I adored the host and I can't actually believe I'm saying this but... I thought it was better than twilight. (Sorry any Twilight fans) I loved twilight but the host just felt more real for me. the characters had more depth and you could relate to them. it actually made me see the human race very differently. Anyway, loved it and hope that there will be more to come from Melanie and Wanda.
She is just amazing! i just finished this book last night...and now i feel really sad..because its over. that only happens if its a REALLY good book, and The Host is abselutely brilliant. Stephenie, I admire you!!! how do u come up with such brilliant storoes!? P.S i liked it more than the Twilight sagas(but i loved them too :D)
@psych780 an article, i guess i word it wrong, SM is making 2 more books, so it'll be 3 movies, it'll be The Host, The Seeker and The Soul and the director said “It’s a liberating feeling that I’ll be directing something I haven’t had to make up. That’s a workout to start with but I’ve managed to get it down to a script and there are two more movies coming after the initial movie"

I also enjoyed how she was able to portray the different characters in this novel. for example her uncle, Ian, her littler brother, ian's crazy brother lol.
this was my favorite book, 1000 times better than twilight. its not popular with twihards because there are no perfect beings but people who hated twilight like me really seem to love this book. maybe because the characters have a good balance of positive qualities and flaws and relationships between each other. or maybe it's just because mel didn't fall apart when she was seperated from jared, or the other bad stuff. i guess twihards just arent interested in the whole "equality" thing.

And to number 3 - So he doesn't have a personality and he's just another sappy lovey dovey cheesy guy?
i was reading some book about good novel writing cause im in the process of writing yet another one and whenever i watch Meyer a sentence from the book always comes to mind. "a good writer has control over their characters, not the other way around."
@KirabellaAnonymous But characters that have a life of their own turn out to be fascinating and just as amazing as a character that stays within the lines that an author created for them
those 27 people who dont like this dont know anything. I love this book this makes me love stephanie meyer more because she put aside the twilight series and made a book that people will enjoy and the dont have to be twilight fans and they could see what talent stephanie has. I do love the twilight series but Im glad she created a different book based on totally something defferent. Thank you stephanie for being a great inspiration can't wait to see what else she will publish!
I don't think that Stephanie Meyers non twilight projects will really be that successful because Twilight was inspired by Satan and that is why it is hugely successful. Any other projects she does wont make much of a dent because it is just her work not Satans.
@ANOTHERHOLEINYOHEAD you are such an idiot. It makes me feel stupid just to read your post. It's called imagination. Try having an original thought instead of vomiting out something your parents tought you.
Science-fiction for people who don't like science-fiction?! That sounds a little asinine to me. Why write or read a book in a particular genre if you don't like that genre?
I also don't like the way that she thinks her readers are so stupid that they'd think that all of her books would have Edward in it. Smeyer also seems quite arrogant when she talks about good books; almost as if she thinks her own book is good enough to transcend those barriers. She's believing her own hype. How sad.
@Prooface3456 I don't think that's what she meant. A lot of the time, people associate Science Fiction with gadgets and technology and lasers and although that's not all that there is to SciFi, people generalize. She never said she didn't like science fiction, don't be so quick to jump to conclusions. Again, I would step away from the antagonism you seem to feel towards Meyer and view this interview again because I doubt she means to belittle her readers. The Host is actually not a bad read.
@PurpleSocks97 If you're talking about his behavior when he meets Wanda/Melanie its because the love of his life is pretty much gone (he believes) and in her place is an alien that is just one of many that has also taken his friends, family and loved ones away.
She took the last love of his life away. I'd think I would react worse.
Everyone always says "why do you love Jared? He was so mean to Wanda/Melanie in the beginning." It kinda irritates me because if they were in the same situation they would act violent and angry towards the person who took their love away too! XD
I didn't toss the book out the balcony. I don't even have one. But I absolutely love this book! Stephanie Meyer has to be the best author in the history of mankind!
Hello everyone. My name's Robert Johnson. I'm trying to promote my latest novel, Black Isis. Its a crime drama novel about a young woman who becomes a cop after her father is killed. A kidnapping takes place and things get wrapped up in organized crime.
I'm not sure, the concept of a "love triangle" in two bodies seems f-cking laughable to me... Stephen King for the win everybody, there's an author who can capture the reader's attention. Depends on the qualitity of the reader, of course...
@inferno0020 YES! give the host a chance, but be patient. the first 120 pages or so are booring but it´s so worth it when you pass that, because after those 120 pages, that´s when the beuti of it comes through.
I've been waiting for a new book for 2 years, What the fuck. she needs to focus on writing instead of all the movies, and trying to find new ways to tell the same story of twilight ( i.e. Graphic Novels, Bree Tanner, Midnight Sun, the new "illustrated Guide" or whatever).
I just finish the book man...when she wanted to leave and stuff i freaken cried and i hate it when books make me cry but that just shows how good it is.
i love the host although i will admit i read twilight ect before reading the host and when i started i wanted to throw it off a balcony. But i then had nothing to read one day and so started reading it again and found it was one of the most amazing books i have ever read. :)
"Theres no Edward in here and toss it off a balcony" Personally, not trying to dis but is how I feel, I never liked Edward. So I was glad to have a break. Anyway toss this amazing thing that is more than a book off a balcony? I'd strangle myself first(it takes a long time to strangle someone especially with bare hands). I love it when Ian and Jared go at it "Its Mel's boday" "Well Wanda needs some sex too" that was what he was thinking don't deny! ahhahaahhaa MAKE A SEQUEL PLEASE!
I thought the Host was much better than Twilight. Sure, it was hard to get into at first, but once I was I couldn't stop until it was done. I hope she releases the sequels soon!
GVO is a leading provider of web hosting, reseller hosting, and dedicated servers. All people serious about marketing their website and making it profitable use GVO.
I think The Host was better than Twilight, because this book was way more creative than some normal vampire/human romance book. The Host is obviously in my top 15 favorite books list, although I don't think Stephenie Meyer is the best author for teen novels, like everyone says just because of the Twilight saga, I hope people see that this books deserves more attention than her past books.
I dont believe Melanie is strong and mean, I think she's strong and can be at times selfish, tho she care very much about jared and her brother she wouldn't have saved Ian's brothers ( I haven't read the book in a while so I forget his name :( ) like Wanda did, but I don't think she's mean.
Though the original idea was good, I thought that most of the book was unnecessary; many parts should have been cut out because of extremely slow pacing and redundancy.
ok I have to say Edward ain`t got nothing on Ian. Jeez. I love the Twilight series but Stephenie Meyer blew my socks off with this one. I have to admit that I was reluctant to read it at first because of how my friend described it as being parasites that take over the world. Now that I read it I absolutely disagree with his choice of words. Stephenie if you read this one of your biggest fans in the world beg you to write more. :)
ian was the big suprise in this book. you could almost feel his part shifting and becoming central to the story. Id love to see more of The Host...an all out war perhaps ? ;]
1. Science fiction without... science? This means it's just a novel with some sci-fi aspects thrown in for the hell of it. ("It's a teeny-bopper movie with vampires thrown in for the hell of it!")
2. She talks like no author has ever broken the age & gender barrier before, and that she's some sort of pioneer (or hoping to be one). J.K. Rowling did that 13 years ago. Me, my brother, and my parents all loved reading Harry Potter. I'm 18.
@Hiei1314 I agree on both of your points. Especialy the first one. She thinks she can write about teen problems and then throw in some fantasy creature. I wouldn't hate her as much if she just wrote "teeny-bopper" books without having to make vampires sparkle.
I adored the host and I can't actually believe I'm saying this but... I thought it was better than twilight. (Sorry any Twilight fans) I loved twilight but the host just felt more real for me. the characters had more depth and you could relate to them. it actually made me see the human race very differently. Anyway, loved it and hope that there will be more to come from Melanie and Wanda.

