  • I adored the host and I can't actually believe I'm saying this but... I thought it was better than twilight. (Sorry any Twilight fans) I loved twilight but the host just felt more real for me. the characters had more depth and you could relate to them. it actually made me see the human race very differently. Anyway, loved it and hope that there will be more to come from Melanie and Wanda.

  • I loved the host Stepheny Mayer you're a awesome wrighter and i love all you're books

  • I'm currently reading the host and i really like it :)

  • She is just amazing! i just finished this book last night...and now i feel really sad..because its over. that only happens if its a REALLY good book, and The Host is abselutely brilliant. Stephenie, I admire you!!! how do u come up with such brilliant storoes!? P.S i liked it more than the Twilight sagas(but i loved them too :D)

  • please keep on writing till pages turn yellow

  • Twilight was gay the host was astonishing

  • is it for sur though that shes writting sequels. i have seen alot of "might be writting a sequel" but not many "for sures"?

    I sure hope she does

cant wait for march 2013 when The host becomes a movie!!!! yay with Jake Abel as Ian!!!

  • "For me I think The Host is my best written work, and also the most important story that I've told so far."

    I couldn't agree more.

  • the host is gonna be a 3 part movie! yay!

  • @meyo33192 Where did you read that?

  • @psych780 an article, i guess i word it wrong, SM is making 2 more books, so it'll be 3 movies, it'll be The Host, The Seeker and The Soul and the director said “It’s a liberating feeling that I’ll be directing something I haven’t had to make up. It’ll be fun. But I have to say, Stephanie gave me her 650-page book to adapt. That’s a workout to start with but I’ve managed to get it down to a script and there are two more movies coming after the initial movie"

  • i heard about this book but wasn't sure reading it...

  • vampire...now aliens? did she had another dream or what....

  • You know what is a really good paranormal thriller, Of Good and Evil by Gerald G. Griffin. Just thought I would let paranormal thriller readers know that, check it out sometime!

  • I really wonder if stephenie meyer ever had a guy in her life because guys in her books are so perfect, guys like santa or jesus only problem is they don't exist.

  • I hate that dumb cunt.

    She's no J.K. Rowling.

  • @alessandrosgirl

    Why do you hate her?

I hated the Twilight series, but The Host was absolutely amazing!

If you don't like it, it's probably better to just leave it alone rather than just try to annoy people on purpose.

  • i loved the host.. i hope their is a sequal (:

  • It is a lot better than Twilight. Except, the introduction was fucking boring

  • if ian wasnt supposed to be a big character then how would the story have ended??? i guess the same kinda but without wanderer having someone to love and someone who loves her back

  • this sequel is yet to come out, wth is she waiting for more money

  • the host is good but could be better

  • @bellaandedward4ever1

At least it was better than Twilight :)

  • The Host is very interesting book, I love it. :D I hate sweet happy ends, but I forgive. ;-) and... I wish I can read The Soul soon.

  • I just fineshed The Host OMG it is so AWESOME Í so wanted to read more :D

and about the teams It was so hard for me to decide but now I'm pozitive I'm TEAM IAN <3

  • @hotserbiangirl

GAAAAH!!! I hate this whole "team" stuff. It's so annoying! People are starting to do the same thing with The Hunger Games, god forbid.

  • I love Twilight. But The Host is better than Twilight. Great job, Steph.

  • the host is the best book ever i cant wait for the movie..TEAM IAN!

  • No Edward? what do u want him when you have IAN!! loved this book!

  • MAKE A MOVIE!!!! I loooove the book. It's way better than the Twilight saga, though I also love those books... But The Host is so riveting. It's really difficult to put it away, when you first get started. I truly hope that somebody will make a movie out of it!!

  • the host is amazing! <3 i love twilight and i cant put the host down!

