This is possibly the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. Is that a little RC car motor making the squiggly sounds? Genius! And aside from the mechanical/electronical engineering wizardry here, this musical composition is about as beautiful as humanly possible.
you've probably gotten the answer somewhere, but anyway, CV mean control voltage...it can be more or less "any" voltage source, well it has some limits (0-5V it think but don't take my word ofr it), the simples being a voltage divider made with a potentiometer
Bastien's tracks are clockwork, electricity and electronics are not involved. plus he's playing the trumpet and has a life of musical experience so watch what you say cleverdick
So its not exactly the same, but much of the same concepts are still there. I said influenced, which means taking ones idea and expanding upon in ur own way. not copying exactly. Please go around youtube some more correcting people some more.
Sounds like galloping typewriters! Interesting... now I want to hear it play some George Hamilton Green... perhaps "Triplets"? c'mon, you can do it! OK then at least "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies"! Great drum part, though! Perhaps it can be a TECHNO remix of "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies"???
That is absolutely incredible. I'm blown away by the amount of care and patience that has been put into this project. To say well done seems massively patronising!
How did you manage the timing issues with all those actuators having to be in sync?
Awesome this must have taken alot of time.

Is Felix the composer too?
Has to be the first tech guy to actually be musically talented.

CV is the old way synths talked to each other before MIDI came along...

Influenced by Rephlex's Pierre Bastien? Although I would say this blows his shit out of the water. Pretty amazing.

what about the machine... did you use Arduino to make the machine?
delta9crew 4 years ago
I've used a MIDI to Parallel Converter - the sort usually used for organs. The machine is built mainly from a dismantled piano.
...uploading a much better film soon.