i was reading some book about good novel writing cause im in the process of writing yet another one and whenever i watch Meyer a sentence from the book always comes to mind.

Thank you stephanie for being a great inspiration can't wait to see what else she will publish!
saralitardo12492 1 year ago
I don't think that Stephanie Meyers non twilight projects will really be that successful because Twilight was inspired by Satan and that is why it is hugely successful. Any other projects she does wont make much of a dent because it is just her work not Satans.

@ANOTHERHOLEINYOHEAD you are such an idiot. It makes me feel stupid just to read your post. It's called imagination. Try having an original thought instead of vomiting out something your parents tought you.

@ANOTHERHOLEINYOHEAD
Satan is the personefication of the bad side of people, the egoïstic path people take, because it's the easy one.
I don't think Satan is an actual persone.
But on the off he change is, I don't he or her will be interested enough to give some woman insperation for writhing a book.

How sad.
Prooface3456 1 year ago
@Prooface3456 I don't think that's what she meant. A lot of the time, people associate Science Fiction with gadgets and technology and lasers and although that's not all that there is to SciFi, people generalize. She never said she didn't like science fiction, don't be so quick to jump to conclusions. Again, I would step away from the antagonism you seem to feel towards Meyer and view this interview again because I doubt she means to belittle her readers. The Host is actually not a bad read.

love the book but i don't get why Jared in the beginning when he meets her acts the way he does :)
PurpleSocks97 1 year ago
@PurpleSocks97 If you're talking about his behavior when he meets Wanda/Melanie its because the love of his life is pretty much gone (he believes) and in her place is an alien that is just one of many that has also taken his friends, family and loved ones away.
She took the last love of his life away. I'd think I would react worse.
JessicaCasarez 1 year ago
@JessicaCasarez
I totally agree about the acting worse part.
Everyone always says "why do you love Jared? He was so mean to Wanda/Melanie in the beginning." It kinda irritates me because if they were in the same situation they would act violent and angry towards the person who took their love away too! XD

Just wondering, the readers of Host and Twilight
I am very cynical about Meyer's book because of the Twilight Saga. Should i give the Host a chance?
inferno0020 1 year ago
@inferno0020 YES! Soooo much better. :D
artpeacelove 1 year ago
@inferno0020 YES! give the host a chance, but be patient. the first 120 pages or so are booring but it´s so worth it when you pass that, because after those 120 pages, that´s when the beuti of it comes through.
TheSaaaaraaaa 1 year ago
I've been waiting for a new book for 2 years, What the fuck. she needs to focus on writing instead of all the movies, and trying to find new ways to tell the same story of twilight ( i.e. Graphic Novels, Bree Tanner, Midnight Sun, the new "illustrated Guide" or whatever).

Id love to see more of The Host...an all out war perhaps ? ;]
dan16802 1 year ago
I see 2 things wrong with this:
Hiei1314 1 year ago
@Hiei1314 I agree on both of your points. Especialy the first one. She thinks she can write about teen problems and then throw in some fantasy creature. I wouldn't hate her as much if she just wrote "teeny-bopper" books without having to make vampires sparkle.
