well, thank you boy2002002.

I did put alot of work into it to try to do the great tune justice.

Can't please em' all, though! :D

  • This is a rare oldie that instantly transports me back to the time it came out, in this case '73. Upon hearing the first few notes, the friends I had then, family now gone, and especially what radio station I was on at the time and all the DJ's I worked with are there again, like it was just last week. I could never believe this wasn't much bigger. Never hear it now. It stopped at #37 in the States; in Canada was #3, the same rank as "Last Song" had been in the U.S the year before.

  • my best friend when i was moving away gave this song to me we listened to it on the dalhia show and she gave it 2 me but we nver knew the name or who sang it thank you

  • Thanks for posting this.

  • Was a hard rockin guy back in the time when this little beauty hit the airwaves. Consider it to be one of Edward Bears best works. I get teary every time I hear it. An absolutely beautiful song, but I can't seem to pinpoint why it makes me cry!

  • Love the bells/chimes. Funny how much little things can add.

  • Great comment

  • great music from a better time long gone

  • You sure got that right ! a much better place in time and i sure miss my old CCM MUSTANG BIKE ! GOOD TIMES , GOOD TIMES !!! "great music from a much better time long gone "

  • Edward and all his little bears would be proud, you did a great job :-) Thanks for sharing this classic, it never received the acclaim it should have back then, IMHO. So wonderful to hear it again!

  • So THIS is the song Delilah closes her show with. I was wondering what it was for years!

  • I have been searching for the song that Delilah closes she show for a few years now. WOW, finally I found it. I love this song. Thank you so much for posting :)

  • me and u both has been searching....i remember deliliah used to play this song everynite at the end of her show at midnite

  • Edward Bear was such a good group and I always loved how they mention Last Song. I still this, Last Song and You Me & Mexico on 45.

  • Thanks so much for sharing this great song! Edward Bear came to our town way back , but we missed the concert when our busted old car broke down. Bummer!

  • I'm so glad I started looking through You Tube tonight. I had totally forgotten this song existed until I saw it when I played Last Song. God, what memories!

  • ohhhh how i love their tunes:)

  • your inages make the song complete

  • This tune bring back memories....classic rock memories...with this band.

  • For some reason I've always had a special place for this song. I think it was because it speaks of a lonely child at odds with the world.

And even though I've lived in Montreal and Toronto for most of my life I never knew until now that Edward Bear was composed of Canadians.

    Thanks for posting it....

  • Delilah played this at the end of every show when I was a teenager anyone else here of her????

  • Yeah. I used to listen to her all the time until she switched stations, and I haven't heard her show since. I really miss it.

  • I'm glad you put this song on, because I was looking for it.

  • I heard this song when it was on the radio back in 1973, and two years later (when I could afford to buy records) I bought the album. At around the same time I bought the album before this one (just called 'Edward Bear', with the hits Masquerade and Last Song). Many years later I bought a used copy of the first Edward Bear album (called 'Bearings'). I still have all three albums.

  • i was a teenager when this came out, loved it then, still love it now....thank god for the 70's

  • Hey I love this song!!!! And this is a great music video.

  • has anyone got the mp3? it's very rare. i need to send this to a friend. she used to go to sleep listening to this, but the radio station that used to play it at midnight doesn't anymore. g'darn pop music. i would buy it but im too young to have a credit card.

  • You can get it for free on limewire

  • No...Don't do that.

Please buy the CD "The Best OF Edward Bear", available easily at your local CD shop or online.

Support these artists for these great tunes they gave is all, don't steal from them.

  • I'd love to get things free now. I requested a bailout from the government; but I wasn't on their favorite list. Have to be a big shot executive from Wall Street.

  • Superb sequel to a Grand classic!

  • This is one case where the sequel was better than the original hit. Thanks for posting this very fine song.

  • I agree....I've always loved this song.

  • This is a fantastic song... the ironic sequel to Edward Bear's huge hit Last Song.

  • Saw them on solid gold from the usa , great songs when music was real

  • First heard this on the Delilah radio show.. Have loved it since.

  • Me too! She used to end her show with it every night, as I recall.

  • Thank you for posting this loving song. I appreciate having it and your video here for me to enjoy over and over. Love Katrin

  • Gee, what a great song. Takes me back to my first love. Heartbreaking when we seperated.

Many great songs come from our neighbors to the north. Thanks for all of their contributions.

Do you know where I can purchase an MP3 of the song?

    Thanks,

    Ken

  • Have you tried Amazon?

  • Thanks so much for sharing - I had the pleasure of seeing the band many times in Toronto -- brings back a lot of memories :)

  • I'm jealous. I never saw them. They are my personal Beatles. I am form the US Midwest. 50 y.o.

  • An underappreciated gem of a song. I was in Chattanooga when it "charted", it did fairly well there. "Last Song" was played on Chatt radio for FOREVER.

  • I have loved this song for 35 years...THANK YOU!

  • You did a great job on the vid!!!

And thanks for posting this song!

  • great song.

  • I can't believe you responded to my text comment so quickly. It's as if my wife is by my side telling me to say thank you so much. I'm a Canadian and have never met any American who has ever been anything but helpful and kind. May God bless you and may God bless the United States of America!

  • I am a Canadian and have been very impressed by Americans who went out of their way to help me. I love America and I love music which we share. God Bless America!!!

  • hahl:

Your comments about your wife really touched my heart.

My condolences on your loss...I'll be glad to post "Masquerade" for you, may take a day or so.

And thank you for your kind words, I'm glad this brought back good memories for you.

    Grip

  • Dear gripedwards, Love Edward Bear! Is there any way you could post "Fool"?

  • Nice! I thought I was the only one who remembers that. I've got the 45.

  • Thanks so much for the song. It brings back wonderful memories of my beautiful girlfriend (my future wife in 1973). My darling died of brast cancer in August,2007. Any chance you can find and post Masquerade by Edward Bear also from 1973(I think)? Even if you can't, thanks again for posting this one.

  • My condolences, sir.

  • This is the closing music for Deliah's nighttime radio show aired on most AC radio stations!

  • wow .. didnt know that. I wont dis Delilah anymore

  • Nice Music Video!!!
