"officers are no longer allowed to use pepper spray as a torture device on non-violent activists."
Yeah they won $1 each. But officers are obviously using these torture technologies with the Occupy movement everywhere: "Attorney Bob Bloom: 'it’s real hard to get..eight jurors, to say that the police did the wrong thing..' He is satisfied,'This is a jury saying that this is excessive force. ... it’s not just Humboldt county (that) can’t do this. They can’t do this anywhere in the country.'”
If this was any member of my family, I would not be able to sleep. I would systematically hunt each and everyone of those motherfu%ker cops down, like the rabid dogs they are... I would hang each & everyone of those motherfu%kers heads on the doorknobs of their front doors, for their family to see, who give a rats ass about a law suit, or going to prison, at least in prison I will be able to sleep in peace. all rights reserverd...
people need 2 wake the fuck up & stop breeding (@ least the dumb ones)! we are what we eat & who wants 2 be poison? it seems most of us do or are ignorant 2 this fact and /or don't know how 2 break the cycle. all it takes is a little thought, effort & the will to be truly better. its a violent world & violence begets violence. unfortunately its the only thing some understand. embrace the creative/nurturing side of our nature(s) & be selfish by protecting our planet which we ultimately are.
Wait, they calmly explained what was going to happen (and at the time it was legal), they gave you every second of five minutes, and everybody stayed once the pepper spray application started...
Nobody was chained up, nobody was brought there against their will, nobody was targeted for being a woman (so don't pull the gender card)...
This is such a good example that rights are an illusion, that they apply only when you need them the least. Another good would be the Japanese during WW2 or the native Americans till this day, or the Muslim Americans today. I'm upset by what I see but I'm even more empowered to make a difference. Seeing people suffer for what they believe in, so much truth in that alone.
Peaceful my ass! These idiots drive rods into trees which then kill or maim loggers. Yeah it sucks that the redwoods are getting cut down, but is it the loggers fault?
I actually know at least one officer involved and they had absolutely NO right to use such an extreme method!!!!! The law enforcement here in Humboldt Co. is very corrupt and scary!! And just like the WANA B gangsters, they have no one to oppose them so they have free range.
The police may have not wanted to hurt them, that was pretty obvious. But that still doesn't change the fact that this is highly abusive. I don't care that they are tresspassing, breaking the law, or not complying, because the laws in place favor corporate entities over individual people and human rights, and the conventional channels of making change have proven ineffective.
The officers here are people too, but so were slave owners back then. It's amazing what a systematically flawed and corrupt institution, obedience and a uniform can make people do, and I think the blame is on that, not the individuals in it. Those officers are just following orders and doing their job, and they probably believe what they were doing was morally correct, because we are socially conditioned from an early age to do so.
Don't ever give up my sisters and brothers against the tyranny of the state. This is the kind of horrible bullshit you will face, but we have to be strong, we have to stick together and fight for what we believe in.
I don't feel sorry for these kids at all, I mean, it looks like they're just a bunch of annoying whiny middle class white kids with too much time wasting the time of the sheriff's department and the worst part is they try to make them look like they're MLK or Ghandi. I'm pretty left of center and I think protestors like that make the rest of us look bad.
@gag75 I love it how you don't actually argue with any of his points.
Oh fuck off with your high class ignorance. I've been sitting on the poverty line since I was a child, what the fuck do you know about any of us? I didn't crawl my way up out of the dirt to have uppity shit heads like you label me.
While I won't deny that I have been relatively fortunate in that I have a warm bed to sleep in and, if I ask people I know who have money, I can get help, I'm far from financially secure (I'm currently unemployed living on welfare) or rich. The point still remains, I hate annoying upper class douches who pretend like they're ghandi when in reality they're just a bunch of posers. Also almost everyone in that vid was a yuppie douches who got what they deserved. Fuck em from a real blue colllar guy
How can you be so heartless? It is a long distance between your personal dislike of these people and the idea that TORTURING them is justified for any reason. Do you realize the implications of what you're advocating? If you cannot extend your imagination enough to have some compassion, at least attempt to see the broader picture here. Police who are free to do this to nonviolent protesters are police who can do anything to anyone, at any time. Is that what you want?
@Marbles471 There's nothing wrong with non-violent direct action as long as the participants accept that the police will to force to try to stop them and that will often cause massive pain. People who aren't ready to endure this pain have no business conducting these kind of protests. Ghandi himself said his tactics took more courage than violence and nothing sickens me more than spoiled children like that pretending they're Ghandi and then crying foul when they get 10% of the pain he endured.
@majordbag2 well douchebag this blue-collar construction worker sez you're an asshole for even suggesting that it's OK to do this to people...my guess is you're unemployed and on welfare cuz you're a major douchebag amirite? btw...go fuck yourself
@oneirishpoet I think it's perfectly OK for the police to use pain to coerce people who have trespassed, chained themselves to make norma removal impossible, and refused repeated lawful orders to leave. As I said below, if you're not willing to endure the consequences of direct action, which may include extreme pain, you have no business participating in it.
