Can you beleive that they have enough parts still off scrapped B52s that they will be around till 2042 or longer?! THEY ARE SUPPERB AIR CRAFT!!! LONG LIVE THE B52!!!!
I saw the last airshow at K.I. Sawyer Air Force Base. I had a video recorder and managed to get quite a bit of the show. It was awesome with B-52s, F-15s and many static displayes like the A-10 Warthog. My children were very young and were able to talk to a pilot in the A-10. My kids were wearing ear protectors and the pilot complimented them on that. It left quite an impression.
I grew up at K.I Sawyer and went to the same airshows. At K.I. they did the low level carpet bombings. It wasn't real though, they had explosives laid out on the field. The base closed on September 25, 1995 to be exact. I think the last airshow was in 1993. Am I right?
I'm not sure of the last year's date. My taping of the event is on VHS and I haven't viewed it in quite a while but you are probably correct. It was always so cool to see the B-52's landing when I was on the road by K.I. or refueling overhead. It's a shame to see them gone. I felt very secure with them there. My family and I were very impressed with the F-15 demonstrations. The noise was incredible when they would turn on a dime or go straight up out of sight. Best wishes from a fellow Yooper!!
