One thing that people have to understand is that the 80's horror movies which alot of them were "B" movies created a certain type of atmosphere and that can't be duplicated. They were for that time and that time only so they're not going to have the same impact or effect today. Plus whenever they do a remake now they change some of the movie and put they're spin on it, and it kinda takes away from it alittle to me. Some of the remakes were ok but it's just not the same. Classics are Classics!

Oh, the reason they don't "make 'em like this anymore" is because every horror movie made since the late 80s is just too caught up in irony and referencing past films. The 70s movies were unique in that they were charting new territory with the lapse of censorship--not aping previous films/ideas.

BTW, there is a Father's Day movie, starring Terry O'Quinn, a good actor(now in the mainstream). Its pretty decent-better than Mothers Day, but different. Of course, they made like 5 lame sequels.

Saw this during it's orig. run in 81-82. Back then, in the wake of Halloween/Fri 13th, every hack with a camera was churning these out. This one does have some interesting aspects:

1. The set up w/the girl's bkgrnd is pretty substantial

2. The house is littered with trash culture references

3. The Mom is totally evil, but even she is scared of the Queenie--an interesting twist

4. The bros. go thru training routines to be better maniacs

5. The bad SFX offer some relief from the grimness
