yea most rabbits do hate the water that is true. but this one seems to be loving it. my flemish giant and dutch rabbit are very pickyy about when they want to go in the water. they wont mind playing in the tub if its like 100 degrees but they do not want to have any water on them if its not hot out.
@angryfurniture It was pretty hot out that day, as is typical in Thailand during the summer (it's often +120'F with humidity). This particular rabbit died a few years ago because of the heat, so the climate here is pretty brutal on furry critters :-P. I think even an animal that didn't like water would still relish a dip in the pool in those temperatures. I know I would :-)
the rabbit is fine, although it seems it is not interested in getting a bath but just getting around you because he wants to be behind you for taht moment. Since he sees no oppurtunity to run around you he might as well swim right? He swims very fast btw..
Some rabbits do like water and some do not. Forcing a rabbit to swim is wrong, but if the rabbit wants too on his own then there is nothing wrong with it. I do have some rabbits that swim both in a pool and in the ocean. I do have to make sure they are dry when they are done and I do have to make them get out of the water when they are in too long. I don't video record my rabbits however, because I don't want people throwing a rabbit in for the entertainment value of it.
Nope, not at all. That's just my hand moving in front of the camera as I stepped back into the water. Didn't touch the rabbit at all.
She likes to run around the pool while I swim and there's a wall between the kiddie pool and big pool that she likes to walk on (she's very curious). Most of the time, I think she just misjudges the edge and falls in. However, in this video, she actually leaped into the water. In her mind, I think, it was just the most direct route back to her cage (and shade!)
Ok - I see. Analyzing the behavior of Apple I would say that she actually DOES sometimes jumps into the pool because she is so active. So I has the wrong second impression. What one can say it at least that she is not afraid of water - and that is something.
This is the only video of a bunny going to swim by it's own. Great to see. But perhaps a bad excuse for other to abuse their buns to put them into the pool (most buns HATE the water).
That happened last year. Someone posted some offensive videos on YouTube that the Thai government didn't like, and they banned the whole site.
While I understand and agree with their sentiments, I didn't agree with their response. Fortunately, they sorted it all out and Thailand is back on YouTube. Yay!
this video is awesome!!!!! your rabbit is so so so super cute so extremly adorable!!!! it can swim well !!! many rabbits are afraid of water.. but your rabbit is superb.. incredible. so cute!!!
Thanks. She definitely has personality and she does some very "un-rabbit-like" things. I roll that green fencing up and put it near a shelf and she always crawls through it and climbs up the shelf like a little kid on a playground playset.

Actually you are throwing her in - you can see it if you watch carefully: a little dip on her at the edge of the pool.

mattman555555 3 years ago 4
No. wrong. Watch it again, you can see the hand nudge her in. If she liked swimming, why would she dash over to the other edge and climb out?
Rabbits DONT like swimming. They HATE water; They can swim, but dont force them.