On a side note, I've been employed since September, not relevant but you did bring it up.
If you live here, you know that since then they have done much worse. The cops here are nothing more than a highly organized gang with the law behind them. What they are doing here is punishing without a trial. This is torture, no matter how you look at it.
Using force to overcome resistance, and to effect an arrest. You were breaking two (2) obvious laws: Trespassing and unlawful assembly, they told you what they were going to do, gave you five minutes, then did it. Heck they even applied the mace gently with q-tips. suck it up
@GeneralUser1926 It doesn't matter, they was no need to use the pepper spray. What part of that do you not understand? If they were fighting the cops that would be different, but they weren't. They were subject to arrest, not torture.
@GeneralUser1926 No, perhaps you should learn how to read. They weren't resisting arrest. Resisting arrest would be pushing or fighting cops away as they move to arrest them. Try again.
they were resisting arrest, and delaying the officers duties, and by the way officers can use force to overcome resistance, which they were doing by holding on to eachother. two up, lets see what els you got...
@GeneralUser1926 Sorry to say, but that doesn't count. Delaying officers activities is not a valid reason to you excessive force, especially when the officers didn't even try to arrest them. Try again. Well then again, there isn't much to try, the evidence is quite clear. That's why they lost in federal court. That is also why they can't use pepper anymore with non-violent activists. They not only lost in the eyes of a citizen, they also lost under the law.
First, the technique worked and accomplished the goal of removing them from private property. Secondly, pepper 'spray' (capsicum) will burn *whatever* it touches. It will burn your skin, your hands and every body part it is sprayed on, including the eyes. By applying it only to the eyes, they were spared the pain to the rest of their bodies. ie: a relatively humane method of application was used.
Get fully sprayed by a cop and you will understand what I mean.
@rrevved There was no need to use the spray though. They weren't resisting arrest or being violent. They were just sitting there. Your argument fails on so many levels. If they started fighting the cops then that would be different, but they were just sitting there. All the cops needed to do is handcuff them and take them out. This is an example of excessive force.
stupid hippees should of just moved, how about i get all my freinds to go and sit in there house and refuse to move. lol what did they think would happen................
@123DRTHC The cops do not have the right to torture people like that. Think about it, they are non-violent protesters, they maybe trespassing but all the cops needed to do is arrest them. Pepper spray is only used when they become violent or resisted arrest, which non of the protesters did. So this is an example of police brutality, whether you like it or not.
@silverbackman yes they are resisting they are not moving when the police directly order them to and they curl up in a ball on the floor. that is resisting arrest. NICE ONE POLICE.
Dumb ass hippies, trespassing is a crime. You're fucking retarded if you think the cops are not going to forcibly remove you. They were much nicer than they had to be.
@divad838 I totally agree with you. But this isn't torture, nor are the actions of the cops legally or morally wrong. How are they acting beyond the law?
@BlueJames19 Yes it is. They are using pepper spray when it isn't necessary, to intimidate non-violent protesters. The protesters were not being hostile or violent, all the cops needed to do is arrest them but instead they wanted to flex their egos. They are scum, whether you want to admit it or not. They abused their power by using excessive force.
@silverbackman So it would be ok for me to come and protest inside your house? Send me you address and we'll set it up right away.
Idiot, you can't fucking trespass on someone else's property. Blame the police now, but you'd be inviting them into your house if I brough a bunch of my d-bag friends in there and wouldn't leave. Fucking retard.
@BlueJames19 Have you ever heard of something called civil disobedience? If someone came to my house to protest, I would call the police, but I would not want the police to use anything more than what is needed to remove them from my place. If they are just sitting their I want the police to handcuff then and take them out, not use excessive force and brutalize them.
Trespassing on someone's property is against the law, but so is excessive force by the police. So go fuck yourself moron.
@silverbackman You can't pick and choose the methods the police use to enforce the law. You're not an expert on law enforcement and thus your opinion of what is or is not "excessive force" is worthless. The fact that you were so offended by what the officers in this video did shows how weak and thin skinned you are. Go back to Berkley and continue to suck obama's cock, leave your opinions there because no one wants to hear them.
@BlueJames19 Suck Obama's cock? So now your trying to make assumptions on my politics because I am against police brutality? Ok I'll make an assumption on you, you are probably a racist sexist neo-conservative piece of shit. Go back to your hillbilly mountain shaq and fuck your brother and sister, you inbred piece of shit. BTW I'm libertarian, moron. Expert on law enforcement? No no, you are the expert on fascism move to Iran if you want this type of police treatment. I was just speaking my mind
@silverbackman Well I'm a Libertarian too, dick. But it's BS to think that a private business or citizen can't call the police to remove trespassers. I agree, we do live in a police state but just because some queer hippies got their feelings butt hurt from a little pepper spray doesn't qualify this as brutality. Brutality is a savage beating that wasn't warranted or abuse of power. Don't confuse Libertarianism with Anarcho-Capitalism.