  • i bet shes talking about the um ugh wanda's boyfriend when shes talking about the side character that evolved

  • i luv the twilight saga but i luv the host way better cuz its just different then anything iv read i cant wait for it to become a movie

  • I despise Twilight. But I absolutely adore The Hos

  • Stephenie is such a nice lady. The Host is a brilliant book and I did read that she is or has written two more for the series called The Soul and The Seeker.

  • @macpean I didn´t hear about the soul and the seeker yet. I loved The Host I wish I couldhave more of the series.

  • I love the Host the most.<3

  • they should definitely make this into a movie its a great story!!!

  • GOD, I love that woman! :)

  • The Host is a rip off of invasion of the body snatchers but in the POV of the bodysnatchers

  • @devilshomie Yes!! thank you. And there has already been another rip-off as well, the movie the invasion!!! Why all of a sudden is it ok to take ideas and pretend they are your own? At least "The Invasion" called itself invasion and didn't pretend to be original.

  • "He changed who he was in response to the story".

...Ian? Ahh, I adore Ian. I'm glad that she says she likes him.

  • Ian is one of a kind, he represents the human soul in all aspects

  • 1:23 one word: Ian :D

  • the host is THE best book ever writen!! Ive read it so many times and i cannot get it off my mind!! its got to be a movie soon, it would be massive!! <3

  • I agree. It is one of her best books!

My favourite character is Ian -3 aha!

    Oh and Jeb lol!

I really hope they make this movie as good as the book! x

  • i LOVED the host:D i just hope if they make a movie that they don't mess it up:P

  • i LOVED the host:D i just hope if they make a movie that they don't mess it up:P

  • great book

  • twilight sucked...the host, however, was amazing.

  • i read the host five times and im still not board with it.I would never toss it off a balcony.

  • i love stephenie's books. she knows romance, comedy, n action. my favorite prt in the host was when jared and Ian were trying to take wanda/melanie back to her room and they were like oh i can take her, why don't u just run along and get yourself somethin to eat. that prt made me smile. even when she described the desert i needed 2 get some water cuz i felt like i was there! when i go in arizona ( which i do alot) i wish 2 meet stephenie meyer. she inspired me 2 write stories. i want 2 meet her

  • @Cutziepie4ev for real??? goosshh can't wait!!! XDD

  • The host is the best stephanie meyer book in my opinion :]

Im on page 400 at the moment :]

  • "There's a chance they're gonna open the book up, start flipping through the pages and say 'there's no Edward here,' and then they'll toss it off a balcony."

I read The Host *because* there was no Edward!

  • Loved the host!! It was so good- i read it in like a day lol ;P

  • Like Stephenie Meyer's The Host? You'll love REVERB-- a must read about a master musician who learns to love someone other than himself. Read it on reverbnovel or jcafesin dotcom...

  • Stephenie Meyer is awesome! The Host was better than Twilight. But I love both of them!

  • #OMG

  • There's no Edward here. Toss of balcony! hahahaha noooo! I admit i did not like it at first but i am ashamed because it is sooooo mazing!!

  • I hope she will make a sequel...

  • This book was amazing! I love it! I also thought and believe it is Ian who she is talking about evolving throughout the novel. Although I hated him in the beginning I started to like him more. Personally I wish Jared and Wanda end up together. She really needs to write a sequel cause it just has to be done! I really love this book, probably netter than I love Twilight and that's saying something lol. Come up with a sequel Stephanie! Please!?

  • "Theres no Edward here! and tos it out the window."

Well, she do know here fans ^^

  • I still find it hard to believe that she calls the Host "science fiction for people who don't like science fiction." The Host was an interesting aspect of soft, sociological science fiction.

I liked it better than Twilight.

  • anyone else think she was talking about ian being the one who evolved lol

    i do loves him

  • i hope she makes a sequal

  • i loved this book sooo much! i like how creative stephenie is to be able to tell a story and still have the imagination to go in further depth of the other planets wanda has been to, i thought it was pretty neat. i liked how different wanda and melenie are from each other but the same in some ways as well. I also enjoyed how she was able to portray the different characters in this novel. for example her uncle, Ian, her littler brother, ian's crazy brother lol.

