I hope I'm not the only one who didn't hate this movie. I can't speak for the cinematography, but the storyline itself was all right until it started borrowing elements from "Of Mice and Men", and I didn't hate the characters themselves ...
Maybe it's just because I listen to too many corny old American radio dramas. Or maybe it's because I actually liked "Of Mice and Men". I don't know.
Either way, the riffing was fantastic and I adore the last host segment. Thanks for the upload!
This has to be the most melancholy-inducing flick MST3K ever had the guts to riff on. By comparison, The Girl In Lover's Lane makes Losing Isaiah look like a gut-busting comedy!
What was the point in telling this story? It's just a depressing anecdote about some miserable people whose miserable lives ruin each other's miserable lives.
so he killed his father, then a man like his father almost killed him... and the girl is dead... dr freud would've loved it... or maybe he would be puzzled ...i think we're getting into a whole weird area here
I love this host segment so much. The entire thing is fantastic, but my absolute favorite is around 04:16 when Joel laughs at Crow yelling out "Florida!" to correct Tom. Adorable (and hilarious) beyond words.
And how lame am I that I actually just finished watching this on DVD, but felt the need to come to YouTube just so I could post a comment about it? It's almost like having friends. Haha. Validate me!
The way Crow's angled when he's working out why you should never love a pigmy really cracks me up. It actually kinda looks like he's really thinking about it.
It was a joke, the kids dad was going to kill him without his knowing, hence the upward positive inflection on said quote. who cares what the label is if you alredy know the product!?

"Dad?" "Click, prrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...."
I always think it is sweet, how Joel and the bots read out letters from kids.

0:20 Thank you, David Arquette, Alyssa Milano, & Carrot Top! (That's a reference to the 1-800-CALL-ATT or 1-800-COLLECT ads in the 90s.)

0:04 1. "Johnny? We elected a new student council representative. You made some powerful enemies, son. I guess you know why."
2. "Put Gagne on the mound. Despite our five-run lead, the bottom of the lineup got lucky all of a sudden."
(#1 was based on the "Cheating" short.)

0:33 "Your going to kill a fatted calf!?" A biblical reference to Abraham going to sacrifice his son to god, these guys are geniuses!

So Danny and Big Stupid lived happily ever after, together?! That's what the movie is suggesting to me anyway.

bmt277 2 years ago 19
I like Tom's ending, with Carrie living. It would've made the movie suck a lot less.
See the further adventures of Danny and Bix this fall on NBC. XD