@BlueJames19 I'm not anarcho-capitalist, and trust me you are definitely no libertarian. You are an Ayn Rand minarchist. You defend corporations like any other stupid neo-conservative redneck..oh and corporations are repressed minority eh? This is a sign of police brutality you moron, what else is it? You honestly don't understand the concept of civil disobedience. When a citizen does not act out in violent way, police are not supposed to resort to pepper spray. That's why they got sued and lost
cont. @bluejames19 You don't even know the fundamentals of libertarianism, so please shut the fuck up. It's obvious you have something against these "hippies", who by the way fight for the same civil liberties you claim to support. Of course you don't see that, you don't mind if corporations tear down all the forests of the world because you are so up your ass with your ayn rand corporate fascisim. You so called brand of "libertarianism" is tyranny of the corporations, so shut the fuck up.
@silverbackman Those are the words of an anarcho-capitalist to a T. Libertarians believe in the FREE MARKET with limited and common sense regulation from the government. What you're advocating is getting rid of all rules, police, having open borders and a big kumbaya love fest on top of it. Stop calling yourself a Libertarian, you make the party look bad and we have enough nuts as it is. Go back to rioting in Toronto and thinking 9/11 was caused by Bush.
@BlueJames19 This comment shows how idiotic you are, my words are that of an anarcho-capitalist? Are you that fucking retarded to not see that your words are far closer to anarcho-capitalism than I am? And for the record, look up the definition of "libertarianism" moron....I am no libertarian party libertarian, and besides civil liberties, the libertarian party is nothing like the real libertarianism, which btw fought for EQUALITY as a necessary condition for LIBERTY. You fail.
cont. bluejames19 Real classical libertarianism is a system of political philosophies that aspire to create a society that is non-hierarchical, without coercive control from an authoritarian state or the products of an authoritarian state, such as big business and other forms of coercive hierarchies. It is not, for your fake form of libertarianism that wants to protect the interests of the rich and powerful, and wants to undermine the common man/environment. Your Ayn Rand utopia is fascism, duh.
@silverbackman What you call "classical libertarianism" is now called anarcho-capitalism. Big business is coercive? Oh wow, so we should take it down a few notches because it's evil that some have and others don't. Yeah lets get rid of those evil people who want to make money and we'll all hold hands and fuck afterwords. Your wit must be sorely missed on the Harvard debate team. You're a fool, stop making the rest of us look bad and pick another term to label yourself with: anarchist
@BlueJames19 Wow it's amazing how fucking stupid you can be. Anarcho-capitalism? Is that the only thing you've heard? Your stupidity is amazing. Classical libertarianism is not some random modern day philosophy like anarcho-capitalism you moron. Classical libertarianism is libertarian socialism, you uneducated fool. You like to defend big business owners why don't you defend feudal lords too? Your backward ayn rand fucktarded form of "libertarianism leads to feudalism. Your argument got owned.
@silverbackman You're the kind of crazy libtard anarchist that makes most people roll their eyes whenever they hear the term "Libertarianism". You and your kind are the reason why no one takes us seriously. You want to criminalize success and the rule of law, you're no better than obama himself. I've got an experiment in mind: I come to your house, take a big fat shit on your best carpet and then refuse to leave. Will you call the cops? No no, because that wouldn't jive with Earth Mother.
@BlueJames19 Shut up with your uneducated babble. Learn the original definition of libertarianism and then talk.
And btw, you are the type of idiot that gives libertarianism a bad name, you make it sound like some kind of neo-conservative ayn random corporation worshipping system of absolute tyranny of the worst kind, of private tyranny. Go fuck yourself if you think 10% of the world should have 90% of everything. You are not for freedom, you are for fascism of the rich.
not violent fine let go and leave as you where asked its not as if they gases you with airisol spray and i bet once you agreed to leave you where treaded with water to relieve the pain so leave and dont come back and what does the officer haveing a daughter have to do with this you broke the law if you hit your thumb with a hammer hard enough i bet you wont want to do it again same thought applys here dont come back!!!!!!!!
@norcallogger Just because you break the law doesn't mean cops have the right to use excessive force, as is the case in this video. All the cops needed to do is arrest them. They were not resisting. It doesn't matter if they didn't get the full spray, that would have made the cops even worse. Think about it. There was no need for the pepper tips.
Before this happened it was routine to use a cutter to remove the black boxes- no chemicals were used. It was considered safe to cut the boxes off. Things were escalated here for the first time. Plus the girl was only 16 years old. And pepper spray is supposed to be sprayed from 3 feet not applied to the eyes, or directly to someones eyeball. That's why they won in court.
Thank God there are people that are strong enough to stand up for what's right. They saved the small but wonderful headwaters forest.. I'm glad that it was not logged. It's scary that we have to fight the government to save something so natural and beautiful.
I produced a piece in 97 of the spraying in Frank Riggs office in Eureka called "What's the Deal?" Frightening and creepy. I will be re-broadcasting it as soon as i do some minor editing and transfer it to DVD. Will post on You Tube as soon as possible.