  • amazing book!

  • this was my favorite book, 1000 times better than twilight. its not popular with twihards because there are no perfect beings but people who hated twilight like me really seem to love this book. maybe because the characters have a good balance of positive qualities and flaws and relationships between each other. or maybe it's just because mel didn't fall apart when she was seperated from jared, or the other bad stuff. i guess twihards just arent interested in the whole "equality" thing.

  • I can't believe how someone could wrote the book. Because it's so.. so.. no, i can find words for that. It's just so sad, and beautifull. Thanks, for this book, i love it. It's so much better the everything, better book doesn't exist, and i read Wuthering hills, and a lot of books from John Steibeck, or book from Kathleen Winsor, but nothing is better. The Host is simply the best. Because there is so much emotion and so much joy, sadness, despair, relief and love. Everything is in the book.

  • hahahah that was hilarious there is no edward in this book *toss it at the balcony* i wouldnt do that i would give it a chance anyways i already read it it was amazing i love this book i hope she makes the series of the host love ian and wanderer<3

  • i loved the book sooooo much better than the twilight saga!!!!!!

  • damn i want an ian

  • i loved this book. its so much better than the twilight books, even though i enjoyed them as well

  • @ssrnan1000 To number 2 - Three dimensional means realistic characters that you can really relate to and actually feel like they could be real people with real personalities.

And to number 3 - So he doesn't have a personality and he's just another sappy lovey dovey cheesy guy?

  • Stephenie stepped up her game in this one.

  • From someone that hated Twilight I have a few questions.

    1. Is it better written than Twilight?

    2. Are the characters actually three-dimensional?

    3. And people are talking about this Ian character, does he at least have a personality and is he more than just the sappy cheesy guy in the story?

    4. Would you recommend it?

  • I just started reading and I can't stop... Amazing... x)

  • Stephenie Meyer is a genius

  • I hate twilight soo soo much but this book was perfect imo

  • When is thıs novel becoming a movıe?????????? Jeeshh .. we've been waiting sooo long, com' on... :/ at least start casting..

I love the host and it has a great story ı would lıke to see ıt on the screen to .. sooonn ı hope

  • terrible author

  • The Host was a whole lot better than Twilight.

  • @Thehost95 terrible author

  • LOVE THE HOST!!

  • Oh stephanie Meyer, please PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE MAKE AT LEAST TWO SEQUELS PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DONT LET IAN DIE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i was reading some book about good novel writing cause im in the process of writing yet another one and whenever i watch Meyer a sentence from the book always comes to mind. "a good writer has control over their characters, not the other way around."

  • @KirabellaAnonymous But characters that have a life of their own turn out to be fascinating and just as amazing as a character that stays within the lines that an author created for them

  • @KirabellaAnonymous

    Here here.

  • I'm a really twilight saga fan <3 But I have to admit that The Host is perfectly better (L)

  • i absolutely love the host and twilight saga so... she doesn't have to worry about me!

  • 28 dislikers dont have a soul lol

  • those 27 people who dont like this dont know anything. I love this book this makes me love stephanie meyer more because she put aside the twilight series and made a book that people will enjoy and the dont have to be twilight fans and they could see what talent stephanie has. I do love the twilight series but Im glad she created a different book based on totally something defferent. Thank you stephanie for being a great inspiration can't wait to see what else she will publish!

  • I don't think that Stephanie Meyers non twilight projects will really be that successful because Twilight was inspired by Satan and that is why it is hugely successful. Any other projects she does wont make much of a dent because it is just her work not Satans.

  • Comment removed

  • @ANOTHERHOLEINYOHEAD you are such an idiot. It makes me feel stupid just to read your post. It's called imagination. Try having an original thought instead of vomiting out something your parents tought you.

  • @ANOTHERHOLEINYOHEAD

Satan is the personefication of the bad side of people, the egoïstic path people take, because it's the easy one.

