  • @bad8076 rods were stock but not bent. It were the conrod bearings on 2 cyls that got oil starved :(

  • Awesome clip! I wish I could take my GTI 1.8T up there one day for a lap after I get some work done. I don't wish to go crazy HP as it is FWD, but work on suspension, tires, and cooling (oil,tranny,FMIC). When I win the lotto I guess...LOL.

  • hey i have a 1994 volvo 850 N/A do you know what kind of work i need to do to switch it from N/A to turbo?? Such as do i need to do any work to the engine or the trans i already have a good idea of what i need to do just to the full idea any help would be great thanks

  • You'd need to change engine, ECU and all of the engine wiring. To be honest it would seem easier and cheaper to swap to a turbo 850...they dont cost much anymore. But it can be done and has been done to turn an NA into a turbo :)

  • Awesome car, my 850T5 also did a Conrod bearing at high revs, going around some really fast corners :-( The only good thing, is that my wife was driving when it happened, so now I have an excuse to rebuild it, the way I want it ;-)

  • Everyone is free to go at their own speed, you only encounter the slow ones most of the time. Anyone who is within 30 seconds of your time you are unlikely to meet on the track because it takes maybe 10 seconds between cars going through the gates.

  • It has quite a few modifications to it ;-) 120 HP more than standard, KW suspension, AP brakes and the standard seats have been removed to lose weight

  • Nice car, hope to see her back soon! Just 1 Q if you don't mind - how did you get your motor to drop the revs so quick between gear changes? On every 850 and Motronic 4.4 V70 I've driven the ICV loves to keep the revs hanging between changes making the kinda cog swaps you're demonstrating here impossible. I thought you might've unplugged the ICV but I can't see the O2 light on your dash! :-P

  • It doesn't drop too quick actually, not at all in fact. It's just dropping quick when the clutch comes in after a shift, that pulls it down. After the damage occurred the revs dropped quick though because of internal friction :s

  • JC, i rarely feel envy....but this time, my friend..oh lord. That thing screams like Darth Vader's grocery getter. Soccer Moms better stay away from this neat looking devil. ;-)

    Such a pity it broke.

    But the way it pulls in second gear is just staggering. Out of Karussell for instance.

    Are you sure it didnt lean out befor it broke?..also the kind of revs you had werent that high in 3rd gear at Schwalbenschwanz. So maybe it was rodfailure in the end...Again: what a pity..
