  • Whenever I took off in St. Vincent I always took off towards the sea which is the approach. If one takes off towards the mountains there is a very strong possibility of the downdraft coming off the mountains could cause the aircraft to lose altitude. I remember one of LIAT's pilots did that takeoff and was fired for doing so. He lost quite a lot of altitude. With the 727 and their powerful P&T engines they can eaisly climb at 2000-3000ft/min

  • those guys have wat i call balls..cuz i wudnt even attempt that..

  • to bad they dont have the landing yea dominica needs an international airport go thing for saint vincent they are building theirs

  • actually....looking at another video i realised that the airstrip is sideways..so now i understand why...@noreik67 u done know...dominica massive..hold strong

  • full of frickin cargo!!!! i was wondering y it takes off from mountains...we have about the same length runway(well now its extended) in dominica and it is situated in the same position..mountain behind sea infront....amerijet lands from the mountain and takes off towards the sea :S however the only aircraft that can land from the sea is LIAT... still :S...maybe the FAA has diff airport policies...

  • cheeeeeeeeeeeese yea Gippo195 lookn nice.

    **Shen**

  • one thing those guys deadly to be landing in Dominica for sure

  • lol i know i'm also from st. vincent and time for lecture :D

most dash 8 pilots (liat and caribbean star) complain about liats short runways a lot and how its dangerous so its about time.

also the only reason why amerijet takes off into the mountains is quite simple...

its a huge jet unlike the rest and the wind from the oceans going over the mountains creates great lift for the plane. its the same thing that applies to st. maarten's princess julianna intl.

  • It's too bad the locals have to deal with that sound all the time.

  • amerijet only comes once a week so we get use to it :P

  • impressive!

  • amazing !

  • i must give those pilots props for their landings and takes offs. trust me when i tell u this,727's are actually very difficult to land. and to to do this on a short runway like this is crazy. great video.

  • and full of cargo baby!

  • great vidéo !!!

  • I saw for the first time this take off in St Vincent a few weeks ago and let me tell you, it is scarry a lot. This airport has very very small runaway, even for turbo prop planes, and is located by a mountain. Whe i hear the noise that ameri jet plane produce i look out and could see the jet was taking off facing the mountains. Watching this take off live is much more explicit and scarry than this video

  • this jet takes off in a different direction than the turbo prop planes because the jet blast damages houses. One time i was in this mountaineous area in St,vincent, and i saw this plane coming up through the mountains just after take off, trust me, those pilots are good. After it cleared the mountain, it just pointed its nose upward and it was gone!!

  • good ol e.t. joshua airport lol. Smallest airport on the planet I reckon... not to mention the mountains all around... makes for a dangerous take off/landing site.

  • This is like a soft field take off. Almost had a tail strike.

  • omg brought back enough memories..

  • Long time i aint seen that.

  • does that video take place at ET Joshua airport

  • yes

  • Amerijet boyz madd!!

  • Amerijet boyz madd!!

  • one loud fucking jet...but i marvel at its power

  • What was the date of this takeoff?

  • sometime not long before August 24th 2004