I don't think Satan is an actual persone.

But on the off he change is, I don't he or her will be interested enough to give some woman insperation for writhing a book.

  • I love this book man, you're an awesome writer. Keep up the good work!

  • i just listened to the audiobook of this book again and DAMN i cant wait for a sequel already.

  • Science-fiction for people who don't like science-fiction?! That sounds a little asinine to me. Why write or read a book in a particular genre if you don't like that genre?

I also don't like the way that she thinks her readers are so stupid that they'd think that all of her books would have Edward in it. Smeyer also seems quite arrogant when she talks about good books; almost as if she thinks her own book is good enough to transcend those barriers. She's believing her own hype. How sad.

  • @Prooface3456 I don't think that's what she meant. A lot of the time, people associate Science Fiction with gadgets and technology and lasers and although that's not all that there is to SciFi, people generalize. She never said she didn't like science fiction, don't be so quick to jump to conclusions. Again, I would step away from the antagonism you seem to feel towards Meyer and view this interview again because I doubt she means to belittle her readers. The Host is actually not a bad read.

  • love the book but i don't get why Jared in the beginning when he meets her acts the way he does :)

  • @PurpleSocks97 If you're talking about his behavior when he meets Wanda/Melanie its because the love of his life is pretty much gone (he believes) and in her place is an alien that is just one of many that has also taken his friends, family and loved ones away.

She took the last love of his life away. I'd think I would react worse.

  • @JessicaCasarez

I totally agree about the acting worse part.

Everyone always says "why do you love Jared? He was so mean to Wanda/Melanie in the beginning." It kinda irritates me because if they were in the same situation they would act violent and angry towards the person who took their love away too! XD

  • I wonder whether they really create a cave like that the book describes:

  • i think this is getting made into a movie right?

  • Screw Edward and Jacob.....I want a guy like Ian! Haha ;D this is the best book EVER!

  • @emmanemmaly omg i love ian like crazy :) Team Ian... and Riley! sorry had to add the last part since i am definately a Riley Biers fan :)

  • OMG =D i want it to be a movie ^^

  • I didn't toss the book out the balcony. I don't even have one. But I absolutely love this book! Stephanie Meyer has to be the best author in the history of mankind!

  • The book was worse then Twilight.

  • Pleasssssse write more of The Host, Stephanie. The book is AMAZING !!!

  • I'm not sure, the concept of a "love triangle" in two bodies seems f-cking laughable to me... Stephen King for the win everybody, there's an author who can capture the reader's attention. Depends on the qualitity of the reader, of course...

  • man, the host is some good stuff. amazing book.

  • i love you stephanie!

  • Just wondering, the readers of Host and Twilight

I am very cynical about Meyer's book because of the Twilight Saga. Should i give the Host a chance?

  • @inferno0020 YES! Soooo much better. :D

  • @inferno0020 YES! give the host a chance, but be patient. the first 120 pages or so are booring but it´s so worth it when you pass that, because after those 120 pages, that´s when the beuti of it comes through.

  • I've been waiting for a new book for 2 years, What the fuck. she needs to focus on writing instead of all the movies, and trying to find new ways to tell the same story of twilight ( i.e. Graphic Novels, Bree Tanner, Midnight Sun, the new "illustrated Guide" or whatever).

  • I LOVE THE HOST, when i was reading it, i totally forgot about twilight :) Sorry about it... ITS a great book, PLEASE right more :D

  • U HAVE TO MAKE A SEQUEL TO THE HOST PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I don't like Twilight, but I like the storyline of the host

  • I just finish the book man...when she wanted to leave and stuff i freaken cried and i hate it when books make me cry but that just shows how good it is.

  • @Animejunky128 I did the exact same thing when I read it!! I didnt want her to go!!