@300mag83 wimps???? shut up you muppet!!!! those wimps took a pepper spraying for what they believed in.... yea really wimpish!!!! i would love to smash your face in........repeatedly
a bunch of save the whale losers here, i say strike them with batons until they give in and then jailed for no less than 6 months, tossing salad for half a year would change these unemployables attitude and they will find other ways to express themselves. they're illegal conduct is what the facts are here, not a respect me officer bs. you sympathetic people here are a sign of pathetic lifestyle that i disagree with, your bs is unexceptable, so i say officers do what needs to be done.
Three times within the space of a month in the fall of 1997, Humboldt County law enforcement officers arrived at peaceful sit-in protests for the protection of Headwaters Forest and, using Q-tips or spray at close range, applied the caustic chemical agent pepper spray directly to the eyes of the seated activists.
@haikucuple so what action would you take if i came into you house and starting makeing demands about how you should live your on someone elses land and that company either asked you to leave or the cops did and you refesed they do what ever is nessary to make you compley
Props on the protest, these dumb mother fuckers would sell all the worlds water to another planet if the price was right. Long term effects mean nothing to these people, maybe they need mace in their eyes to be woken up. WIll be in humboldt soon to help with all the good fights...
you fucking sick mother fuckers. I support every cop killer who ever lived, and is currently living. Cops are disgusting, brutes of the human race. American police are some of the only in the world with so much corruption, atleast in 3rd world countries you know the police will shoot you just for fun, so you stay away from them. Here you never know which one is having a bad day and decides to kill a nigger.
wow wow you support people who kill the police who will protect your ass no matter what you say or do the ones who risk their own life to keep the streets safe when an officer has to take a life its not just cause they had a bad day most of the time they are saving thier own life or the life of someone else. so think about what you said and whether you really mean it or not . i cannot speak for all police but most are very professional . as i will be when im sworn ill even protect your punk ass.
@wobinidan uhm how about, Saddam murdered his own people. Yes he tortured them too. THIS isnt fuckin torture dumb ass, they used LEGAL techniques to get these hippy protesters out of the place that they obviously didnt need to be. And they said "we are going to use pepper spray and or chemical mace on u if u dont move" and they didnt move... HAHA their fault. And id love to see what ud do if i just came into ur house and sat on ur kitchen table and wouldnt move...
@wobinidan I don't think it's torture if you can walk away from it. Protesters got what they wanted. I think Humboldt Cops are awesome. Trees grow back.
@thehotshirtguy2008 i agree this is not torture, excessive force maybe.... but as far as your "trees grow back statement", yes thats true but in their absence the local ecosystem becomes altered irreversibly through loss of species and habitat etc.... you should not comment so flippantly on matters you clearly have no real grasp on
@rockshandify this is, indeed torture. by definition, causing physical and mental and psychological pain and anguish and fear against a defenseless person. torture. duh. you must have your own private definition.
MAN THIS IS REDICULOUS im so tired of the cops and the system in this country its getting so corrupt man what happend to the old days when people were treated right
Seldom have people out of the main power channel been treated right ... Kent State to Wounded Knee to Randy Weaver beeing bushwacked to protesting in St Paul to this ... America ... love it like a redneck or leave it and forget trying to make it more sane. Guess I dodged bullets for a different kind of freedom.
The point of this video is about excessive police procedures used against people exercising the right to protest in a reasonable way. Pepper spray if for viloent offenders! There was a time they would simply be picked up and carried away rather than tortured and punished. This mentality is what caused Chicago (saw it) and Kent State where people died to for beliefs. The sadest part is those who support these tactics never learned the heart of freedom is to question and protest just like this!
Pretty sure tresspassing is illigal. Pepper spray is much more humane that trying to move people chained together. HSO was more than polite. They didn't yell, they didn't curse, they informed them of which laws they were breaking and gave them plenty of time to leave the area. They have every right to protest, but there are still laws that protect private property... right? They could have done it outside and that would have been legal.
but notice that its only until we are running out of it and the effects of all the oil we burned becomes clear that we actually start to change, to move onto another power source. only when we are forced to do we change, well we need to change our ways of using up our forests.
trees grow back sure, but we dont plant enough to keep up with future use.
so current forests wil be cut down, as well as the replanted ones when they are of size.
All the negativity here comes from unhealthy fat alcoholics. Thank god I am so healthy. I can watch all the Republican earth-rapists get strokes and walk around drooling until they finally have another.
first off mr. or ms.elchicoyes et me tell you that you must not know yr U.S. history at all! here it goes
ok so they were told to leave or else they would get peppered sprayed
but did black civil right activists simply walked away from a Sit Ins protest when they were told too? NO did they after they were burned w/ lit cigars or BEAT! NO!
and did GEN. WASHINGTON CARE when England said they couldn't become INDEPENDENT because it was AGAINST THEIR LAW!!!
first off mr. or ms.elchicoyes et me tell you that you must not know yr U.S. history at all! here it goes

