here's a little spanner in the works :)

The Voltage comming out of the USB port on your pc is 5.0V and the psp charger provides 3.6V (If I were you I wouldn't charge for too long)

Wrong, look at the bottom of your (of a pic) psp, it says Input 5 volt, my original charger of the PSP is also 5 volts.. only the battery provides 3.6 volts.

Same with my RC boat, Battery is 4.8volts, Charger 6 volts.

You do realize that the Fat style PSPs did not have the option for USB charging.

You have to mod the PSP in order to do so.

@TheAaron1924 Wrong. The first model PSP which is considered the phat did not have the capabilities to charge through the USB port on the top because physically, it could not.

You need to check your model, you likely have a PSP-2000. Slightly smaller than the PSP-1000 but not as small as the PSP-3000.

@26youb This is a hardware mod, not a software mod. No amount of firmware modding will enable charging through USB. The hardware itself has to be engineered for it. The original PSPs didn't unless you disassembled and wired it to charge through the USB port.

Google psp usb carging mod and you'll find some tuts on it, its really not that hard to do. And the usb on the side is for a modchip hardwired in the psp, has nothing to do with this mod.

that side USB is for programming the Undulited Platinum modchip. That is a modchip used by professionals in the past, for unbricking their PSP's if damaged when testing. Now this Modchip is only for having dual CFW or CFW+ original firmware at the same time. It's olny compatible with the first version of the PSP.