  • i love the host although i will admit i read twilight ect before reading the host and when i started i wanted to throw it off a balcony. But i then had nothing to read one day and so started reading it again and found it was one of the most amazing books i have ever read. :)

  • "Theres no Edward here" lol ooo yes there is... I'm so Team Ian!, and Jamie is the new Seth Clearwater lol such a sweetie.

  • @spoiledbrandy23 haha, yeah, i agree! Ian is perfect :D

  • I really want her to come out with a sequel to the host!!! I NEED it!!!

  • @emmettlover11 Yeah I totally agree...The story needs to go on!!

  • "Theres no Edward in here and toss it off a balcony" Personally, not trying to dis but is how I feel, I never liked Edward. So I was glad to have a break. Anyway toss this amazing thing that is more than a book off a balcony? I'd strangle myself first(it takes a long time to strangle someone especially with bare hands). I love it when Ian and Jared go at it "Its Mel's boday" "Well Wanda needs some sex too" that was what he was thinking don't deny! ahhahaahhaa MAKE A SEQUEL PLEASE!

  • u did a awesome job on this video Breaking Dawn fresh teaser unreleased yet from

    NowPattisonEnding[dot]tk #OMG

    see it now

  • I thought the Host was much better than Twilight. Sure, it was hard to get into at first, but once I was I couldn't stop until it was done. I hope she releases the sequels soon!

  • Host is way better than the Twilight book !!!

  • Will there ever be a Seguel to this amazing Book?

  • the host is the best book ever. love is so much <3

  • she so should write another one. I actually like the host better than the twilight series...:)

  • Will they be making a movie? I've heard rumours that they were, but I don't know for sure.. It'd be super if the were.

  • We need a sequel now. I just finished reading it for the fifth time. Much better than twilight. No competition.

  • I think The Host was better than Twilight, because this book was way more creative than some normal vampire/human romance book. The Host is obviously in my top 15 favorite books list, although I don't think Stephenie Meyer is the best author for teen novels, like everyone says just because of the Twilight saga, I hope people see that this books deserves more attention than her past books.

  • MUST BE MADE INTO A MOVIE SUCH A GREAT FILM!!!!!!!!!

  • I dont believe Melanie is strong and mean, I think she's strong and can be at times selfish, tho she care very much about jared and her brother she wouldn't have saved Ian's brothers ( I haven't read the book in a while so I forget his name :( ) like Wanda did, but I don't think she's mean.

  • make a sequel for the host!!!

  • Though the original idea was good, I thought that most of the book was unnecessary; many parts should have been cut out because of extremely slow pacing and redundancy.

  • ok I have to say Edward ain`t got nothing on Ian. Jeez. I love the Twilight series but Stephenie Meyer blew my socks off with this one. I have to admit that I was reluctant to read it at first because of how my friend described it as being parasites that take over the world. Now that I read it I absolutely disagree with his choice of words. Stephenie if you read this one of your biggest fans in the world beg you to write more. :)

  • @Kiabalover43 it's like you just took the words out of my mouth! I completeeeeely agree with you!

  • I love Stephanie Meyer is the Best writer of World

  • @escritoradeagua She is not creative.

  • @AmSpazz I think that's but is just my opinion and do not speak for everyone.

  • ian was the big suprise in this book. you could almost feel his part shifting and becoming central to the story. Id love to see more of The Host...an all out war perhaps ? ;]

  • I see 2 things wrong with this:

    1. Science fiction without... science? This means it's just a novel with some sci-fi aspects thrown in for the hell of it. ("It's a teeny-bopper movie with vampires thrown in for the hell of it!")

    2. She talks like no author has ever broken the age & gender barrier before, and that she's some sort of pioneer (or hoping to be one). J.K. Rowling did that 13 years ago. Me, my brother, and my parents all loved reading Harry Potter. I'm 18.

  • @Hiei1314 I agree on both of your points. Especialy the first one. She thinks she can write about teen problems and then throw in some fantasy creature. I wouldn't hate her as much if she just wrote "teeny-bopper" books without having to make vampires sparkle.