Ooook...ummm...no..."first off" this isn't a vid of a U.S. History lesson this is a vid that supposedly shows "police brutality." And no. Activists should not just walk away from what they believe in, but should respect others rights as well. Their is a way of doing things than trampling others rights to get your word across. If you're gonna do something like what these people did, than prepare yourself for the consequences and don't cry about it later.
Its tru that they should expect some of those treatments when you want some sort of dramatic change. and hopefully they didnt punk out cause of it. & yes i would be annoyed if a bunch of hippies sat down of my workplace & started singing.but i dont believe still the receptionist felt threaten to point to have them peppered sprayed, the cops could of had a better way.tie them by their hands & legs & drag them out on a mat, it would be better & a lot funnier, 4 the most part yr rite about respect
Agreed, but the officers were civil and gave them a choice to leave or else. They were told what that "or else" would be. They had the opportunity and they decided to take the hard way out. Dragging people out is no less a peaceful solution because you are still forcing them out. You're right the receptionist might not have felt threatened but that wasn't why the officers were there. They were there because people were trespassing and refusing to leave.
Cont to beautiful Spring. I totally agree that big busienss is totally wiping out the forests and it has totally effected the environment and weather and everything else. It is very serious and things have to change. Knowledge is the way to win dearest Spring. Not batteling the police. Al Gore has it going on and movies like The Day After Tomorrow are helping get the word out. And organizations. And media campaigns. Email for more ways to help. You are so cute Spring.
Sprin, you are totally cute. WOW. Anyway, this was very powerful. I know any interpersonal actions like that is very traumatic, but please Spring know that in today's world espeically post 9/11, that if officers give an order, and somebody is on thier offices as well, they can do anything to remove what ever the issue is whether we agree to it or not. The truth is is that they could have done much worse, and in a lot of cases they would have. I totally agree that big business is ruining...
These protesters are wonderful people. Thank God there are people like this. It is a shame the police had to be so brutal. It also a shame that there are so many negative comments about the protesters.
yes it was shameful what those cops did but they could of found a smarter ay about sending teir message across don't u agree? I mean they were saying it was routine, but that routine didn't seem to get things done. I mean C'mon they in a room filled w/ ppl that didn't give a damn. who would even notice if it wasnt 4 this video post.
This video made me cry! Thank you for posting this video to show that the police force do indeed use violent tactics on non-violent citizens. I fucking hate pigs! Thank you for helping show people how they work. Poor girls! I wish I could have been there with them. I would have helped to be strong and at least let them know that Johnsons Baby Shampoo works best to get that awful shit out. Much lve to you guys and keep up the fight! Your Ukiah Friend
what im saying is the police [force] abused their power. im sure these cops didn't want to mace them, and they are there to protect and serve. but they don't write "the book". proceedure is passed down to them and they do their jobs. either way, they (protesters) could have been carried out without harm. any physical resistance should then be countered with mace. but the cops went sraight to violence.
but how hard would it have been to step over them if you worked there? just let them sit and starve and give no attention, dont wear a skirt, dont let more hippies give them food, impound that van, put soap and water on them, play top 40 music, aim strobe lights at them, call their parents and put them on speakerphone. they could have been just as nonviolent back. how much would a half dozen hippies at the entrance of your job hinder your work?
by the book? so if its written that they should be beheaded on the spot, it would be ok because th police force had premandated (might not be a word, but you get it) it was the proper responce? the book is wrong. thats all there is to it. have you ever voted on police procedure? you can't. those that already have the power make those rules. what can you do when the rest of the nation doesnt care unless its in their own suburb?
you are wrong. this "little stunt" got my attention. now i know. now you know. do you think the media finds buisness as usual for a logging company worth reporting at all? why when they are the ones who sell printed paper right back to you? how would you go about change? and bringing awareness to something you could see but others had not? drastic measure within tolerance of others saftey, that is hard to argue. any further exteme and the support you get is'nt the support you want.
police of the united states share the same ideals as the higher office: justification of all their actions; never admitting to being wrong; using nationalism as a cover to commit crimes. I say "NO MORE". they are doing more damage than good. I know that I look and act apart from them, but thats me. I see the look in their eyes. the look of hatred. it makes me feel like the hunted. thats why I try my best to destroy them and what they stand for.
So....where do they think that they are getting the electricity to run their computers to post their blogs? Coal. Coal is one of this countries main methods of producing electricity and every second that they use their computer, they make more of a demand for coal-fired power. Better invent a way to make your computer out of old fingernail clippings and it better run on hopes and hippie dreams. What's your house made out of? Wood? From Pacific Lumber Company? Know your info first. idiot.
hey you say "The tortured victims sued in federal court and won; officers are no longer allowed to use pepper spray as a torture device on non-violent activists. " but When did this happen,in another video on youtube I see george bush and the crew pepper spray babies at a oregon protest that was non-violent the video is can "bush protest in portland 2002"
The cause has nothing to do with it. The conduct of the officers on duty was completely inappropriate and they should all have been put on trial. I know you are passionate about the cause of saving the forests, but with all due and complete respect, the disturbing thing here is how they dealt with the peaceful protest. They should've just carried them out of the building one by one.
even youtube is making these comments shorter and shorter. pretty soon it wil be a sentence or two.
the internet will definitely be censored soon unless we grab our balls and start protesting all of this atrocity. we are on the verge of another nazi-style takeover, only it will be the US.
connect the dots, don't ignore what is right in front of you.
no, not all police are bad. but many become bad once they join because they are slowly indoctrinated into the system....a system that is escalating in its brutality.....as the ELITE are escalating their raping of the earth and our bank accounts.
do u not see that our governemnt is no longer our friend. all of these tasings and police brutality are to get us used to it. basic brainwashing.
by the time little kids grown up, they will be used to cameras everywhere, and to fear everything
what do you consider torture? this is obviously torture. anything used to inflict immense pain on non-violent people is torture in my eyes. we should NEVER accept this from police who are to "protect and serve". we are not to be the victims......especially when we stand up for nature.
what is more important than our earth? money, industry, government? that is all used against us in search of profit and power. reinvested to make us think something like this is OK.
They can’t do this anywhere in the country.'”

