i watched this in health last year nd it really moved me. our country is so obsessed w/ ppl looking perfect that we forget what rlly matters. great message :)
I agree that this commercial sends a good message but at the same time, people should realize that this commercial was used to generate revenue for dove. I'm not saying they don't care about body image, I'm saying that comes second to making money.
@nosmailliwydocbocaj That's not likely to happen since it's not only women who are pressured but men as well and it doesn't stop there. Beauty is prized in most if not all facets of life from finding a mate to finding a job. It would be nice but it's not likely going to happen.
So this is what women want to look like? I run around without makeup, hair in a mess, and wearing blue jeans and feel so much better then this lady probably does. IT'S NOT REAL GIRLS!!! GET OVER IT!!!
It was sad, because men search beautiful men only. I already do not talk that I am not nice, am enough beautiful but this are sorrowful. it is unnecessary to do so. similarly did not turn attention advertising's.
Please don't take Dove seriously, take the message but not the company. Dove hired the same firm responsible for the Ax Ads. It's all nice steaming bowl of hypocrisy.
Oh please, you don't work in advertising. Let me tell you something, the people at the firm really don't care about the product to the point that they go home and think menacingly about how they can make people feel bad about themselves to the point that they buy a product. Every account is different, every product has a different marketing approach, and half the time, a marketing strategy is taken up because the producing company wants it a certain way.
wow. i love this video. i show it to all my friends with low self esteem. everyone i know, even i, had to watch it twice to take it all in. so this is the world we live in? don't you think that's sad?
What a shame we have to live in a world were people feel pressured to look like the this all the time
what mkes me laugh is it says on the billboard foundation makeup shes had a bit more then that. But poeple walking passed will think that they can and should look like that because they don't know computers were involved.
If they can do so much with Photoshop - then why all the pressure for magazine models to be thin and flawless? They could have an extra 20 pounds on and then just edit it off...but these girls are starving themselves to be 'pretty' when they are just edited anyway...
Because photoshop has limits, the more you edit, the less believable it is. The fact is, you can make someone look a certain way just by the method you use to shoot the model, most of the time, editing is just changing the exposure or removing marks from the model's face. Dove went all out to prove a point, but really only the most insecure of clients bother with that (fashion magazines for example hyper edit their models because its pretty hard to sell a dress without a convincing model/shot)
This absolutely made my jaw drop, not even halfway through the video she began to look like a doll. The computer editing was just icing on the "beautiful" cake.
I wonder if she can say, hey! that's me on the billboard!!!!!
yeah right, lol

Well, they started with someone who has perfect features--so that is a little unfair.
Everything about this girl is symmetrical and perfect so even I could take some pretty cheap makeup and make her look even more gorgeous.

because models don't just do photoshoots. They do commercials, runway, ect

and the brits have a dumb way of makig them look slim too. They "tilt" the video. Thats just a stupid way. It messes up your eyes too.

i would think it would be because they dont want to be seen as fat in the real world, i guess. you bring up a good point though.
