@dakotaslade93 There was a definite increase in throttle response with this down pipe as well as a little increase in power. If you combine it with a cat delete or high flow cat, you should see even better results.
@coldcash12345 I may be doing some exhaust work in the near future so If i remember, I may make the video of taking it off. Although it's fairly straight forward as long as you can break the bolts loose...which is definitely the hardest part.
@StrifeRift I actually bought the downpipe lol! I am soon getting the race pipe too but the bolts came off easy for me after soaking them with PB blaster. That stuff is great but it was a tight fit up into the car especially doing it from my garage floor when I had a rack availabe at my dads shop. Stupid mistake! But thanks for responding, I appreciate it.
@coldcash12345 Good 'ol PB blaster. That's what I typically tell people to soak bolts in if they're not budging. Glad to hear you got yours off without drilling/cutting some of the bolts out.
if you have a 96 and it's not the VR4, then you should have the same engine. Does yours sound like my "before"? Mine may be a little louder due to the exhaust leak, which is why I replaced my downpipe anyway.
Damn Mitsu was revealing the fate of the 3000GT already by then. Thanks to price-gouging, dickless insurance companies, they forced the death of sports cars. It'd be a WHOLE different story had they not been given a blank check from our lovely ELECTED (yea right) officials.
Sounds great! I will be doing this to my car as well. Although I cant decide whats going to go on the other end... :D I'm trying to get as close to the '60's -'70's muscle car V8 sound as I possibly can.
how does the down pipe work or like who is it installed. do u remove anything of the old mufflers sorry dont know much. i have a stock exhaust on mine.
Wow, sorry i never replied to you...but in case you are still wondering or to anyone else out there...
The only thing you have to remove is the old downpipe. The 3sx one fits perfectly, you dont have to remove your mufflers or cat or any other piping. You can get a local muffler shop to do the work for you, or do it yourself.
You can read my reply to samkobe8 for a bit more info, but you don't have to remove anything except the old downpipe. There's 2 bolts on each exhaust flange, and 2 bolts on the cat and that's all you need to remove. So..you just take the bolts off, remove the old downpipe and put up the new one. The 3SX one, u can either weld the middle section together or just bolt it together with the supplied tool.
I would say yes, I've heard some very nice/mean sounding 3/s's with a 40 series, but can't speak from experience. Its gonna be loud though. I've heard some people say to keep a resonator, but that's up to you.
Also the stock cat-back as well? I have a SOHC car and I have been looking into getting some small upgrades for it. The 3SX D/P definitely looks like a quality piece, did you have any problems with fitment or anything?
@striferift could u tell any difrence with the down pipe on ur car? im thinking a n/a build would be a cool mix up

Hey bro, mine is stock and sounds NOTHING like that. How do you make it sound like that?
HHViRuS 2 years ago
Only thing I have done to mine is the 3sx downpipe and open air filter. That and it's the 3.0L DOHC engine.
StrifeRift 2 years ago
Mine is a 96 so I think I got diff engine? Is that why mine sounds really quite? or I just need to get downpipe n open air filter?
HHViRuS 2 years ago

Yeah its little quiter idk why. I'm thinkin bout getting new catback exhaust to make it louder?

Is this the base engine?
user0118 2 years ago
Yes, the base engine in a 1995 3kGT. I believe in 1997 they had the base model with a SOHC engine instead of the higher powered DOHC.
StrifeRift 2 years ago
as in base engine you mean sohc? because base engine all the way up to 96 was dohc... then it was sohc, dohc, dohctt

The 3sx dowpipe was great on mine! Nice sound, the extra power was noticeable. Good workmanship too.

lol in the first part when it was all stock sounds just like mine down to the little rattle and btw do know what causes that?
Kenny9596 2 years ago
ha, I really have no idea exactly what caused that little rattle.
StrifeRift 2 years ago
must be heat shields or something

I have a question, do you need to weld anything when swithing the dp?
craigdatiga 4 years ago
No, everything is direct bolt un. 3SX specializes in 3000GT's, everything they make is direct bolt on.

Made it a little deeper. Sounds better than stock plus a couple extra horses never hurt. Are these the long tube or just the down pipe?
Aqualoo3 4 years ago 2
Just the downpipe from 3SX. Stock manifolds are still there.
StrifeRift 4 years ago
Also the stock cat-back as well? I have a SOHC car and I have been looking into getting some small upgrades for it. The 3SX D/P definitely looks like a quality piece, did you have any problems with fitment or anything?
BrettInSeries 4 years ago
No problems with fitment, but the old bolts can be a pain. Mine had a lot of rust caked on them.