people need 2 wake the fuck up & stop breeding (@ least the dumb ones)! we are what we eat & who wants 2 be poison? it seems most of us do or are ignorant 2 this fact and /or don't know how 2 break the cycle. all it takes is a little thought, effort & the will to be truly better. its a violent world & violence begets violence. unfortunately its the only thing some understand. embrace the creative/nurturing side of our nature(s) & be selfish by protecting our planet which we ultimately are.

Seeing people suffer for what they believe in, so much truth in that alone.

these people are so dumb, theyre tresspassing, breaking the law, not complying, so they call it brutality. the cops do not want to hurt them.
350z350zify 1 year ago
@350z350zify
Thelaofkazi 1 year ago
@350z350zify

I'm pretty left of center and I think protestors like that make the rest of us look bad.

Also almost everyone in that vid was a yuppie douches who got what they deserved. Fuck em from a real blue colllar guy
majordbag2 6 months ago
@majordbag2
Marbles471 2 months ago
@Marbles471 There's nothing wrong with non-violent direct action as long as the participants accept that the police will to force to try to stop them and that will often cause massive pain. People who aren't ready to endure this pain have no business conducting these kind of protests. Ghandi himself said his tactics took more courage than violence and nothing sickens me more than spoiled children like that pretending they're Ghandi and then crying foul when they get 10% of the pain he endured.
majordbag2 1 month ago
@majordbag2 well douchebag this blue-collar construction worker sez you're an asshole for even suggesting that it's OK to do this to people...my guess is you're unemployed and on welfare cuz you're a major douchebag amirite? btw...go fuck yourself
oneirishpoet 2 months ago
@oneirishpoet I think it's perfectly OK for the police to use pain to coerce people who have trespassed, chained themselves to make norma removal impossible, and refused repeated lawful orders to leave. As I said below, if you're not willing to endure the consequences of direct action, which may include extreme pain, you have no business participating in it.
On a side note, I've been employed since September, not relevant but you did bring it up.
majordbag2 1 month ago
If you live here, you know that since then they have done much worse. The cops here are nothing more than a highly organized gang with the law behind them. What they are doing here is punishing without a trial. This is torture, no matter how you look at it.

Using force to overcome resistance, and to effect an arrest. You were breaking two (2) obvious laws: Trespassing and unlawful assembly, they told you what they were going to do, gave you five minutes, then did it. Heck they even applied the mace gently with q-tips. suck it up
GeneralUser1926 1 year ago
@GeneralUser1926 It doesn't matter, they was no need to use the pepper spray. What part of that do you not understand? If they were fighting the cops that would be different, but they weren't. They were subject to arrest, not torture.
silverbackman 1 year ago
@silverbackman
right, and they were resisting arrest, so the police acted accordingly. THEY could have avoided this, but chose to be pepper applied..haha
GeneralUser1926 1 year ago
@GeneralUser1926 No, perhaps you should learn how to read. They weren't resisting arrest. Resisting arrest would be pushing or fighting cops away as they move to arrest them. Try again.
silverbackman 1 year ago
@silverbackman
they were resisting arrest, and delaying the officers duties, and by the way officers can use force to overcome resistance, which they were doing by holding on to eachother. two up, lets see what els you got...
GeneralUser1926 1 year ago

My 2 cents.
rrevved 1 year ago
@rrevved There was no need to use the spray though. They weren't resisting arrest or being violent. They were just sitting there. Your argument fails on so many levels. If they started fighting the cops then that would be different, but they were just sitting there. All the cops needed to do is handcuff them and take them out. This is an example of excessive force.
silverbackman 1 year ago
stupid hippees should of just moved, how about i get all my freinds to go and sit in there house and refuse to move. lol what did they think would happen................
123DRTHC 1 year ago
@123DRTHC The cops do not have the right to torture people like that. Think about it, they are non-violent protesters, they maybe trespassing but all the cops needed to do is arrest them. Pepper spray is only used when they become violent or resisted arrest, which non of the protesters did. So this is an example of police brutality, whether you like it or not.
silverbackman 1 year ago
@silverbackman yes they are resisting they are not moving when the police directly order them to and they curl up in a ball on the floor. that is resisting arrest. NICE ONE POLICE.

divad838 1 year ago
@divad838 I totally agree with you. But this isn't torture, nor are the actions of the cops legally or morally wrong. How are they acting beyond the law?
BlueJames19 1 year ago
@BlueJames19 Yes it is. They are using pepper spray when it isn't necessary, to intimidate non-violent protesters. The protesters were not being hostile or violent, all the cops needed to do is arrest them but instead they wanted to flex their egos. They are scum, whether you want to admit it or not. They abused their power by using excessive force.
silverbackman 1 year ago
@silverbackman So it would be ok for me to come and protest inside your house? Send me you address and we'll set it up right away.
Idiot, you can't fucking trespass on someone else's property. Blame the police now, but you'd be inviting them into your house if I brough a bunch of my d-bag friends in there and wouldn't leave. Fucking retard.
BlueJames19 1 year ago
@BlueJames19 Have you ever heard of something called civil disobedience? If someone came to my house to protest, I would call the police, but I would not want the police to use anything more than what is needed to remove them from my place. If they are just sitting their I want the police to handcuff then and take them out, not use excessive force and brutalize them.
Trespassing on someone's property is against the law, but so is excessive force by the police. So go fuck yourself moron.
silverbackman 1 year ago
@silverbackman You can't pick and choose the methods the police use to enforce the law. You're not an expert on law enforcement and thus your opinion of what is or is not "excessive force" is worthless. The fact that you were so offended by what the officers in this video did shows how weak and thin skinned you are. Go back to Berkley and continue to suck obama's cock, leave your opinions there because no one wants to hear them.
BlueJames19 1 year ago
@BlueJames19 Suck Obama's cock? So now your trying to make assumptions on my politics because I am against police brutality? Ok I'll make an assumption on you, you are probably a racist sexist neo-conservative piece of shit. Go back to your hillbilly mountain shaq and fuck your brother and sister, you inbred piece of shit. BTW I'm libertarian, moron. Expert on law enforcement? No no, you are the expert on fascism move to Iran if you want this type of police treatment. I was just speaking my mind
silverbackman 1 year ago
@silverbackman Well I'm a Libertarian too, dick. But it's BS to think that a private business or citizen can't call the police to remove trespassers. I agree, we do live in a police state but just because some queer hippies got their feelings butt hurt from a little pepper spray doesn't qualify this as brutality. Brutality is a savage beating that wasn't warranted or abuse of power. Don't confuse Libertarianism with Anarcho-Capitalism.
BlueJames19 1 year ago
@BlueJames19 I'm not anarcho-capitalist, and trust me you are definitely no libertarian. You are an Ayn Rand minarchist. You defend corporations like any other stupid neo-conservative redneck..oh and corporations are repressed minority eh? This is a sign of police brutality you moron, what else is it? You honestly don't understand the concept of civil disobedience. When a citizen does not act out in violent way, police are not supposed to resort to pepper spray. That's why they got sued and lost
silverbackman 1 year ago
You so called brand of "libertarianism" is tyranny of the corporations, so shut the fuck up.
silverbackman 1 year ago
@silverbackman Those are the words of an anarcho-capitalist to a T. Libertarians believe in the FREE MARKET with limited and common sense regulation from the government. What you're advocating is getting rid of all rules, police, having open borders and a big kumbaya love fest on top of it. Stop calling yourself a Libertarian, you make the party look bad and we have enough nuts as it is. Go back to rioting in Toronto and thinking 9/11 was caused by Bush.
BlueJames19 1 year ago
@BlueJames19 This comment shows how idiotic you are, my words are that of an anarcho-capitalist? Are you that fucking retarded to not see that your words are far closer to anarcho-capitalism than I am? And for the record, look up the definition of "libertarianism" moron....I am no libertarian party libertarian, and besides civil liberties, the libertarian party is nothing like the real libertarianism, which btw fought for EQUALITY as a necessary condition for LIBERTY. You fail.
silverbackman 1 year ago
cont. bluejames19 Real classical libertarianism is a system of political philosophies that aspire to create a society that is non-hierarchical, without coercive control from an authoritarian state or the products of an authoritarian state, such as big business and other forms of coercive hierarchies. It is not, for your fake form of libertarianism that wants to protect the interests of the rich and powerful, and wants to undermine the common man/environment. Your Ayn Rand utopia is fascism, duh.
silverbackman 1 year ago
@silverbackman What you call "classical libertarianism" is now called anarcho-capitalism. Big business is coercive? Oh wow, so we should take it down a few notches because it's evil that some have and others don't. Yeah lets get rid of those evil people who want to make money and we'll all hold hands and fuck afterwords. Your wit must be sorely missed on the Harvard debate team. You're a fool, stop making the rest of us look bad and pick another term to label yourself with: anarchist
BlueJames19 1 year ago
@BlueJames19 Wow it's amazing how fucking stupid you can be. Anarcho-capitalism? Is that the only thing you've heard? Your stupidity is amazing. Classical libertarianism is not some random modern day philosophy like anarcho-capitalism you moron. Classical libertarianism is libertarian socialism, you uneducated fool. You like to defend big business owners why don't you defend feudal lords too? Your backward ayn rand fucktarded form of "libertarianism leads to feudalism. Your argument got owned.
silverbackman 1 year ago
@silverbackman You're the kind of crazy libtard anarchist that makes most people roll their eyes whenever they hear the term "Libertarianism". You and your kind are the reason why no one takes us seriously. You want to criminalize success and the rule of law, you're no better than obama himself. I've got an experiment in mind: I come to your house, take a big fat shit on your best carpet and then refuse to leave. Will you call the cops? No no, because that wouldn't jive with Earth Mother.
BlueJames19 1 year ago
@BlueJames19 Shut up with your uneducated babble. Learn the original definition of libertarianism and then talk.
And btw, you are the type of idiot that gives libertarianism a bad name, you make it sound like some kind of neo-conservative ayn random corporation worshipping system of absolute tyranny of the worst kind, of private tyranny. Go fuck yourself if you think 10% of the world should have 90% of everything. You are not for freedom, you are for fascism of the rich.

norcallogger 1 year ago
@norcallogger Just because you break the law doesn't mean cops have the right to use excessive force, as is the case in this video. All the cops needed to do is arrest them. They were not resisting. It doesn't matter if they didn't get the full spray, that would have made the cops even worse. Think about it. There was no need for the pepper tips.
silverbackman 1 year ago
Before this happened it was routine to use a cutter to remove the black boxes- no chemicals were used. It was considered safe to cut the boxes off. Things were escalated here for the first time. Plus the girl was only 16 years old. And pepper spray is supposed to be sprayed from 3 feet not applied to the eyes, or directly to someones eyeball. That's why they won in court.

The sadest part is those who support these tactics never learned the heart of freedom is to question and protest just like this!
prairiefires 2 years ago
Pretty sure tresspassing is illigal. Pepper spray is much more humane that trying to move people chained together. HSO was more than polite. They didn't yell, they didn't curse, they informed them of which laws they were breaking and gave them plenty of time to leave the area. They have every right to protest, but there are still laws that protect private property... right? They could have done it outside and that would have been legal.

Your Ukiah Friend

what im saying is the police [force] abused their power. im sure these cops didn't want to mace them, and they are there to protect and serve. but they don't write "the book". proceedure is passed down to them and they do their jobs. either way, they (protesters) could have been carried out without harm. any physical resistance should then be countered with mace. but the cops went sraight to violence.
lobstermitchell 3 years ago
but how hard would it have been to step over them if you worked there? just let them sit and starve and give no attention, dont wear a skirt, dont let more hippies give them food, impound that van, put soap and water on them, play top 40 music, aim strobe lights at them, call their parents and put them on speakerphone. they could have been just as nonviolent back. how much would a half dozen hippies at the entrance of your job hinder your work?
lobstermitchell 3 years ago
by the book? so if its written that they should be beheaded on the spot, it would be ok because th police force had premandated (might not be a word, but you get it) it was the proper responce? the book is wrong. thats all there is to it. have you ever voted on police procedure? you can't. those that already have the power make those rules. what can you do when the rest of the nation doesnt care unless its in their own suburb?

you are wrong. this "little stunt" got my attention. now i know. now you know. do you think the media finds buisness as usual for a logging company worth reporting at all? why when they are the ones who sell printed paper right back to you? how would you go about change? and bringing awareness to something you could see but others had not? drastic measure within tolerance of others saftey, that is hard to argue. any further exteme and the support you get is'nt the support you want.

police of the united states share the same ideals as the higher office: justification of all their actions; never admitting to being wrong; using nationalism as a cover to commit crimes.

Know your info first. idiot.

Torture sucks, especialy on good people trying to save the forest!
haikucuple 3 years ago
The cause has nothing to do with it. The conduct of the officers on duty was completely inappropriate and they should all have been put on trial. I know you are passionate about the cause of saving the forests, but with all due and complete respect, the disturbing thing here is how they dealt with the peaceful protest. They should've just carried them out of the building one by one.

even youtube is making these comments shorter and shorter. pretty soon it wil be a sentence or two.
the internet will definitely be censored soon unless we grab our balls and start protesting all of this atrocity. we are on the verge of another nazi-style takeover, only it will be the US.
connect the dots, don't ignore what is right in front of you.

no, not all police are bad. but many become bad once they join because they are slowly indoctrinated into the system....a system that is escalating in its brutality.....as the ELITE are escalating their raping of the earth and our bank accounts.
do u not see that our governemnt is no longer our friend. all of these tasings and police brutality are to get us used to it. basic brainwashing.
by the time little kids grown up, they will be used to cameras everywhere, and to fear everything
burningbushmen 3 years ago
what do you consider torture? this is obviously torture. anything used to inflict immense pain on non-violent people is torture in my eyes. we should NEVER accept this from police who are to "protect and serve". we are not to be the victims......especially when we stand up for nature.
what is more important than our earth? money, industry, government? that is all used against us in search of profit and power. reinvested to make us think something like this is OK.
WE HAVE THE POWER!!
